twelve

A few weeks were over and I was talking to Betty again. She has apologized many times and I just couldn't be mad at her for too long, she's basically my sister. Polly didn't make any attempt to talk to me so it was best if we kept on just talking about the things that were important.

Archie and I were seeing each other often but each day Jason tried to talk to me and somehow I just ended up forgiving him. But I didn't forget what happened, he didn't earn my trust that easily. I told Archie that we definitely couldn't be a couple because I didn't love him like that.

Surprisingly, Cheryl hasn't done anything to separate me from Jason and even Reggie wasn't an ass anymore. Not even Malachai has texted me again. Tonight Jason and I would have another date.

"Hey, thank you for coming", he spoke up when I arrived at the restaurant.

We decided not to go to Pops, the cinema or somewhere in Riverdale. We chose a restaurant in Greendale because there wouldn't be anyone from school or from Riverdale in general. Also I was still a little afraid of Malachai.

"It's okay, Jason. You don't need to thank me anytime we see each other."

"I know, I just still feel bad. I didn't mean to hurt you. I'm just an ass but I try to be better."

"I know you do. I see you're trying. Let's just forget about it, okay? It's been weeks."

"You're right. So, let's go in there", he smiled before he walked around the car to open the door for me.

"Thank you, gentleman", I chuckled.

Jason chose an Argentinian steak with a coke and I ordered the grilled vegetables with a coke as well. It's been good to just go to a different restaurant for once. Usually we only went to Pops and as much as I loved him and his food I just wanted to get out of this town sometimes. Everyone's talking about everything and is always so judgmental. I just wanted to have fun. For our first date after a few weeks we wanted to take it slow so we haven't been talking as emotionally as before. So I decided to make the first step when we got back to the car.

"Can I come over to your house for a while?", I asked him nervously.

"Of course if you want to. I'd like that."

"Good, then you know where to drive", I grinned regarding the fact that we finally were close again.

"I have been in this house before but still I'm shocked how big it is", I admired the dimension of the house over again.

"It's not that special. I'm sure that your home in New York is a lot bigger."

"My parents own an apartment there that's actually quite small for some people in New York."

"You need to show me pictures the next time we see each other. I'm sure with quite small you mean luxurious."

"So.. you know the kitchen and the living room already. Cheryl and I have our rooms and the bath room upstairs which is good so there's more daylight. Maybe for our next date we could cook something together. You once told me you were good at that."

"I wouldn't say good. Let's say alright."

"I'm sure-"

"Jason, why are you not alone?", a woman who seemed to be around forty-five to fifty years old asked when she saw us in the kitchen.

"Mom, we just wanted to talk for some time", he answered her politely and seemed to be totally different when he talked to his mother somehow.

"Hi, I'm-", I started to introduce myself but she stopped me not reaching for my hand which I gave her.

"Elizabeth Specter, I know. Daughter to Harvey Specter and Dana Scott."

"Why would you invite someone like her, son? We taught you better", a man seeming to be his father stepped in.

Woah, what did I do to them to make them say that? I have just met them and had no idea who they were. I didn't judge them, I didn't even know them. Why would they be mean to me?

"We were just going out for dinner. There's nothing wrong with that", he tried to make it better.

"Out for dinner? I can't believe you would damage our reputation like that!"

"Mrs. Blossom, I'm sorry if I did something that makes you think that I'm not good for your sonn. I didn't mean to upset you", I told them politely trying to calm them down.

"You know where the door is, leave now", Mr. Blossom demanded angrily.

"I-"

"Dad! What's wrong with you two? She didn't do anything and I like her!"

"You won't see each other any more! And if you don't leave the next five seconds, we're calling your parents."

"Jason, I'm sorry, they can't know", I stuttered shocked that his parents were so judgmental trying to separate us.

"No, I'm driving you. You're not going alone."

"You stay here, son. I'm sure you don't want your parents to know. They would send you back to New York immediately. So if you want to stay here, stay away from our son."

I looked at them with a blank face. I felt embarrassed, hurt, humiliated. I thought it was best to just do what they wanted me to do. I had no idea what my parents would do if they knew about this but they for sure wouldn't like it. They just shouldn't know. And even if I was ready to tell them, I was the one to do that not Jason's parents. So I ran out of their house. I didn't try to persuade them or say goodbye, I just ran out of there because for some reason they scared me.. like really scared me. Luckily, I just had to walk about three miles to be at home again and the weather was okay. I had no idea what was going to happen after this encounter.
