Chapter 15
The car ride only got worse after Layla's announcement. Questions were fired at her from every angle. Eventually she couldn't take it and she screamed. Loud. Theo changed the topic and honestly, Layla didn't feel any better. Theo told Scott and Layla that Stiles killed Donovan.
"I saw Donovan go down." Theo said. "Stiles hit him with the wrench and then he just kept hitting him."
Layla clenched her jaw and shook her head. Stiles wouldn't do something like that. But then her mind drifted back to the night that Stiles came home and was frantic. The words that he had written were branded in Layla's mind.
Donovan dead.
But that didn't mean that it was intentional, right? It could've been self defence. Donovan had threatened her father and had done violent acts even when he was human.
"Maybe it was because he threatened to kill his dad, or maybe it was because Stiles felt that he had to keep going because he had to defend himself."
"That's because he did!" Layla yelled, defending her brother.
Theo shook his head. "He just kept hitting him."
"That's not possible." Scott mumbled.
"He crushed that kids skull." Theo said. "I heard it cracking and splintering. By the time I pulled Stiles off of him, half of Donovan's head was kicked in. It didn't even look real. I kept telling myself that it was self defence, but I'm sorry. I've never seen anything like that and I've never seen anyone that angry."
"Well, if you don't shut you're mouth, you're going to Theo. You should've just stopped after, it was self defence, because that was the only true statement that has come out of your mouth in the last five minutes. Stiles is my brother, my twin. I know him better than he knows himself. And if, if he hurt Donovan, it was self defence. That kid was so violent, he threatened my father and attempted to stab me a few years ago after things went down the drain for him. Because he blamed my father and when he couldn't get to him, he tried to hurt me. If anything happened it was self defense. That wound on Stiles' shoulder, that was Donovan. Donovan tried to kill my brother." Layla screamed. She was livid and couldn't believe that Theo could spout such lies. Her brother would never, ever do anything like that.
"Layla, it's true." Theo said.
"Shut up." She growled. Scott hadn't said anything, he just stared at the wrench in his hands. "Scott, you don't believe him, right?"
"Layla -" Scott began and from his tone, Layla could tell that he did.
"Screw you." She screamed. "How could you believe that? It's bullshit and you know it."
--
Layla, Theo and Scott ran through the double doors to the emergency room. It was complete chaos.
"They're already here." Scott said
Layla didn't respond. She was furious with both of them. They walked around the corner and Theo spoke.
"This wasn't them." He said.
Layla had a feeling that she knew who it was, and Scott confirmed it.
"It was Corey."
They ran around the hospital, searching for Corey but to no avail. The three met back at the middle corridor, each of them coming from different directions.
"Security is still looking." Scott told them.
"I didn't see anything either." Theo said.
Once again, Layla said nothing. The elevator beside them began to open and close of its own accord and the lights started to flicker. That was not a good sign.
"Now they're here." Scott said.
They went outside, searching for Corey and they found him.
He was dead.
"We've got to find Hayden." Scott said.
Layla's eyebrows furrowed and she felt slightly hurt. Her priority was to find Hayden and keep her safe, that was everyone's at the minute.
But did that mean that she didn't matter to them?
---
Layla was searching for Hayden with Scott. Their best bet was at The Sinema. They went there in silence. Layla didn't want to speak to Scott and Scott had nothing to say. They had a silent agreement to speak about her being a chimera when they were all together. When they arrived they looked at each other and nodded.
They were here.
They ran in and found Liam sprawled along the ground and Hayden was being cornered by one of the doctors. Scott roared and wolfed out and Layla did the same.
Only it felt different this time.
She felt stronger, more powerful.
Scott and Layla attacked the doctor, while Liam got back into his feet. Layla pushed Hayden behind her, nodding at her to close the barred door.
"You're eyes are violet." Hayden whispered. "You're like me, aren't you? You're a chimera."
Layla nodded and turned back to the doctor. Liam had grabbed ahold of one of its arms, and punched it several times in its abdomen. The doctor didn't seem to be affected and threw Liam across the room like a rag doll. Now it was Scott's turn. He went up against the doctor, punching and scratching. But it made no different. The doctor flipped him in the air and threw him to the ground. Scott's back whacked against the floor with a loud crack.
The doctor turned its attention to Layla.
"I will not fight you." It said in its robotic tone.
"Well, that makes things easier for me." She growled in response and charged at the doctor.
She kicked him in the chest and unlike Scott and Liam's attacks, the doctor stumbled backwards.
"You're stronger." The doctor commented.
Layla ignored him and ran at the doctor once more, kicking and scratching. Clearly, the doctor was annoyed at this point and decided to go against its previous statement of not fighting Layla. He grabbed her arm and flipped her like he had Scott, but she landed on her feet. The doctor tilted its head, giving Layla the impression that this action surprised him. Nonetheless, he attacked Layla again, but she saw it coming. She dodged his arm with a simple sidestep.
The doctor did not want to maim Layla, she was too important for that to happen. He simply brought out a needle, filled with a purple liquid.
Wolfsbane.
But this was no ordinary wolfsbane. It was a concoction made by the doctors that would cause Layla immense pain, but would not cause her any physical damage.
It was like hurting her, without hurting her.
Of course, if the wolfsbane was given in a big enough dosage it would kill her. Layla knew that he was going to try and inject her with the wolfsbane, but she had to protect Hayden.
"Layla go." Hayden cried. "Don't let him hurt you."
Layla closed her eyes for a split second before opening them and stared at the doctor with determination.
"Your life means more to me than mine does." Layla told Hayden.
She charged at the doctor one last time, hoping that she could save Hayden. Her blue hair whipped out behind her as she slashed the doctor with her claws. The doctor let her and reached his arm up, the wolfsbane in hand. Layla quickly latched her hands around the doctors arm, attempting to get the wolfsbane off him. But she never anticipated his next move.
He tilted the needle downwards and injected it into her wrist, straight into her blood stream. Layla stood, shocked for a moment, before the pain hit her.
She screamed. Her scream was one filled with pain and Hayden cried out for her. Layla withered to the ground, twitching and convulsing with the pain that surged through her. Layla tried to fight through it, tried to stand up, but the pain was too immense.
She watched as Liam got up and attacked the doctor again, only to be thrown to the ground. Layla tried to stand up once again, managing to get to her knees, her limbs shaking. She gritted her teeth through the pain.
Hayden.
That was her only thought. She needed to protect her. She had to.
The doctor attacked Scott, flinging him against one of the metal poles. Layla screamed through her gritted teeth and finally got to her feet. Layla shakily ran to Liam and helped him up.
"We've got to get Hayden out of here. Go." She told him.
Liam nodded and called out for Hayden. Layla turned and saw that Theo was here. He rushed to help Scott.
Why did Theo always turn up whenever the doctors did?
Layla ran out back with Liam, looking for Hayden. They found her. One of the doctors were looking over her, a needle pressed at the base of her neck. He injected her with the Mercury and Liam and Layla both watched in horror as Hayden's eyes turned silver.
"No." Liam screamed.
The doctor left and Liam and Layla rushed to Hayden. Layla pulled the dark haired girl into her arms, rocking her back and forth. Her eyes faded back to her normal colour and Layla sighed in relief.
"You're okay." She told her. "You're going to be okay."
--
Theo and Scott found them and we're both shocked and relieved to find Hayden alive. Liam turned to talk to them and Layla kept her arms wrapped around Hayden. Hayden hugged Layla back.
"I'm okay." She told her.
"But what if you weren't Hayden? I can't lose you. You're like my little sister." Layla said and blinked back tears.
Hayden smiled at the blue haired girl. "I'm not going anywhere." She said to Layla. "And you are my sister." She added.
Hayden felt safe with Layla. They were family. Layla was probably the only one who had any clue what Hayden was going through. Layla smiled at the girl.
"I saw the needle go in." Liam explained. "And her eyes just filled up with Mercury. They turned completely silver."
"She looks okay." Theo commented. "Maybe she'll heal." He added although he didn't seemed to convinced.
"Or maybe she won't." Scott contradicted. Layla narrowed her eyes at Scott.
"What if something is happening to her on the inside?" Liam said.
"Get them to the animal clinic." Scott told Theo. "I'll meet you there."
"God, why does he feel the need to speak as if we're not even here." Layla mumbled to Hayden and rolled her eyes.
Hayden laughed slightly. This made Layla smile, she needed to keep Hayden calm, they needed to remain hopeful.
They all piled into Theo's car and began to follow Scott to the animal clinic. Hayden lay against Liam's chest. Her eyelids were drooping and Layla was getting worried.
"Keep her awake." Theo said. "I don't think it's a good idea for her to fall asleep."
"Not shit, Sherlock." Layla growled. She put her hand on Hayden's cheek. "Hey Hayden, stay awake, okay? We're nearly there." She said, her voice softer.
"How do we help her?" Liam asked.
"I don't know. If it's wolfsbane poisoning, you burn it out. But I don't know anything about Mercury. Especially the kind made by them." He answered.
"Is she going to heal?" Liam asked, distressed.
"The problem is she's not really like us Liam. None of them are, they're more like cheap knock offs. She might not be as strong as we are." Theo replied.
"Wow, thank you Theo. you hear that Hayden, Theo called us cheap." Layla commented sarcastically.
Liam's eyes widened. "So it's true, you are one?"
Layla nodded. "That's the assumption that I've come to."
"She's not a real werewolf." Theo continued, referring to Hayden and ignored Layla's comment.
"What if we turn her into one?" Liam asked, rubbing his hand across his forehead.
"It's an idea. Except you and I can't do that." Theo said.
"Scott can." Liam replied.
--
Scott walked in and received a death glare from Layla. She had heard the conversation that he had with her twin and she really wanted to punch him. But Hayden was her priority right now.
"She's getting worse." Liam said.
"It's got to be some kind of Mercury poisoning." Theo commented.
Theo. Right now Layla wanted to punch him too. She didn't know who she wanted to punch more. Theo, because he had accused her brother of murder, or Scott because he believed that her brother was capable of murder.
Layla knew that it was self defence. So she didn't understand why Scott didn't believe him too.
"Scott, remember what you promised me? You said you'd do everything you could to save her." Liam spoke. "If she's a real werewolf we can save her. You've gotta give her the bite."
"It's our only choice." Layla said.
Scott looked up, his eyes flickering from Layla to Liam to Hayden.
"No." He said.

A/N
Omg this episode! So many emotions!!!
I was crying when I thought Hayden was dead, but I'm really worried now that Scott won't give her the bite. Also Theo is actually really annoying me. Like dude, why? And my poor Sciles heart, why?!? Why would Scott believe Theo, who is super shady and he hasn't seen since fourth grade, over the guy who has been his best friend for years? I don't understand. The promo for next weeks episode I'm not ready.
