Chapter 2

Layla stood with Malia at the hospital reception desk, waiting for Scott and Stiles.

"Malia if you were going away and I told you don't worry, go have fun. What would you think I meant?" Stiles asked, approaching the two girls.

"Fun like bowling? Or sex with other guys?" She replied.

Layla snorted. "Okay yeah now I'm worried." Scott said.

Layla didn't get a chance to ask why, because a man on a stretcher was wheeled past them.

"Hey mom, where's all this coming from?" Scott asked his Melissa who was was pushing the stretcher.

" on 115. There's a major pile up." She replied quickly before turning the corner.

"Okay, there's only one way back into Beacon Hills from the airport." Stiles said.

"115." Scott said, looking at the floor.

"Kira's never going to make it." Layla sighed. She had really missed Kira when she went to New York.

"I can get her." Scott said walking towards the automatic doors. "You guys go to the school, Lydia is probably already there. We will meet you by midnight."

"How are you going to get to her in the middle of a traffic jam?" Stiles shouted.

"We'll make it." Scott confirmed. "Trust me."

Layla shook his head as she watched him walk away. "He never learns does he?"

"Nope." Stiles sighed.

"Come on. Let's go. We don't want to keep a certain ginger waiting any longer." Layla said as she walked away.

"She's strawberry blonde." Stiles hollered.

---

It was absolutely lashing outside, and Layla did not appreciate her newly died hair getting wet.

"Oh my god, what is that smell?" Layla asked Malia.

"It's your brother."

"What?" Stiles said turning to face the two.

"What's wrong with you? You smell terrible." Malia said, concerned.

"Yeah, it's called anxiety. Should be a familiar scent for you by now, seeming as it's a pretty constant state for me."

"Why is this so important to you, Stiles?" Layla asked, looking at her twin.

"It's not. It's not. I don't know. Maybe it is. I asked our dad the other day about his high school friends." He said looking at Layla. She nodded. "Guess how many he still talks to?" He continued addressing them both.

"None. Not a single one. You know these were his best friends and he says he just lost touch with them. So I started thinking about things, you know like I always do."

"Obsessively." Layla mumbled.

"And so I'm thinking. What if Scott is my best friend now, but he's not my best friend for life?"

"Well, doesn't that just happen sometimes?" Malia asked.

"Yeah, but only because we let it happen. And that's what I was saying, how come when we graduate we're just expected to go our separate ways? If these are the best people in my life, why aren't I try in my best to stay with them?"

"I thought that was the plan? The dream."

"The vision." Stiles corrected. "And don't mock the vision."

Layla turned away knowing what would happen next. They'd get all sappy and kiss. In truth Layla was envious of the rest of the group. Stiles and Malia had each other, Kira and Scott had each other and even Layla could see there was something happening between Lydia and Jordan Parrish. Liam was the youngest of the group, but it wouldn't be long until he too had someone.

And then there was Layla. She had often thought about why she was single. She often got asked, and she told them it was by choice. And it was. But it wasn't because she didn't want to have a boyfriend. It wasn't that she didn't want to have that special someone, because she did.

She was scared.

Scared to let someone get that close to her, to allow them to know every little thing about here. She had a constant fear that they would turn that upon her and leave her in the dust. She worried that she wouldn't be able to protect them. That they would get hurt. And this had made her guarded. She built walls around her, not letting anyone past.

It was different with her friends, and not just because most of them (with the exception of her brother) were supernatural beings. The group took care of each other.

Layla was snapped out of her thoughts by a 'smack' followed by an 'ow'. Turning round, she saw Liam on the ground, and Malia had her hand on his chest.

"Scott's in trouble." He yelled.

Layla pulled Liam up and followed Scott's scent. Her fear was building. Thoughts were running through her head.

Is he okay?
Is he injured?
Is he alive?

Layla arrived first and saw an unconscious Kira. Scott was leaning against a wall, with a werewolf type creature with glowing claws, no talons. Layla continued to run towards Scott as she saw someone intervene. It was a male werewolf, no doubt about it. He jumped off the wall, slashing the abnormal werewolf. Layla reached Scott and she went full wolf mode as she helped him up.

They watched the fighting progress between the two, the younger one roared and Layla caught sight of his eyes. Yellow. He was a beta. And by the looks of it a lone wolf. At first it looked like he would win but within seconds the tables turned and the abnormal werewolf with the glowing talons began to have the upper hand. He threw the younger werewolf to the side and turned to Scott.

"No." Layla growled and stepped in front of him. She slashed him across the face leaving another gash. She launched herself at him, kicking and scratching anywhere she could.

"Foolish girl." He laughed in animalistic tone. He held Layla by the neck and dragged his talons along her stomach before throwing her aside.

Layla watched helplessly in complete agony, as he advanced towards Scott. Scott began to fight him, but didn't stand a chance. Raising him into the air by his neck the werewolf plunged his claws into Scott's chest. She watched as the red fell from his eyes and he crumbled to his knees.

Out of the corner of her eye she saw the rest of the group running towards them. The mysterious wolf in the leather jacket stood up, as did Kira. Layla clenched her teeth as she dragged herself up off the ground. Blood was pouring from her stomach, and even though she was healing, it was at a slower pace than usual.

Layla watched as Scott grabbed the wolfs wrist and looked at him, his eyes a bright red once more. He stood up and snapped his arm, and the wolf crippled in pain. Scott pulled the claws out of his chest and threw them to one side.

"I don't know who you are, or what you thought you were going to do. But I'll give you a choice. You can stay and I'll break something else, or you can run." Scott growled.

The no longer blue taloned wolf looked at Stiles, who was currently steadying his sister. Layla wounds were healing slightly faster now that she had Stiles. This was something that could never be explained. They had spoken to Deaton, and the only reason he could come up with was that they had a twin bond. They were stronger together than they were apart.

Normally, Layla would have said that that wasn't true, that twin bonds were myths, they didn't exist. But then again neither did werewolves. Right?

"I'd run." Stiles said.

The werewolf didn't hesitate in fleeing. Everyone gathered together, Layla leaning on Stiles for support.

"Layla you shouldn't have done that. You're hurt." Scott, concerned and worried. Layla waved off his concern. "I'm fine." She objected. "Nothing but a scratch."

"At least let me take some of your pain."

"No chance buddy. I'd say you've dealt with more than your fair share of pain today."

Layla looked at the mysterious werewolf that was walking towards them. He was no longer wolfed out and Layla had to admit he was extremely attractive.

"Who's Mr Shady And Attractive?" Layla asked no one in particular.

"You don't remember me, do you?" He asked.

"Honey, believe me I would definitely remember a face like yours." Layla replied.

He laughed. "I guess I look a little different since the 4th grade."

"No." Layla whispered and took a sharp intake of breath. It couldn't be him. It couldn't be...

"Theo?" Scott asked in shock.

He nodded and smiled. "You know him?" Malia asked.

"He used to."

Layla stood up on her own, most of her wound healed. She couldn't believe that Theo was standing in front of her.

"Hey, Layla." Theo said softly, smiling at her.

"Theo." she said softly. She ran to him. He lifted her into the air and she wrapped her arms around his waist and her arms around his neck. He wrapped his arms around her and placed his head on her shoulder.

"It's you." She mumbled. "You're really here."

"I'm really here Layla."

Stiles cleared his throat and they broke the hug. Stiles gave Layla a look that made it clear that she would be in trouble if she didn't walk back to the group. So she did.

"Trust me, I never thought I'd see you guys again." Theo began. That line hit Layla a little hard.

Back then her and Theo were best friends, completely inseparable. When he left he promised he would come back. And Layla, being so young believed him. But after seven or eight years you begin to lose hope. She now wondered if he ever had any intentions of returning.

She took a deep breath, ridding herself of those thoughts. It didn't matter anymore, because he was here.

"A couple of months ago I heard of an Alpha in Beacon Hills. When I found out his name was Scott McCall, I just couldn't believe it. Not just an Alpha, but a true Alpha."

"What do you want?" Scott questioned.

"I've come back to Beacon Hills. I'm back home with my family. Because I want to be a part of your pack."

Layla smiled slightly.

---

"Stiles, give it a rest." Layla groaned. Her stomach wound had almost healed, now just a scratch. But she was beginning to get a headache. Stiles had been constantly complaining about Theo and how he was suspicious and had ulterior motives.

"We haven't heard from this kid since fourth grade. You don't find that suspicious?"

"Stiles, I get it you think he's shady. But I trust him. Leave it at that."

"You're just saying that because he was your best friend, because you -" Stiles cut himself off just in time.

"Don't you dare go there Stiles, don't you dare."

Layla knew what he was going to say. He was going to say that Layla was in love with Theo. She wasn't, but she definitely, back then, had more than 'friendly' feelings for him. But she was only ten, too young to experience real love. Layla was blind to the fact that this was yet another reason why she was guarded. When she lost Theo, she changed. She wasn't as cheerful and Stiles saw that she had lost a little of that sparkle in her eye. With time that returned, as she began to think less about Theo. That didn't mean that she didn't miss him, but she was never in love with him. Not then.

"I'm more concerned about the guy that just tried to kill me." Scott sighed.

Malia's phone buzzed and the group turned and looked at her, waiting in anticipation.

"I'm in." She sighed in relief and joy. "I passed." Stiles hugged Malia.

"I'm officially a senior." She declared.

Layla squealed in happiness and threw herself at Malia. The two girls hugged and laughed in happiness.

"Thank god." A voice said. The group turned to see Lydia walking up the corridor. "Where have you guys been? And why is there blood on your shirt?" She asked.

"Oh crap." Layla grumbled.

"Doesn't matter. I've got a spare shirt in my locker." Lydia sighed. That was Lydia Martin, prepared for everything and anything. "The whole senior class is here. Are we doing this or not?"

The group smiled at each other and walked down the corridor together.

---

Now in a fresh top curtesy of Lydia, Layla stood behind her brother, waiting to sign the shelf. Stiles signed the shelf, waiting for a second to look at the signature that Derek had placed when he was a senior. Layla smiled at that.

Stiles turned and handed the marker to his twin. "All yours sis." He said.

Layla stepped forward and placed the tip of the marker onto the shelf.

L . S

She wrote before handing the marker to Lydia. The last member of the group to sign was Scott. He signed his own name, before hesitating. Underneath it he wrote,

A A

Allison Argent.

Layla blinked back tears and smiled. She deserved to have her name there. She deserved to be remembered. Scott walked back to the group, wrapping his arm around Kira.

"She would've been with us." Stiles said.

"Yeah." Scott said.

"She still is." Lydia said.

A/N

So here's chapter two! So I decided that Layla and Theo used to be best friends until he left.
What about the senior shelf signing thing. Was I the only one who teared up? I miss Allison so much!!
