Chapter 17
"No Melissa, no. She can't be dying." Layla choked out as she held the younger girls hand.
Melissa had sent Mason off to find Liam, and told them that Hayden was dying.
"I'm sorry sweetheart. There's nothing else I can do." Melissa replied, sadly and hugged the blue haired girl.
"I can't lose her Melissa. I can't lose anyone else."
--
"I never lied about why I came to Beacon Hills." Theo told Stiles as the two stood outside the police station. "I came here for a pack. I came for the werecoyote, the one who's first instinct is to kill. I came for the banshee, the girl surrounded by death. I came for the dark kitsune, the beta with anger issues. I came for void Stiles. I came for the god. That's the pack I want." Theo roared. "Fortunately, it doesn't include Scott."
So many thoughts and emotions were running round Stiles' head, like a whirlwind. But one thing nagged at him, above all others.
"The God?" He questioned, his eyebrows furrowing.
Theo smiled, malevolently. "Layla."
"Layla, what do you mean Layla? She's just a beta."
Theo shook his head an laughed. "Oh she's so much more Stiles, so much more."
"What have you done to her?" Stiles growled.
"Me? Nothing. I didn't need to, it was the doctors that got at her. Before she was even born, she was destined for this life. She was destined to be the Doctors greatest success. Well, she wasn't supposed to be bitten, but in the end that only made her stronger. Tell me Stiles, do you know the legend of the Chimera? The myth behind the God?"
Stiles shook his head, even though Theo wasn't looking for an answer.
"The Chimera was a god. The child of Typhon and Echidna. A female God, with incredible powers. Chimera possessed the ability to compel someone into doing as she pleased. She could manipulate matter and time, as well as those around her. Mythology states that the gods never die, but they fade as people stop worshipping them. That was the case with Chimera, with time, the goddess, along with all her powers faded. When the doctors first began experimenting, they considered this, and they wanted to bring the god back to life. Reincarnate her if you like. They needed a candidate who was strong, and powerful, someone who was destined for great power.
And so they chose Layla. For Layla's entire life, she has been their lab rat. They nipped and tucked and sliced and even drilled at her, until they achieved perfection. It was my job to oversee her progression, how she has succeeded. She is their greatest success, she is the all powerful. More powerful than Scott or Lydia or Parrish. Layla is a god."
"You sick son of a bitch." Stiles snarled and lunged at Theo, pining him to the bumper of the jeep. "You've been using her. You knew, you knew what they did to her. You bastard, I'm going to kill you."
Theo's laughing face turned serious and he pushed Stiles away with ease. "No, it wasn't like that. When I fell in love with Layla I -"
But Stiles didn't need to hear anymore. He had manipulated his sister, had her twisted around his finger, and Stiles refused to hear anymore. He drew his fist back, and moments later it connected with Theo's jaw. Theo stood up and laughed.
"That's it." He shouted. "That's void Stiles. It felt good didn't it?"
Stiles didn't reply. He was blinded by his rage. Nobody messed with his best friend, and nobody sure as hell didn't mess with his twin sister. Scott was one thing, but Stiles would kill for Layla. He brought his fist back and punched Theo again, knocking him to the ground.
Theo turned his head and soar out blood onto the Tarmac. "We won't tell Scott, because you can't lose your best friend. And you can't tell Layla, because you're worried that she'll believe me over you. You may have needed Layla, but we both know you never needed Scott."
Stiles kneeled beside Theo and grabbed his collar, pulling him upwards. "You hate me. But you'll get it, this is the hard part. Because you can't save Scott and your dad." Theo seethed.
But what neither of them knew was that Layla too, may just need saving. Not necessarily physically, but emotionally.
--
Layla looked at Melissa nervously. Hayden was getting worse, she was dying and Liam still wasn't here.
"I need to get him." She told Melissa. "I have to go find Liam."
Melissa looked at Layla, a sad look on her face. Melissa had know Layla ever since she was small child who wore pigtails in her hair, and watched the little mermaid on loop. She had watched as she grew, as her interests and style changed. Melissa was there to see her off on her first date, the one who she came to after her mother died. But looking at Layla now, Melissa was astounded at how drastically she had changed. Surely this couldn't be the same child? The teenager who sat before her held the weight of the world on her shoulders and was constantly worrying about her friends and family.
The girl before her couldn't sleep at night because of the nightmares and memories that plagued her mind. The girl before her barely smiled or laughed. The girl before her had experienced more death in her eighteen years than anyone should. The girl before her was broken, and Melissa didn't know how she could help her.
"Okay honey." Melissa whispered.
"Look after her for me?" Layla asked, her voice breaking.
"You know I will." Melissa replied and smiled sadly.
Layla bent down and kissed Hayden on her forehead. She hugged the girl, who couldn't hug her back because she was unconscious.
"Please don't leave me." Layla whispered in Hayden's ear and Melissa had to blink back tears.
Layla walked towards the door, when she was called back by Melissa. Layla turned round to find the woman bounding towards her. Melissa wrapped her arms around the blue haired girl, hugging her tightly. Layla returned the hug. Melissa was like a mother to her, and meant so much to her.
"Be careful." Melissa told Layla.
"I always am." Layla replied and smiled. But the smile didn't reach her eyes.
Layla left the room, in search of Liam. Time was ticking, and every second was precious.
--
Layla sniffed for the scent of Liam, but to know avail. She knew what she had to do.
She had to become a slave to the moon.
She just hoped that Stiles could bring her back.
Layla looked up and the moon and breathed deeply. Closing her eyes she felt its light shine upon her, felt as she absorbed its power. Layla's teeth and ears lengthened and her nails morphed into claws. Layla opened her eyes and caught her reflection in a near by puddle. Her eyes shone a bright violet, a lilac colour around the rim of her iris.
Once again she inhaled deeply, hoping to catch Liam's scent. And she did. Along with Scott's, and it was coming from the direction of the school. She bounded towards the school, her movements so fast that she was a mere flash of colour in the distance. She arrived and the school to find the double doors opened. She looked inside to find both Liam and Scott in their werewolf form. Liam looked completely out of control as he looked over Scott who lay on a broken table. Liam began to slash his class along Scott's face and chest, without remorse. Layla ran into the room, growling.
"LIAM." She roared.
Her voice had so much authority that Liam stopped in motion, his clawed hand raised above Scott's body. Slowly Liam turned to look at Layla, who glowered back at him with her violet eyes.
"What do you think you're doing? Do you think this is what Hayden would want? Because if you do, you are sadly mistaken. She's dying Liam. We need to be there with her." Layla told him.
Liam looked at his bloodied hand and sunk to the ground. Layla rushed towards the both of them, checking Scott, who in return waved her concern off with a painful smile. Layla turned to Liam and pulled him to her chest and rocked him back and forth like a mother would. He sobbed into her shirt, while Layla just continued to comfort him.
Mason ran in minutes later, a solemn look on his face. He gulped as he looked at the two, not sure if he could speak. "She's gone. Hayden died a few minutes ago."
Layla and Liam ran through the school corridors and pushed through the double doors towards Hayden. They were running as as quick as they could, but it didn't matter because they were already too late.
--
Scott gasped in pain as Theo plunged his claws in his abdomen.
"They're not like you." Scott rasped. "They never will be. Layla will never love you when she finds out. When she finds out what you've done, what you're really like.
"She'll understand." Theo growled in response. "And as for your so called pack, is that because I'm a chimera? Because I'm not a real werewolf?"
"Because you're barely even human."
--
Layla screamed in sorrow as she watched Liam cradle Hayden's lifeless body. She crumbled to the ground, screeching.
"No." Layla screamed. "She can't be dead, she can't be. Hayden wake up" She wailed, reaching out for the younger girl. Liam watched as the blue haired girl pressed her forehead to Hayden's. "Please wake up. Please don't leave me. Please."
"She's gone Layla." Liam whispered.
Layla shook her head, whimpering. She looked up and followed Liam gaze to find Parrish standing in front of them, his red eyes blazing. "Please don't take her Jordan. Don't take her." Layla sobbed.
Liam bent down and kissed Hayden's cheek and Layla did the same, knowing there was nothing she could do. Parrish bent down and lifted Hayden from Liam's arms and walked away, carrying the body of the sixteen heard of girl, who had been taken away from life too soon.
Liam scooped Layla into his arms, and she wrapped hers around him in return, and together they cried in sorrow. Cried for the loss of yet another loved one.
--
Layla didn't know why she was here, or where here even was. She just remembered tucking Liam into bed, literally. He cried himself to sleep and Layla brought him home and put him to bed, he was actually quite light for a sixteen year old werewolf.
After that Layla just walked. She let her feet guide her, knowing that they were going the right way. And sure enough Layla reached the clearing. Her movements were robotic and her eyes blazed violet. There stood all the bodies of the once dead chimeras. Lydia lay across the ground and managed to glance at Layla. Layla reminded her of Parrish, as if she wasn't controlling her movements, and maybe she wasn't.
Layla scanned each chimera, her eyes landing on Hayden who stared at her. Layla knew that she should be running to Hayden, scooping her up and screaming for joy, but she felt oddly empty.
"I'm your Alpha. And all of you, all of you belong to me." Theo announced, pointing at each chimera.
"I think you're mistaken." Layla spoke, her words addressed to Theo as her Violet eyes blazed.
"Oh so very mistaken."

A/N
AND THAT IS THE CHAPTER UNTIL SEASON 5B!
This episode messed me up and involved a lot of sobbing on my behalf, especially when I thought Hayden and Scott were dead, you can't play with my feelings like that! Theo needs to sit his ass down tbh, but anyway. Can't wait for 5B!!
Also for the chimera research I made some of it up, the factual parts I got from Wikipedia.
