Prologue
Nobita's point of view
His Dream
~~~
As I opened both of my eyes, I was greeted with a rather dark view of my surroundings. Although it caught me off-guard, my eyes were slowly able to adapt themselves to the lighting of wherever I was...
That's when I found myself standing on top of a luscious green hill over a seemingly endless grass field, right in the middle of the night. I can see fireflies all over this field, blinking their lime green light ever so often as far as eye can see.
Hopefully I'm somewhere in Japan, I thought.
As soon as I finished my thought, I immediately noticed the large, almost instantly recognizable shadow of Mount Fuji in the background. Okay, I still am in Japan, I thought to myself again. I started rubbing my eyes again as I tried to make out more of it, a bit hard to do in this light.
I looked up at the cloudless night sky, where dozens upon dozens of stars arranged in constellations shone their greetings back at me. Some of the stars resided upon a bright haze, spanning from horizon to horizon.
I looked around from where I stood at that time attempting to find something interesting around me, only to be greeted by a lone fig tree that stood tall from right behind me.
This fig tree however, has a particular uniqueness to it. Bright pink petals were the main feature that spreads across the branches of the tree, in which dozens upon dozens of hanging roots can be seen intertwined into smaller amounts.
This was a new sight to me, as I have never in my life, seen this kind of fig tree. Even after countless upon countless of adventures that I've ever gone into, this was the first time I sighted this kind of tree.
I was baffled, until I noticed that a girl was standing alone under that tree, looking up into the tree itself.
Powered by a strong yet unknown urge, my curiosity led myself over to the tree, where I could make out a young maiden-girl underneath the tree, staring at the deep, dark blue of the night sky.
I approached that girl that tied her hair into a ponytail and asked what she was doing here, alone in the night.
As if I already knew that girl, I asked "Hey, long time no see, eh!"
She replied, "Yeah, I missed you too, Nobita!"
No honorifics whatsoever, but it didn't offend me at all...
I stood there under the tree, admiring the view of Mount Fuji that showed its true form under the weak moon light. Not sure why, but I felt that the presence of this girl standing together with me made my heart race.
I glanced at her, but what I can see is the face of a girl, so beautiful... Even then, I can't seem to make out who this girl was... Strange...
But then, she moved closer to me, and wrapped her right hand with my left hand. I jumped a bit, but before I could say anything, she tightened her grip as she took a deep breath.
I glanced down, only to find that our hands were intertwined into one. She held a strong and genuine grip while letting out a rather weak looking smile from her vague face.
"I love you, Nobita!" She muttered... "I've always liked you ever since a long time ago, but I haven't got any chances to confess my liking to you!"
Heeh? What did she say?
My heart started pounding out of my chest after she said such words. I've never expected to hear from a girl, or to me!
I tried to glance towards her, to make out who this girl really was. All I can remember seeing is a sweet smile of her lips while the rest of her looked like a silhouette under the weak moon light.
But as I was about to give my response to her... The world around me began to fade away. The butterflies in my stomach were taking me away.
No, this is not what I wanted it to be!
No!!
I jolted up from my futon, feeling the sweat running down from almost every inch of my skin. The cold air that filled up my rooms almost made no difference as the only thing that I felt was the intense heat surrounding my body.
I gasped for the much-needed fresh air that my lungs begged me to get. My heart was racing so fast by now that it could do a whole trip around the world in 20 seconds flat. My cheeks still felt a little warm for reasons I didn't understand.
I sat down, trying my best to calm myself down while also trying to reach for my round glasses right next to the futon.
After I put them on, I came to realize that the sun has not come up yet. The view outside the window is still pretty much dark with no speck of light coming to shine the night sky, aside from the streetlights.
After managing to calm myself down, I started remembering the dream that I just had. Everything about that dream played out somewhat natural and felt so real, and I knew there must have been something behind that dream.
But I didn't know what.
I tried to remember the dream to try interpreting the dream myself. Since it happened not long ago, I can easily remember everything.
"What is the meaning of all this?" I muttered.
I certainly believed that because the dream was so realistic. I've heard about this dozens of times where a dream that felt so realistic meant that it was a sign of something big on its way.
However, when I tried to remember the face of the girl who confessed her love to me, nothing came up. All I could remember from her was that she was "beautiful", as much as I tried to rack my brain to remember who she was.
It annoyed me to death at the fact that I forgot what she looked like. I vigorously brushed all my hair with regretful anger to my 'forgetful' trait that happened every single time.
It could be anyone; Shizuka-chan, the French girl that I met weeks ago, or even my distant friend that is currently living in America. It could've been Gian little sister, too!
Despite knowing the fact that Shizuka is surely going to be my future wife... I couldn't help but doubt the fact that it was going to happen. I assumed quickly that it was Shizuka-chan all along who confessed her love to me as I tried getting back to sleep.
But still... The thought that it could be another girl prevented me from getting even a wink of sleep.
Sitting back up again, I glanced towards the wardrobe in which my best friend stayed within my room. I thought of consulting this dream with him and perhaps try to get some answers out of it.
He could still be sleeping, but I couldn't care less about it. I stood up from the futon and headed to Doraemon's wardrobe sleeping hole.
As I slid the door open, I nudged the blue cat robot in front of me to wake him up. Usually though, a little nod to his back would wake him up almost immediately, which it did.
"N..nobita-kun?"
"Doraemon, wake up..."
He opened his eyes and showed quite a surprised look on his face. "Nobita-kun? Why are you so sweaty?"
I took a glance to my pyjamas which was almost got drenched by the sweat. "Something happened inside my sleep is the reason why I'm a little... shaken."
Doraemon sat down, "What happened? Something happened in a dream?"
"Yeah, I just experienced a dream so real..."
"What's the dream about? Is it a nightmare?"
"No, it's not a scary dream, but it was a dream of someone actually confessing her love to me."
He looked at me deep from his digital eyes, "Ah that sort of dream... I can see why you look so flustered."
"Why did you treat as if something like this was normal?"
Doraemon held both of his hands up as a form of defence. "Hey, to be fair, it happens a lot in someone's lifetime. So, I can't see any 'special' things that happens in that dream."
"Is it?"
"Yeah, it usually makes the victim as excited, confused, or puzzled just like you do in this occasion."
"B-But I believe that the dream was trying to convey something!" I assured him.
"No, it's not, Nobita-kun... How many times does a 'meaningful-dream' help you at all in the day?" He asked,
I sighed, "Not many..."
"You know the answer already... So, just go back to sleep." Doraemon brushed, "You need a good night rest since you'll be starting school in the morning. You still need to attend the entrance ceremony, you know."
I quietly closed the wardrobe door and returned to my futon with a head full of questions. The fact that Doraemon ignored me annoyed me so much.
Maybe it's because that I haven't seen Shizuka-chan for a while now?
