Luna sat on the edge of Olivia's bed, with her legs crossed and her chin in the palm of her hand while she waited for her friend to finish getting ready. Liv had somehow roped Luna into joining her in meeting Layla at the rehab center to talk. Which she was very hesitant on but she figured the reason why Layla had been so weird and a bit mean to her had to do with what she was going through.
Liv clapped her hands together. "You ready?"
"I've been ready," Luna sighed. "I was waiting on you."
"I didn't take that long," Liv scoffed. "Come on. Let's go!"
"Wait..." Luna stopped in her tracks, hearing footsteps outside of the room. "I'll just wait here for like 5 seconds."
Liv rolled her eyes and shook her head. "You can't ignore him forever."
Luna just shrugged her shoulders and remained in her friend's room for a bit longer, hoping not to run into Jordan. Once she felt as if the coast was clear, she grabbed her purse and threw it over her shoulder, and ran down the steps, stopping once she saw the door to Billy's former office still had the remnants of the baby's room set up.
It was no secret that the baby was not Jordan's but he still felt a sense of responsibility to Simone for some reason. And according to Liv, Jordan had been extremely helpful to Simone which was especially hurtful to Luna, but she would never admit that to anyone.
She shook her head, turned on her heel, and retreated over to the kitchen, running into basically the entire Baker family minus Mrs. Baker.
"Liv...you ready to go?"
"Yes!" Liv exclaimed. "Let's go. Bye, guys."
Luna waved. "Bye, Mr. Baker."
Jordan stared at her almost as if he was waiting for her to greet him or at least say something but she did not. In fact, she didn't even bother to spare him a single look as she walked past him and Billy and followed Liv over to her car.
"So..." Liv glanced over at Luna who was driving. "Are you gonna ignore Jordan forever? I know we got into an argument when I tried to get you guys to speak but seriously, Luna, you guys were friends before you dated."
"Jordan and I were barely friends," Luna scoffed. "But...it's definitely getting hard to avoid him considering you and I are best friends."
"Exactly!" Liv exclaimed. "So, you'll talk to him, right?"
"Or I could just get a new friend?" she suggested. "Sounds a whole lot better than talking to my ex-boyfriend."
Liv let out a scoff, nudging her friend's shoulder who had let out a groan, telling her that she needed to focus on the road and also demanding that she stop talking about Jordan. Which Olivia had agreed to, keeping her mouth shut the entire ride to the rehab center, not wanting to be the reason why they were fighting once again.
Luna would be lying if she said she wasn't the least bit nervous to see Layla. The two friends were...barely friends at this point. They hadn't talked much since the day at the cafe when Jordan had started that idiotic fight. Which was probably the longest they've gone without communicating considering Layla had been checked in the rehab center for weeks now.
They strolled into the center, Liv had practically yanked on Luna's hand once she saw the hesitance in her face. But, she couldn't help it, being inside of the facility had made her nerves act up.
Layla emerged from the wherever she had previously been, greeting the two girl's with smiles and directed them outside for a walk. Liv and Layla were heavily into a conversation while Luna stayed quiet, fiddling with her keys as she nodded along to whatever the hell they were talking about and acting as if she was listening.
"Luna?" Liv nudged. "Anything you want to share?"
"Uh, no...I don't think so," she shook her head. "It's...nice to see you, Layla."
"Yeah," Layla nodded. "You too, Luna."
Olivia grabbed both their hands, stepping in between them and sparing them looks. "Can you guys just...I don't know. Hug this out? I'd really like for my best friends to best friends, again."
Layla dropped Liv's hand and turned to Luna, hesitantly opening her arms out for a hug making Luna step forward and reluctantly hug her.
"So..." Layla pulled away with a smile. "How are you and Jordan?"
"They bro—"
"We're fine," Luna lied, shooting Liv a glare.
"Oh, yeah," Liv scoffed. "They're just fine."
"Listen, guys, as nice as this was," Layla dropped her shoulders and shot them a small smile. "I should probably go back, now."
Liv nodded, suspiciously. "Right. We'll see you again."
Layla gave them fake smiles, pulling them in for a hug before walking away while Luna stared at Liv, watching as the wheels basically turned in her head.
"Dude. Whatever you're thinking...stop!"
"That was suspicious, right?" Liv quirked her eyebrow. "She just left right after we were having a nice moment. And her smile it was—"
"Please, shut up," Luna cut her off. "You are going all detective Liv on this and no one needs that."
"Why'd you lie about you and Jordan?" Liv questioned.
"Why didn't you tell her about Asher?" Luna challenged. "Uh-oh, what's that I hear? Silence."
"Those are two entirely different situations," Liv tried to argue. "But, whatever, we're still on for tomorrow, right?"
"Yes, definitely," Luna nodded. "I need more community service hours for my college apps and this way I get to meet Kia. I've been dying to meet Spencer's ex-girlfriend."
"Just don't call her Spencer's ex-girlfriend," Liv warned. "She's not the biggest fan of that."
♡♡♡
The following day was spent in Crenshaw. Luna and Liv had driven over to the city and met with Kia and they spent their time doing community outreach and gaining some service hours which Luna was in desperate need of especially for her college applications.
Luna and Kia had met officially and both girls sort of clicked immediately. She definitely understood what Spencer had seen in Kia. She was incredibly passionate about her community, she was sweet as hell, and it definitely helped that she was pretty.
Once they were done doing their community outreach they headed over to Spencer's house. All three girls had agreed to help Spencer with passing out some tickets for Coop's show that same night. Despite, Luna agreeing to helping pass out tickets, she wasn't expecting to be face to face with Jordan, yet again. But, avoiding him forever was definitely not ideal.
Jordan spoke up. "So, how was your visit with Layla?"
"Good," Liv lied. "Fine."
Luna looked over at her friend from her seat at the dining table. "If you call incredibly awkward, good. Then yeah, it was great."
"That bad, huh?" Kia asked.
"Did she flip out when she found about you and Asher or what?" Jordan asked Liv.
"More like she didn't tell her," Luna sang, continuing to stuff tickets into the envelope.
"Oh, kind of like how you didn't tell her that you and Jordan broke up," Liv shot back, pointing at Jordan and causing her friend to immiedately shut up. "I didn't purposely lie, she's doing great but she still seems hesitant about her recovery. And I don't want to say anything that might make things worse."
"Well, isn't transparency a part of her recovery?" Jordan wondered. "I mean, you should just be honest with her and tell her the truth, Liv."
Spencer and Dillon had emerged from the back of the house, engaging in a small spat, making the air in the room feel a bit tense. But, things cooled down once Asher arrived at the house.
"All right the squad's all here," Spencer nodded. "We appreciate you, man."
"Yeah, no problem," Asher slipped his arm around Liv's waist. "So what's the plan?"
"Divide and conquer," Kia piped up.
"Nope. Nope. Mm-mm. Nope," Jordan immediately denied. "I'm not playing the third wheel to the Asher-Liv reality show today. Sorry."
"I'll go with you," Luna volunteered. "You know, just so Asher and Liv can go together."
Jordan sent her a small smile that she did not return.
"So, you and Olivia are a thing now?" Dillon glanced at the new couple. "Like for real, for real?"
"Yeah," Asher responded.
"You better treat her right because soon as I turn 18, she'll be the first person I call," Dillon smirked. "Her and Luna, of course. But, that one..." he pointed at Jordan. "Already made it easy for me to steal his girl."
"Thank you for that painful reminder," Jordan joked.
Luna let out an awkward laugh, holding up the envelope in her, and made eye contact with Jordan, gesturing towards the door. She was hoping for this entire day to just be over because whenever she was around him, it took a whole lot of willpower to not forgive him.
"So...are we gonna talk?" Jordan spoke first. "Or are we gonna do this in complete silence?"
"We can talk," she sighed. "Look, I—"
"I miss you," Jordan blurted out. "Literally every single day. I see you around my house and you won't even look me in the eyes, we have classes together and you don't even look my way. Do you know how that makes me feel?"
"Do you know how I felt finding out my boyfriend almost got a girl pregnant?" she retorted. "You're...you're trying to guilt me into forgiving you and it's not working. I don't think I can be with someone I don't trust..." she let out a shaky breath. "But, I wanna be your friend, Jordan. It's really hard to avoid you."
Jordan dropped his shoulders and let out a groan. "Why didn't you tell Layla we broke up? There has to be a reason. Do you miss me?"
"I didn't want to have to explain what happened," she bitterly stated. "It's embarrassing enough having to watch you and Simone every day at school. It's not something I want to relive, either."
"Luna..." Jordan reached out for her hand. "I can't just be your friend."
"Then I don't know if we'll ever get back to a good place," Luna yanked her hand back. "Tell Liv I'm sorry but...I can't be here anymore."
