Chapter 5
Layla groaned and flopped down onto her bed. She had no idea what to wear. Tonight she was supposed to go to the movies with Theo. Tugging at her hair, she pulled out her phone. Dialing Lydia's number she banged her foot impatiently. Soon she heard the strawberry blondes voice on the other end of the line and sighed in relief. The only problem was, it wasn't what she was expecting.
"Hello, this is Lydia Martin. Please leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can." Her perky voice recited. Voicemail.
"Dammit." Layla cursed as she hung up. A moment later her phone lit up with a text.
"Hey Layls, can't talk right now. I left you're outfit on the back of your chair. Don't worry about Tracy, Parrish and I have it sorted. Have fun tonight and make good choices.
Love you, Lydia. Xx "
Layla smiled at the text. Of course Lydia had already prepared something for her. She was also relieved that the whole Tracy situation was under control. Lydia was the only one who ever called her 'Layls'. She had been given nicknames from other people too, obviously. But most people just used her full name. The twins always called her 'baby wolf' and when they were little Stiles decided on called Layla 'la la'.
Layla walked over to the chair that was situated in front of her dressing table. Picking up the dress that was slung on the back of the chair she murmured a 'wow'. The dress was absolutely beautiful. It had black and white stripes on the bodice, and there was a thin black belt where the dress pinched in at the waist. The skirt part of the dress was a skater style and a pale mint green colour. It fell mid thigh and Lydia had graciously placed a pair of heels on the ground beside the dress.
Layla slipped into the dress and put on the heels. Next, she tackled her hair. Layla was always dying her hair. Sometimes she did it out of sheer boredom. Last week her hair was a baby pink and the month before it was a dark blue. Her hair was currently black and dip dyed a dark green. She put it up into a messy bun. She then put on a little mascara and lipgloss and she was set.
She walked down the stairs and saw her father getting ready to leave for his date. When he caught sight of his daughter his eyes widened.
"I'm overdressed aren't I? God, I knew it." She groaned.
Her father shook his head and smiled proudly at his daughter. "No Layla you look beautiful. You, you look just like your mother." He said softly.
Layla walked towards her father and hugged him. "I miss her daddy." She whispered, feeling like the small child she was when she first lost her mother.
"So do I sweetheart. But you listen here, she would be so proud of you and your brother. You know she made a bet with me about you and Theo when you were little." He said as they pulled away from the hug.
Layla's eyebrows furrowed. "And this bet was?"
"She bet that you and Theo would end up more than best friends. I disagreed. But I think she ended up being right."
Layla brushed. "Dad." She mumbled. "Theo and I are just friends. He doesn't, I don't." She stammered. "Anyway, if you disagreed, who did you think I was going to end up with."
Her father cleared his throat. "Scott." He mumbled.
"Scott." Layla repeated in a chocked laugh. "He's like my brother."
"Well I know that now." He said.
Layla shook her head, laughing. "Well dad I will enjoy my non date, while you enjoy your actual date."
Layla wouldn't admit it, but it was hard at first to see her father moving on. She actually flinched when she first noticed her father was no longer wearing his wedding ring. But it had been years since the Stilinski twins lost their mother and their father lost his wife. He deserved to be happy. He deserved to have someone special. He deserved everything that life had to offer.
Layla knew that her father was going on a date with Lydia's mother. But she always thought that if he would go out with anyone, it would be Melissa. Well, there was still time.
"I don't need to, you know give you the talk. Do I?" Sheriff Stilinski asked, very uncomfortable.
"Oh my god, no. No dad." Layla cringed.
Her father sighed in relief. "Good, we'll have a good time. But not too good." He said narrowing his eyes at his daughter.
Layla laughed and leaned up to kiss her fathers cheek. "You too dad." She said and walked out the door.
---
Theo was getting out of his car as Layla closed her front door. His jaw dropped at the sight of Layla. "You look absolutely beautiful Layla." He said.
"Thanks." She said blushing. She pushed a lock of her hair behind her ear. "You look really nice too."
And boy he did. Theo was wearing a dark pair of jeans and a white shirt, and a black leather jacket. Staring at him Layla felt slightly breathless and had to rid her head of certain images and thoughts.
Theo opened the car door for Layla who thanked him and got inside. Theo walked round and sat in the drivers seat. He gave Layla a small smile before they set off for their evening together.
But they forgot that they lived in Beacon Hills.
---
Layla was slightly surprised when Theo reached for her hand durning the movie. She couldn't help but smile and they sat like that for the rest of the movie. Layla found it cute how nervous and excited he was. After the movie he took her to a nearby carnival.
They stopped at a stall where you had to knock down the cans to win a price.
"I am terrible at these things." Layla groaned.
Theo smiled. "Well I will be your knight in shining armour."
Theo paid the man standing at the stall and picked up one of the balls. He threw it and it knocked down all the cans. Layla stifled a laugh when she saw the mans jaw drop in shock.
"I'll have the wolf please." Theo said innocently with a toothy grin.
The man reached for the wolf and practically threw it at Theo, his eyes wide. Throwing the man another grin he turned to Layla.
"For my lady." He said bowing and handed her the cuddly toy. Layla giggled, which shocked her. She never giggled.
"Thank you kind sir. But I must say I think you had an unfair advantage."
Theo raised his eyebrows. "How so?"
"Well correct me if I'm wrong, but I do believe that you are in fact a supernatural creature who possesses super strength and reflexes."
Theo shrugged and rolled his eyes playfully. "Would you like me to return it?" He asked reaching for the wolf.
Layla snatched the wolf away from him and glowered at him. "No chance buddy."
Theo stepped towards her, their noses almost touching. Layla could feel Theo's breath against her lips. "Don't I get a thank you?" He whispered in a playful tone.
"I don't know. Do you?" Layla whispered in return.
The distance between the two was becoming smaller and smaller.
And then Layla's phone rang.
The two sprang apart as if they had been electrocuted. "Sorry." Layla muttered, pulling out her phone. Staring at the screen she sighed.
"It's my brother." She grumbled. She went to put the phone back in her when Theo stopped her.
"It's okay. Answer it."
Layla smiled and answered the phone. "Stiles this had better be important or I swear to god you're in serious trouble."
"Layla we need your help. We have Tracy, and Deaton is going to take a look at her. But we could really do with your help." He said in a begging tone.
"Stiles do you really need me?"
"Yes."
"Fine." She sighed. "I'll be there in twenty minutes."
"Thanks sis."
Layla muttered a goodbye before putting the phone away. "Theo." she sighed.
He shook his head and smiled. "It's okay, I heard. We can pick this up some other time. I'll take you to Deaton's."
"Thanks Theo." she replied and kissed his cheek.
---
Layla entered the animal clinic to find all eyes on her.
"Eh, hi." Layla spoke feeling awkward.
"Layla, why are you dressed up?" Stiles asked his sister. "You look really pretty."
"Stiles you sound almost shocked by the fact that I could actually look nice." She commented raising her eyebrows.
"I didn't mean it like that." Stiles spluttered.
Layla waved her hand. "Doesn't matter. I was busy, now I'm here so what's the problem?" She said addressing Deaton.
Deaton was looking at the side of Tracy's neck, a confused expression on his face.
"Scott and Layla can you help me turn her over?" Deaton asked.
Layla nodded and her and Scott turned Tracy round. Deaton lightly placed the scalpel along Tracy's spine.
"Is something . . . moving?" Layla asked, disgusted.
"I'm not sure." Deaton replied.
Moments later Tracy's back began to split down the middle, like fabric tearing at the seams. Something sprung out of Tracy's back along with some sort of black goo. Layla ducked just in time, so she remained clean.
But that was the least of her problems.
"Please tell me I'm wrong in saying this." Layla spoke as they all stared at a scale covered, tail bearing Tracy who was hanging on the ceiling. "But is Tracy by any chance a Kanima?"
And that was when she pounced. With a flick of her tail Malia and Scott were on the ground, paralysed. Seconds later Stiles, Deaton and Layla followed. Layla's body went numb as she felt the sharp sting in her neck and she tumbled to the ground. The five had to watch as Tracy left the clinic.
"Well that went well." Layla said sarcastically.
"Layla." Stiles sneered. "Shut up."
----
Layla didn't know how long she had been lying there when Malia finally managed to fight against the paralysis toxin.
"Malia." Stiles said. "Just wait on us now."
Layla couldn't see what was happening, but she heard stumbling and assumed Malia was trying to stable herself.
"No." She said grinding her teeth. "I have to stop her."
"Malia." Layla shouted at the were coyote, but it was no use. Malia was out of the door within seconds.
"Where's Sam and Dean when you need them?" Layla sighed, referring to the two brothers from her favourite show.
"Layla, I've told you their not real." Stiles snapped.
"Yeah well neither are werewolves. Oh wait, what do you know, I am one." Layla replied sarcastically. "Besides, I never said they were real. I'm just saying it would be nice. I mean, attractive men in plaid with guns. Can it get any better?"
Layla didn't get a response, but she heard her brother sigh.
Soon, they had almost full control of their limbs. Scott was standing, Layla following.
"Are you okay?" A voice asked.
Looking up, they saw Theo Raeken walking in the door. He helped Stiles onto his feet. Stiles grumbled something incoherent, but it definitely wasn't a thank you. Theo rushed over to Layla, checking her for injuries. He cupped her face with his hands.
"Are you okay?" He asked, concerned.
"I'm fine Theo." Layla replied smiling.
"What is this?" Stiles asked pointing his finger accusingly between the two.
"None of your damn buisness Stiles. That's what it is." Layla snarled.
"What are we going to do about Tracy?" Scott asked, changing the subject, try to diffuse the tension.
"We have to stop her." Deaton said.
"Let me help." Theo interjected. "It doesn't mean that I'm part of your pack or anything. It just means that I'll help you stop her."
Scott nodded and that was when a plan began to form.

A/N
Wow! This took ages to write, and I don't even like it. But I'm going to post it anyway. The photo attached isn't mine, it's from the Internet. I know that Theo wasn't really in episode three, so I thought that was when they could go on their 'date', so hopefully that'll work out with the season plot. I hope you enjoyed it :)
