Chapter 30

Layla was angry. No, she was livid. She wanted to incinerate Corey and Mason. The anger was pumping through her veins and she paced the parking lot, thinking of where they might go. Her phone rang, interrupting her train of thoughts and reluctantly she answered it, not bothering to check the caller ID.

"Hello?" Layla sighed, lightly touching the left side of her face which was still bleeding badly.

"Layla it's Lydia."

"What do you want?"

"Jordan's planning on leaving town. I know that you and him are connected and I know why. Only you can stop him from leaving Layla." Lydia explained.

Suddenly all Layla's anger fizzled away and all that was left was panic. Jordan couldn't leave, she wouldn't let him. It stuck Layla as rather odd that she had such a sense of belonging and protection when near Jordan, a sense of harmony and peace. But it seemed Lydia knew why.

"Where are you? I'm at the school." Layla informed the strawberry blonde.

"I know, I'm pulling in now."

And sure enough the familiar sight of Lydia's car came into view and Layla rushed forward, climbing into the passengers side. Lydia's eyes widened as she saw Layla's cheek, but the white haired girl brushed off her concern.

As the two girls sped down the road they spoke of where Jordan might go and why he was leaving. Lydia told Layla everything and as she listened to the teen reply, it was almost as though the old Layla was back.

Stiles had told Lydia what Layla had said. How she had told her twin that he had to save her Lydia. Lydia and Layla had been best friends since fourth grade, just after Theo left. They were as close as sisters and Lydia was constantly worrying about her.

"So where do I tie in with Jordan?" Layla questioned, dabbing the tissue that Lydia had given her on her cheek. The slashes were deep, running from her forehead right down to her jawline. She wasn't healing properly and Layla could only assume it was because the beast had been the one to inflict the injuries.

"Jordan told me that he felt a connection to you, one that he couldn't explain." Lydia began. "He didn't understand why he didn't burn you or why he could share his power with you. Gerald assumed that it was the two of you that had a connection, but Chris disagreed. He believed that it was the Goddess inside you and the hellhound side of Jordan that had a connection."

Layla heard the Goddess within her growl at the mention of her name, but Layla pushed her to the back of her mind, finding her nothing more than an inconvenience at that moment.

"Go on." Layla urged the strawberry blonde.

"When we were able to speak to the Hellhound inside of Jordan, we questioned him about you. He said that he had to protect you. That you were important to him. That the Goddess inside you was important to him."

"I still don't understand." Layla sighed as she gave up trying to dab away the blood.

"Legend has it that when the Hellhound was in his original body and the Goddess was in hers, the two met. They travelled together for centuries. They watched as empires were built and crumbled and stood on the sidelines as leaders died and new ones were born.

"The two fell in love and spent many centuries as a couple, destroying anything that dared stand in their way. And then one day the Goddess felt her tether to life break. She fell ill in a sense, and although she wasn't dying in the human way, she was dying all the same.

"Times had changed and the humans had stopped worshipping Gods and Goddess' like her. And so she began to fade from life. The Hellhound was distraught and he wanted to bind his life to hers, so that they might die together. But the Goddess would not allow it. She loved the Hellhound too much and she refused to allow him to give up his life for her.

"And so she faded from existence and the Hellhound was destined to walk the earth alone for all eternity. But the two had made a promise to each other. Some day, no matter how many centuries later and no matter the form they were in, the two would be reunited."

Lydia finished her story and longed to see Layla's reaction, but she couldn't take her eyes off the road. Lydia remembered the shock she felt when Gerald had told her and so it must have had a much bigger impact on the white haired teenager.

Silence enveloped the car and the only sound was the uneven breathing of Layla.

"Lydia, what exactly does that mean?" She spoke softly, although she already knew the answer. She could feel the Goddess within her longing for the Hellhound.

"It means; the reason why you and Jordan feel this unexplainable connection is because the creature bound to you is in love with the creature within Jordan and vice versa. So a part of you loves Jordan, and a part of Jordan loves you."

"you didn't see that coming?"

THIS IS NOT A JORDAN PARRISH FANFICTION. I REPEAT THIS IS NOT A JORDAN PARRISH FANFICTION. PLEASE DO NOT FREAK OUT.

So the whole thing with the hellhound and the goddess, i made that all up and as far as I know its not an actual myth, the two never loved each other (although if it is let me know) so em, i hope you enjoyed and also thank you for 100k reads! That's amazing.

I had planned on making the chapter longer and then I was just like nah, cliffhanger.
