Layla ran corridor after corridor, trying to seek the beast out from amongst the series of screaming teenagers. The smell of the beast was faded, almost undetectable and yet strangely familiar. She had only gotten its scent earlier and she knew what to do.

Jordan was also on her mind as she traced the corridors. She had felt the strongest surge of pain for a moment, and she knew he was in pain. She felt like somebody was stabbing her in the heart, tearing her limb from limb. And then suddenly the pain was gone and Layla knew that Jordan was okay.

She had intended on leaving the match, on finding Jordan just to make sure he was okay. But then the beast came and the Goddess commanded Layla to do what she want meant to, what they were created for.

"Layla." Scott hissed and pulled her into the library without hesitation. He knew that Layla wasn't herself, but somewhere in there was the girl that he had grown up, and that was who he would protect until his dying breath. No matter what he did or what he said.

The library was vacant, but Layla could heard the heavy breathing of the people upstairs and she could smell their fear.

"The beast is coming this way." Layla informed Scott and he nodded, swallowing. "Stay back, this is my mission."

Before Scott could object the library doors flung open and the beast entered. Its enormous body filled the doorway, saliva dripping from its canines as its blue eyes glowed like headlights. The beast roared, and Layla and Scott did the same.

The beast launched itself at the two but Layla pushed Scott to the side with so much force that he was sent flying into one of the bookcases. Layla ran at the beast, hitting it repeatedly. It brought its claws down and sliced the side of her face causing her to howl in pain.

Scott stood, recovering from his hit and went to help Layla, despite her demands. Liam, Malia and Braedon entered, all attacking the beast at once.

"He's mine." Layla growled as the blood ran down her face, but nobody listened.

Braedon shot the beast over and over again until it had no choice but to jump out f the window. Layla burned with fury as she turned to the group.

"You didn't seriously think you were going to have a chance against that thing, did you?" Braedon asked Scott.

"No, but I got its scent." Scott replied.

"Em, guys." Liam spoke, his eyes focused on Layla.

"What?" Braedon snapped, before following Liam's gaze.

Layla stood staring at them, claws and fangs out, her eyes violet as blood ran down her face, dripping onto her neck and collarbone.

"His scent," Layla repeated. "Was something I already had. And now you have ruined everything."

"Layla -" Scott started.

"No." Layla roared and Scott fell to the ground in pain.

"Layla, what are you doing?" Malia shouted as she dropped to her knees beside Scott.

"I am not Layla. I am the Chimera Goddess and you have ruined everything. If you ever do anything like that again I will kill you all." She roared, meaning every word.

She turned and walked away, searching for the beast, searching for Mason. He was the beast and Layla would kill him. Scott knew what she would do and he ran as fast as he could go Mason's car. He had to check, had to know for sure.

Layla watched as he opened the trunk of Mason's car and took out the blood stained shoes. She watched as Mason approached and she neared him, walking slowly.

"Scott, what are you doing in my car?" He questioned.

"It's you." Scott sighed, disbelief filling him.

"What?" Mason questioned, confused. "Liam, what's he talking about?"

Getting impatient with the dramatics, Layla walked forward and pinned Mason to the car, growling at him. "It's you, you little bastard. And I'm going to kill you."

"Layla no." Liam yelled and grabbed Layla. Layla turned to him, intending to attack, but she made the mistake of turning her back on Mason.

As she did so, Corey appeared and camouflaged both him and Mason. "Corey wait." Scott yelled, but the teenager didn't listen.

"Now I'm going to kill both of you little bastards." Layla roared, knowing that Corey was still nearby to hear her.
