"Can you believe it is almost the end of the school year?" He gets a lazy hum from the elder boy in response.

Raising a brow, Jaemin has been trying to start a conversation with Renjun for a few minutes now. But he doesn't get a very vocal response as usual.

He thought the elder boy was just tired, or not in the mood to be talkative. So he didn't really mind the lack of words from him until now.

Renjun wasn't even looking at him, but else where. Eyes set on something while he supports his chin on his palm, forgetting the paper he was working on a moment before.

Jaemin inches closer to follow Renjun's gaze, trying to find what pulled his friend's attention away from him.

Lips curling up to a smirk when he assumes he has found what Renjun has been staring at, "Renjun Huang being a lovesick creep, what a rare sight." He remarks teasingly.

The elder boy finally snaps out of his thoughts and scowls at Jaemin from across the table, "shut up."

He huffs out in annoyance, although the blush creeping up on his cheeks did not help his plan to intimidate Jaemin, not even the slightest.

It makes Jaemin snort quite loudly, liking this rare moment of his friend being weak and shy than his usual snarky self. It definitely is a rare sight because this side of Renjun hasn't been discovered much.

Despite being friends with him for so long, he barely sees it. And majority of those times he does is because of Haechan's doing.

Oblivious Haechan Lee, clueless to the non platonic feelings one of his best friends, Renjun Huang, has for him.

But somehow, it all made sense to him when that incident happened in Renjun's – his – party. He knew there was something more in that make out session; especially when Renjun ran away looking so panicked.

At first he thought Renjun was panicking because he had kissed his best friend and was afraid it would ruin their friendship.

But then Jeno came up to him, telling him everything without Renjun knowing; Jeno doesn't talk badly about someone behind their back.

As much as he is a confident and egotistical kind of person, all those traits are pushed away, making Renjun feel weak.

Because of this, Jeno just had to tell Haechan. Knowing for sure Renjun wouldn't utter a word to the tanned male, not wanting to confront him. Giving deja vu.

Of course Jeno felt guilty for doing so, especially when Renjun freaked out once he told him. But then they talked it out and agree to disagree.

Besides, if Jeno didn't tell Haechan, he has a guess the tanned male wouldn't care or know a damn thing. Unintentionally hurting Renjun more in the process.

Hence here they are, still giving each other space just like Jaemin and Jeno. It feels weird, not just because of the sudden comeback of their friendships, but separating as pairs.

Haechan even heard some people thinking they broke up with their partners, which he couldn't blame them as he imagined their point of view; it indeed does look like it.

He then heard another group starting a gossip, it was a dumb one as per usual.

They assumed one of the couples (as if Haechan and Renjun were even official in the first place) are trying to make each other jealous by hooking up with their close friends.

"How did they even think about that in the first place? Like– just how?!" He had ranted to Jeno one time at his place.

Jeno was very calm about it although it does make him feel uneasy as well. Which made Haechan amazed, asking how he does it and all that in a funny manner.

He doesn't have time to talk back to those kinds of toxic people. As if they would believe him these days.

"They assumed that easily because of how much we're spending time together recently as pairs. We literally walk together after school."

"Wasn't there a rumor that you and one of the school officers were hooking up or whatever because you guys walk home together or go to a café a lot?"

"Exactly my point."

"Christ." Haechan grimaces to that thought til this day, understanding how Jeno has been feeling throughout these times and now feels bad for him.

How oblivious can I be? First Renjun and then Jeno. Or could it be the other way around? I don't fucking know.

Renjun glances to one of the tables again, so openly for anyone to see. Not even trying to hide it– on purpose or not. "I miss him..." He mumbles subconsciously.

Having Jaemin rolling his eyes this time. "How are you allowed to do this while I can't?"

"Do what?"

"Whine about your love crisis."

"It is not a love crisis." Renjun defends himself, glaring at him.

But as always, Jaemin remains unbothered. "Oh please, just because you guys weren't official doesn't change what you have for each other."

"Don't pull a wise play on me."

"Why? Did I hurt your ego again?" Jaemin teased with a smirk painting his face. "Anyway, it's so unfair."

"I wasn't whining." Renjun mutters under his breath, still not over it yet.

Just how Jaemin had planned, wanting to tease the elder boy until he's frustrated at himself for being oddly dumb.

"Don't pretend you didn't rant to me about Haechan everyday. You even talked about him to Amy for some reason, then you kept bringing him up at weird times."

When Renjun was about to deny Jaemin's accusations, he was beat to it. "Don't even try, you can ask the others and they'll agree you've been lovesick these past few weeks."

"As if you haven't been lovesick about Jeno as well." Renjun tries to fight back, but gets confused when Jaemin grins at him instead of frowning.

"At least I admit to it and embrace it, shows how much I love my darling Jeno Lee despite the struggles in our relationship." He proudly states.

He then stands up as Renjun scoffs in sarcasm as a response, "yuck."

Grabbing his things and closing the journal he has been working on more often, Jaemin playfully kisses the cover of his journal to tease Renjun more.

As expected, the elder boy makes a face as Jaemin blurts out. "Besides, we kinda talked today, I even flirted a little and borrowed a pen. Ring any bells?"

"WHAT THE HELL?!"

"Gotta go now, see you, Jun!" Jaemin snickers evilly as he dashes off, leaving Renjun in shock.
