[o9] Out of the Woods
"She bites my lip, I'm sure to follow."
It had been a week, and Colby still hadn't called her.
He knew that Saraya was right, that Carrie needed to talk to him, but he hadn't been able to bring himself to call her. He still didn't know what to say.
He was on his way to Orlando, preparing to have his knee checked out by a doctor and probably get some physical therapy done. He was close enough to Tampa – where the band was – that he wouldn't have a problem driving there if he actually thought of something to say.
Colby parked the car.

As he left the Performance Center, he was hit by the hot air. It was a huge contrast to how Iowa felt in December, and while he didn't mind it, he wouldn't want to live here.
He began making his way to the car, but his phone began ringing. He was still by the building, so as he leaned against the wall, he pulled out his phone.
When he saw her name in big letters, he was tempted to ignore the call. He knew, though, that if he didn't answer her, she might not answer him if he called in the future.
He brought the phone to his ear.
"Hello?"
"Colby...?"
Carrie didn't sound like herself, he quickly realized. Sure, he didn't expect her to sound excited when she called, but she sounded sad. She sounded really sad.
"Is everything okay?" He frowned.
"Are you at home?" She asked.
"No, I'm in Orlando," He replied. "I had some things I needed to do at the Performance Center. I just finished. What's wrong?"
"I... He..." She kept trailing off, but Colby was patient. "We're in Tampa. Could you come? I really need someone to talk to, and I know you're probably not the first person I should've called, but it was an instinct. I understand if you don't want to, but I really need to talk to you." She paused, taking a deep breath. "I'm not doing too good."
"I'm on my way."

On his way to Tampa, Carrie had texted him where she'd be, so he had no problem finding her. She was at the venue, knowing that no one else would be there for a few more hours. She needed to be by herself.
When Colby walked inside, he spotted her almost immediately. She was sitting on the stage, her legs dangling off the edge. The door had made a loud noise as it shut, but she didn't look up.
Colby walked onto the stage, taking a seat next to her. She didn't look up.
At first, she didn't say anything, so it was silent for a few minutes.
She finally looked up at him, and he noticed she had been crying.
"Sam broke up with me."
"I'm sorry," He apologized.
"It wasn't even because of...us," She said, sighing. "I didn't even get a chance to tell him. He said he had been thinking about it for a few weeks now, but since I hadn't been home, he hadn't actually done anything about it. But once he saw me this morning, he knew we couldn't be together anymore. He couldn't date someone he never saw."
"I'm sorry," He repeated, even though he knew it wasn't his fault now.
"We were together for two years," Carrie said. A few stray tears rolled down her face. "I've known him since middle school, but we never dated until after graduation. I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with him, you know?"
"That's how it was with Leighla," Colby admitted. "But we all know how that turned out, huh?" He let out a self-deprecating laugh.
She didn't know how to respond to that, so she just ran a hand through her hair and said, "Love sucks."
Colby looked over at her. "Listen, I'm sorry for what happened in Nashville. I shouldn't have left like I did. I panicked because the last time that happened, I had to end my engagement. It was just a lot to take in, and I didn't – "
"Colby?" She interrupted him.
"Huh?"
"It's fine," She said. She even grinned a little. "We're fine. Just..."
"What?"
"Come back on the road," She said. "I miss having you around. You're fun to hang out with. Plus, it doesn't feel the same without you."
"How about we just start over?" He suggested.
She nodded and smiled. "I'm Carrie. I'm the lead singer of the best band on the planet, Toxic Valentine."
"Interesting." He nodded, and she laughed. "I'm Colby. You probably know me as Seth Rollins, though. I'm the best wrestler on the planet. I think we'll get along perfectly."
"God, I hope so."

This chapter is short, but it furthers the plot so I'm not even going to apologize. :P
And yay! Colby and Carrie made up! :D
And another yay! I actually used a song people know as the name of the chapter!
Haha anyway, let me know what you thought! :)
