Chapter 4
Layla had hoped that after a while her brother would get tired of accusing Theo of different things, but sadly she was mistaken. His latest and most absurd accusation was about Theo's parents. According to Stiles the signature on the parking ticket that Theo had received a few years ago, was different from the signature on his transfer form.
"See?" Stiles exclaimed as he slammed the two pieces of paper onto the table.
Layla sighed and leaned forward to pick them up.
"Completely different." He announced waving his hands in the air.
"Stiles, I'm telling you this because I love you. You're becoming obsessed with Theo. You have got to let it go." Layla said, slightly snarky.
"Layla!" Stiles shouted. "I am right."
"Well then what are you saying?" Kira asked. "Theo's parents aren't his parents?"
Stiles was getting frustrated and narrowed his eyes. "I don't know. But he is not Theo from fourth grade."
Layla stood up abruptly, her chair scraping along the ground. "Well you know what Stiles? I no longer give a damn. You can go on about how you don't like him and don't trust him, but guess what? I do. And that's enough for me." She seethed and stormed out.
Scott looked at Stiles and shook his head. "You should have let it go. He's her best friend."
"He abandoned her in fourth grade. I had to pick up the pieces. I had to fix her." Stiles argued.
Scott pursed his lips, before speaking. "You and I both know that without Theo, Layla will always be broken. There will always be a piece missing. You've got to let this go Stiles, for the sake of your sister."
-----
Layla grumbled to herself as she sat beneath a tree. She was supposed to have math right now, but it was with Stiles and she was so angry, she couldn't deal with it.
"Do you want some company?" A masculine voice asked. Layla looked up and saw Theo staring down at her. She nodded, a smile creeping on her face.
"What's wrong?" He asked, sitting beside her.
Layla laughed. " I think the better question is what's right. What are you doing here?"
"Well, I just didn't feel like going to math." Theo replied, shrugging.
"Oh, bad boy. Maybe Stiles was right." She laughed.
Theo frowned. "Do you believe him?" He asked softly.
Layla shook her head. "Theo you were and are still my best friend. I trust you. And I'm pretty sure that you are Theo."
"Pretty sure?" Theo repeated, his eyebrow arched.
Layla laughed. "I'm one hundred percent sure that you are my Theo Raeken."
"You're Theo?" He said amused.
Layla's eyes widened as she realised what she had said. Her leaned her head against the tree and groaned. "Aw crap. I didn't mean to say that."
Theo laughed. "It's okay."
"Layla..." Theo began. "You said that I'm still you're best friend."
Layla began to feel slightly panicked. "Do you not want to be? Cause that's fine. I just -"
She was cut off by Theo. "No, what I meant was I'm glad. I thought that you wouldn't want to spend any time with me." He said sheepishly.
"Of course I would!"
"Really?" Theo asked, uncertainly.
"Definitely." She replied smiling.
"So do you, I don't know. Want to go see a movie with me tomorrow?" He asked scratching the back of his neck.
Layla beamed. "I'd love too."
"Great! I'll pick you up at seven?"
"Sounds perfect."
Theo was grinning like a kid on Christmas. He kissed Layla on the cheek and stood up. Holding out his hand to her, he spoke. "Come on. We're going to math."
Layla's nose scrunched up. "But we're late."
"Fashionably late." He corrected.
Layla laughed and took his hand. Together they walked to math. And somehow, being with Theo made math with Stiles a little more bearable.
-----
Layla and Theo walked into math hand in hand. Most people didn't pass any remarks but the entire gang had math together. Scott and Kira didn't seemed too bothered by it. Malia attempted to look annoyed for Stiles sake. Lydia was beaming, she was overjoyed that her best friend had finally found someone who made her happy. Really happy. True, they were technically together but Lydia hoped that it would only be a matter of time.
Stiles fell off his chair. Quite literally. He was in the middle of leaning over to speak to Scott, when he caught sight of the two. His jaw fell open and he soon fell too.
"Mr Stilinski, can I help you?" Their math substitute asked. He was an old grouchy man that reminded them of Mr Harris and he hated Stiles twice as much.
"No sir, not at all sir. Just you know, giving the floor a hug, it seemed lonely."
The reached sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Well I think you're chair is now feeling lonely. So please get up before I have to give you detention."
"Yes, yes sir!" Stiles stammered, scrambling onto his chair.
Theo and Layla had successfully managed to slip into their seats. "Miss Stilinski and Mr Raeken, don't think I didn't see you two."
"Oh sir, I was on my way to class when I saw Theo. He was lost and I felt I should help him. That was why we were late sir." Layla lied smoothly. She gave their teacher her best puppy eyes.
"Very well. Don't be late again. Either of you." He said.
Layla and Theo smirked.
