[o5] Tear In My Heart

"Sex and white lies, handcuffs and alibis.  She lays her halo on the pillow where she sleeps."

It was the next day, and Colby had already decided what he was going to do.

He told Saraya that she could get back on the road again, head to the next city. He didn't need her because, thanks to her, he found something – well, someone – that made him feel better.

With Saraya out of the house, he was now packing. Being WWE World Heavyweight Champion had its perks, and he was using the money he received to follow The Beautiful Disaster Tour – more specifically, to follow Toxic Valentine.

He'd come back to Davenport for physical therapy when he needed to, but besides that, he wouldn't be home much.

He was listening to Toxic Valentine's album as he packed, and now that he thought about it, he realized he was a groupie. Colby always considered groupies a little weird, but right now, he was beginning to know how they felt.

Once he'd finished packing, he made sure everything in the house was safe, then went outside. The Uber he'd called for was already there, so he brought his stuff out with him, and he was off.

Carrie stood backstage.

They were all in Omaha, Nebraska, and Pierce the Veil was currently performing. They were nearing the end of a song, and she was waiting for Hold On Till May so that she could come out. When she heard the opening notes, she grinned, and when it was finally time for her to come out, she did.

Since she only had the one verse, she was done rather quickly, and after giving Vic a quick hug, she went backstage. Pierce the Veil had only a few more songs left, then it was time for Toxic Valentine.

Meanwhile, Colby was in the audience. When Carrie came out, he smiled, even if she couldn't see him. Pierce the Veil finished their set, and after getting everything set up, Toxic Valentine came out.

When Carrie had come out to sing with Vic, she was wearing a black and white flannel shirt over a black t-shirt. Now that she was with her band, though, she had taken off the flannel and tied it around her waist. He quickly recognized the black t-shirt as a tank top, and as his one of his own from the WWE shop.

They started off with their All Time Low cover, then an original song. Afterward, Carrie introduced the band again.

"All right, so we like to try limiting ourselves to just one cover," Carrie said. "But, tonight, we're feeling a little rebellious. So, we'd like to play you the second song we ever learned together as a band. I hope you like it."

Once he heard the first notes, Colby recognized it instantly.

"Sometimes you gotta bleed to know
That you're alive and have a soul.
But it takes someone to come around
And show you how.

She's the tear in my heart.
I'm alive.
She's the tear in my heart.
I'm on fire.
She's the tear in my heart.
Take me higher
Than I've ever been!

The songs on the radio are okay,
But my taste is music is your face.
And it takes a song to come around
To show you how.

She's the tear in my heart.
I'm alive.
She's the tear in my heart.
I'm on fire.
She's the tear in my heart.
Take me higher
Than I've ever been!

You fell asleep in my car, I drove the whole time.
But that's okay, I'll just avoid the holes so you sleep fine.
I'm driving here I sit,
Cursing my government
For not using my taxes to fill holes with more cement.
You fell asleep in my car, I drove the whole time.
But that's okay, I'll just avoid the holes so you sleep fine.
I'm driving here I sit,
Cursing my government
For not using my taxes to fill holes with more cement.

Sometimes you've gotta bleed to know, oh, oh.
That you're alive and have a soul, oh, oh.
But it takes someone to come around
And show you how.

My heart is my armor.
She's the tear in my heart.
She's a carver.
She's a butcher with a smile,
Cut me farther
Than I've ever been!
Than I've ever been!
Than I've ever been!
Than I've ever been!"

Once they finished, the crowd cheered, recognizing and loving the Twenty One Pilots song.

Toxic Valentine finished their set, and A Day to Remember came out. Colby still loved Carrie's song with the band, even more than their other songs.

After the concert ended, everyone began leaving or going to buy last minute merch. Colby decided to head backstage, to see if he was allowed to (even if he wasn't, he was going to stay there anyway) and to possibly try to find Carrie.

When he got back there, it was very chaotic. Without Saraya with him, he felt out of place.

"Hey!" He recognized the voice, and turned around to look at Carrie. She was walking toward him. "I didn't know you were going to be here!"

"Yeah, it was a last minute thing," Colby responded, shrugging. He looked around. "Am I allowed to be back here?"

"If they try to kick you out, I'll let them know you're with me," She said, smirking. "So, why did you come all the way to Omaha? Did you love us so much that you had to see Toxic Valentine twice?"

"It's a long story," He replied.

"I've got time and nothing to do," Carrie said. "So, let's talk."

She led him through the backstage area, finding a place to sit.

"My original plan for this injury was to sit around all day and be sad," He explained. "Throw in some Crossfit and physical therapy, and you've got the ideal day for me. But last night, Saraya convinced me to go to the concert, and I loved it. And I realized something."

"What?" Carrie was captivated by his simple story.

"I don't want to be miserable," He said. "So, I've decided to just come to as many shows on this tour as I can. I love music, and it'll keep me out of the house. Besides going back for physical therapy, I won't be home enough to be miserable."

"You're just going to buy a bunch of tickets?" Carrie asked, frowning. She'd found a flaw in his plan.

"You seem to forget that I was champion," Colby said, smirking. "Holding that belt gets you a lot of things, including money."

"I don't want you using all your money on concerts!" She exclaimed. "Let me make you a special guest of the band! You'll get a cool pass and everything, plus it'll be free!"

"Are you sure?" Colby wasn't sure he wanted to do that. He didn't know Carrie that well, and he didn't want her thinking she had to do this.

"I'm positive," She replied, grinning. "Our only special guests are our parents." She laughed. "Plus, how many people can say they own their special guest's t-shirt?" She pointed at her tank top.

"I'll be your special guest on one condition," Colby said.

"What?"

"You be my special guest when I finally return to the ring," He said.

Carrie's eyes widened. "Seriously?"

"Seriously." Colby smiled.

"I've only been to a live event once," She revealed. "I'm so excited!"

"It'll be a while before I return," He reminded her. "I just barely got injured. But the minute I find out when I'm coming back, I'm getting you a ticket."

"Thank you!" She exclaimed. She pulled out her phone, and after typing a few things – Colby assumed she was texting someone – she looked back at him. "I've got a weird question."

He raised an eyebrow. "What?"

"Can we take a picture together?" She asked. "It'll be fun! I'm wearing your shirt, so it's only right that I take a picture with you."

He laughed. "Makes sense to me."

Carrie grinned, leaning over and taking the selfie with him.

She tweeted it.

Not including the song lyrics, this is a really short chapter. xD But I needed to get things rolling, and this was the only way I knew how.

The title of the chapter is the song Toxic Valentine sang, in honor of me getting to see Twenty One Pilots next March. :D

Let me know what you think! :)
