"Please don't go. I don't want my darling children to leave." You heard the only mother you'd ever known pleading to Emma.
"I'm sorry, Mama. Goodbye to this house. And goodbye to you, Mama."
You heard Emma say to your former caretaker before she ziplined across the chasm and over to the solid ground where it was safe. You and Ray caught her when she landed and Emma shot Ray a quick look. Ray began blushing in return and this hurt your heart a little bit. You've had feelings for Ray for a while, now. However, you always thought he liked Emma and Emma liked him. Yeah. He liked Emma. Not you.

Ray's POV:
Dammit Emma, you almost exposed me.
I thought to myself as we continued to run through the forest. We stopped at the end of the forest and then saw that it was daybreak. I then turned to (Y/N). I wasn't thinking, but the adrenaline from knowing that we'd just escaped that God forsaken hell hole hadn't worn off, yet.
"(Y/N)!"
Your POV
"(Y/N)!"
Ray said a little out of breath. He was...smiling?
"Yeah!"
I smiled back. His smile was beautiful. This wasn't a smug smile, either. It was one of genuine happiness.
"How do you feel about me?"
Sjajanafsasknisn WHAT? Why would he ask that?! Was my crush really that obvious?? Damn. Might as well be honest.
"I...um...well..I love you, Ray!"
F R I C K I N G  F R I C K-
Wait, he's...hugging me?
"Wait, you're not disgusted with me? You don't think I'm nasty or anything like that?"
"NO! Nothing like that! I love you, too..."
"What?"
"I said...I love you, too."
"Huh? I can't seem to hear that last part!"
Instead of just telling me, he showed me. He crashed his lips against mine, but not aggressive in any way. It didn't hurt me. After a few seconds he pulled away.
"I read that people can show affection by kissing. By the way, I said I love you."
I felt my face get hot as the other children cheered. However this time he was giving me a smug smile.
"Rayyyy!"
I whined. He just snickered at my childish behavior. He pulled me closer to him and nuzzled his face into my shoulder.
"I love you a lot, you know that?"
"I always thought you liked Emma..."
"The hell?! Of course not. I love her like a little sister, though."
Emma piped up after hearing that.
"Awww, you DO love me~!"
She elbowed him, wiggling her eyebrows.
"Oh, shut up!"
I smiled. We'd escaped, we were all alive, and Ray loved me. My feelings were reciprocated. Thank God! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
"Now come on you guys! Let's keep going!"
Emma chirped. And so we continued to run. We ran away from the place we once called home. But we had each other. That's what mattered.
