Lucia sat in front of him on the chair, the counter was the only boundary between them. She kept her elbow on the brown wood, placing her chin on her palm and stared at the man.
Hoseok took a few minutes to examine her face, before starting,"Estoy solo," Her eyebrows raised in surprise, such a beautiful man, yet he's lonely? That's the most surprising thing she's heard so far.
"por qué? You're a handsome man, don't you already have women wrapped around your fingers?"
She batted her eyelashes, realising that her words were utterly offending and rude. She cupped her mouth, eyes widening, she felt at a loss of words at Hoseok's ridiculously surprised face.
"Oh Dios mío, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to offend you," She instantly apologised, Hoseok raised a eyebrow, sipping his wine whilst staring at her.
¿Está el ojo coqueteando? She thought, looking at him up and down before clearing her throat, Hoseok's eyes, yet again, went up to meet hers, and she felt her breathing get stuck.
He was incredibly beautiful, in fact, under his eyes, she felt small and ugly, knowing that he's probably not pleased with her face and the way she spoke, she knew that she'll be in trouble if he complains to her boss.
"I think you're not comfortable with me, I'll call someone else." She spoke, getting up from her seat, her heart dropped when Hoseok instantly went up to grip her wrist, eyes closing, she tried hard not to snap.
She quickly pulled her wrist out of his grip, pulling her lace gloves up further, he glanced at them for a second, before his lips tugged up,
"No, quedarse. I want to talk to only you, they're really vulgar while talking," She quietly laughed, sitting back down. His lips tugged up further in a big smile when seeing her laugh.
"It's the way things work. Men don't come here to talk," She said, Hoseok hummed, sipping his wine, he pushed his glass to her, "Más," He breathed out, not at all feeling drunk, but a little dizzy.
"Uh-uh, no money, no drinks," Hoseok muttered some Korean words under his breath, fishing into his pant pocket, he slipped ten gold coins on the table, and she gasped, "eso es demasiado!" She yelled, quickly hiding the coins under her hands.
"There are many robbers around here, you can't just swap gold coins like that," She whispered to him, making him laugh, "I'm a soldier, senorita." He declared, catching her off guard. She then, felt no more allowance to speak anymore.
"Are you scared?" He teased, she quickly shook her head, flaring her nostrils at him, "Not at all," She said, turning her back on him, pouring more wine into his glass, "estúpida," She muttered under her breath.
"I heard that, senorita." Hoseok breathed out, chuckling when her body stiffed, she was getting flustered by his attractive features, "H-Here," She kept the glass in front of him, sitting back down on her place.
Hoseok glanced up at her red cheeks, moving his hand to lightly brush his fingers against them, she flinched, eyes widening as she looked up at him, then, he saw her black eyes, so dark, he felt lost in them, never had he ever felt so much attached to a woman when it's barely even an hour since he met her.
"There's something about you, senorita," He muttered, picking up the glass and chugging down the wine in one go, she watched in surprise, "What? Am I that attractive that you can't look away?" He asked, leaning a little closer.
She leaned back, eyes shutting, "No!" He laughed at her flustered face, looking bold and confident outside, she was really shy inside. "You're different," He declared, slipping his glass to her again.
She sighed, turning on her seat to pick up the wine bottle, in the meantime, Hoseok finally got a full-view of her backless dress, he did feel like a pervert drooling over a woman, but that didn't stop him from staring at all.
She turned around to face him, realising that he was staring at her back, her eyes widened, "¡Pervertido! ¡Púdrete!" Hoseok was not much surprised to see her curse or get flustered anymore, in just a few minutes, he became used to her.
She put the bottle on the counter, biting her lips, "Don't act like a pervert," She said, flaring her nostrils, he watched as she poured him wine, "I'll try not to," He said, shrugging.
Suddenly, his eyes fell on the man who was sitting miles away from him, kissing a bartender, he lightly pushed her, getting her attention and urging her towards them, she raised her eyebrows, "Wanna try that?" She was about to say something, but he placed his finger on her mouth.
"Shut up now. Listen to me, I gave you those gold coins for me, not not you to curse at me,"
He snapped back, twirling the glass between his fingers, after this, he felt just a little drunk, he was surprised at how fast he got drunk talking to her.
"I lost a dear friend in the war," He said, making her silent, she listened, not saying a word. "We trained together, when I was new and barely knew bits of war, he helped me a lot adjusting to the place." He said, biting his lips as he remembered the last moments of his friend.
"We were so close, we almost knew each other better than the other. I'm feeling lonely and alone now that he's gone,"
He breathed the smell of her perfume, trying not to cry, he batted his tears away, there was no way a soldier was going to cry in front of a lowly bartender.
"My parents, they died in an accident, I'm left with no one to comfort me, I get being a man means to be brave, but what about when I'm broken?"
She felt her breath get stuck in her throat, he spoke words almost in emotions, she almost felt his pain, how he felt, it reminded her of how her father killed her mother, and ended up dying too.
"I don't want to go home, it feels lonely, and sad, I want to stay somewhere where I can be happy," He spoke, gulping down the wine, he didn't hesitate to grab the whole bottle and chug it down, he felt like his throat was on fire, he needed something to calm down.
A saviour, he lacked. "Puto mundo, it's so cruel," He said in pain, sniffing and hugging himself, Lucia blinked away her tears, "You can laugh if you want," Hoseok said, she knitted her eyebrows, tilting her head.
"What do you mean?" She asked, he looked up at her, his brown eyes tugging in a smirk, "Don't you think it's pathetic, a man crying?" He asked, she shook her head, hesitating in even touching him a bit.
"No, it's fine if you cry, everyone deserves to cry and let out their emotions," He laughed a little, his first finger moving across her chin, he tugged her face up, she looked at him with the same fire he did,
"You're really a different woman, senorita." He said, she moved away from his touch, glaring at him, "Of course I am. Every woman is different," She growled back, he chuckled, gripping her shoulder when she tried to get up.
"Do you need more coins to give me a shelter? If not, then give me a place to stay at," He said, she raised her eyebrows, holding the empty bottle and glass, she turned away to wash the glass and dump the empty bottle, before looking at him again,
"There is no empty cottage, they are all full," She said, he hummed, looking at her hands, "Then, just take me to your house," She gasped, "Pervertida! Stop flirting!" She slapped his arm, earning a surprised look from him.
"You're extremely aggressive, senorita."
He said, smirking, "And you're an extremely big flirt, señor," She said, making him laugh, he licked his lips.
"I'm known to be a really attractive man in my quarters, many women are after me," She scoffed, shaking her head at the self-appreciation, "Why? Are you jealous that there is no man after you?" He asked, laughing again.
"No," She whined this time, twisting his heart in a way, that he felt even more attached to her. "Will you take me to your house?" He asked, she blinked, giving it a much thought,
"Fine, you look sad, so I'll give you shelter," She said, proud of her kind self. He hummed and nodded, "Thanks, senorita," He said, she hummed, "But you'll have to wait, I'll first finish my duties."
He nodded again, "Of course, till then, I'll sit here and watch you," He said, she nodded, but before going, he gripped her hand again, "Where did you get that necklace?" He asked, noticing the red necklace she wore.
"My late mother gave it to me," She replied without much thought.
Hoseok knew what it meant, he thought he did, but decided not to speak about it, "Anyway, go and finish your duties." He smiled, bringing her hand to his mouth, but she resisted instantly,
"It's fine, totally, don't kiss my hand, I understand your gratitude." He titled his head, nodding anyway.
He watched as she walked away from him, feeling like a huge burden was off of him, he had kept these things he said to himself for one month, letting it out gave him a little relief.
