♡ Otegine x Reader | You're Special

Requested by the fabulous DANE-sempai

Sorry for the extremely late update. I still have summer work that I have to do for next school year. ;U; However, I shall do my best in updating this book. This time, I'm gonna start publishing more frequently on this book.

I had a lot of trouble thinking of what to write for Otegine, mainly because all he mentions in his bio is stabbing... What. So I apologize for any OOC statements that I may write. ^^"

As a saniwa, you were very practical when it comes to choosing things. You weren't seeking beauty in a sword, but how strong it is and how it fits to your tastes. Otegine was that sword. He was not really the prettiest sword out of all, but you somehow sparked great interest on him, which was the start of a whole new chapter of your saniwa story.

"Eh, I only have to lead the procession and that'll be okay?" Otegine asked when you chose him to be the leader of your team. "You know, maybe you should just choose someone else to be the leader, aruji."

"Nope," you replied. "I have no other intent of picking some other sword because I think that I work best with you." You began to walk away to avoid any more complaining.

He sighed. The yari ran up in front of you, then bowed. "Thank you very much. I look forward to working with you, aruji!" He smiled.

All of a sudden, your cheeks started to redden mysteriously. You touched your face to feel the heat.

"What's wrong, aruji? Are you not feeling well?" He concernedly went closer to you to touch your forehead.

You flinched as his touch. When you realized that his face was only a matter of centimeters away from your face, you accidentally slapped his hand away. "S-Sorry, Otegine..! I... I have to go now!" You trailed off to your room, slamming the door shut. You sighed and slowly sunk to the floor. You took deep breaths while trying to comprehend the short series of events. After long moments of thinking and understanding the situation, you finally came to a possible conclusion.

"Am I... in love with Otegine?"

You stood up and went out of your room. You travelled around the citadel to find Otegine so that you can apologize. When you found him, he was in a state of deep thought. He was holding this very unfamiliar facial expression that you have never seen before. The sound of the creaking wooden floor upon taking a step caused him to notice your presence. The sword stood up and bowed. "I am sorry for earlier, aruji!"

"No, no. I should be the one apologizing... I was too flustered during that time that I wasn't able to think well."

"Eh? Aruji is flustered? Why?"

Heat rose once again to your cheeks. "I-I can't tell you!"

He sighed in defeat. "If that is what aruji wishes..."

Days rocketed by, and matters had been really awkward between you and Otegine. You say little to no words to him when you do sorties. Even in the citadel, you chose to have some space between yourselves. This made you very upset, mainly because you still hold feelings for this sword. One night, you brought your main team of swords with you to do a quick sortie. After easy levels of defeating your enemies with one blow, you came across a very suspicious and different enemy. That man did not choose to fight, surprisingly, and instead wanted to do a trade.

He was eyeing at your swords from head to toe. "Say, I got a really strong sword that I can trade with you. His name is Juzumaru Tsunetsugu."

You gasped at his offer. "Juzumaru Tsunetsugu?! You have him, and you're willing to trade such a great sword?!"

"Yes," he smirked. "I'm only interested in one of your swords." The man pointed at Otegine. "That one."

Your eyes grew in shock. "Woah, woah. Are you serious?"

He nodded. Otegine was also shocked, too. The only reaction he had was that he smiled at you, but under that smile he was totally broken up inside. "Well, I'm not really a great sword anyways. I-I don't mind being traded--"

"No," you firmly said. "I am not and will never replace Otegine with any other sword. Good night, sir." You slayed him in an instant with one of your swords. "Ugh, I'm done with this sortie."

Later on at the cold evening, you sat down at the steps outside the citadel. You wanted to rethink about your love for that special yari that you always held deep in your heart. Minutes later, you felt a jacket drape over your shoulders. You looked up and it was Otegine. You blushed and looked away, asking, "Why are you still up at this time?"

"Same question goes to you, too," he replied, sitting down beside you. "About that incident earlier... I want to thank you. You really are different from the other saniwas, (Y/N)-aruji. To think that someone would pick a sword that has nothing special over a sword that has everything that's special."

"You are special, Otegine!" You exclaimed. "You may not look like it, but you actually are. You're a really big sword, and you're even kind and caring, and because of this my heart just goes all crazy just thinking about you."

The yari's cheeks brightened red. "A-Aruji... Am I the reason why you get flustered?" He said it in a really soft voice that you could've almost missed it.

You looked down. "Yeah... I'm in love with you, Otegine." The words naturally escaped from your lips.

You were instantly brought into a hug by him. "Those were the words that I've been longing to hear from my aruji," he whispered. "I love you too, aruji."
