Alexandra P.O.V.

I'm running in these rubber boots holding onto the raincoat's hat. Of course, the day that I'm off it decides to rain especially when I'm just now going to the library to buy more books for my bookshelf. Or more like to feel satisfied by spoiling myself.

I walk in the Barnes and Nobles and avoid looking at anyone. I feel embarrassed knowing that each one of them were waiting at the window and watched me struggle to get over here. Nonetheless, I shake my head and go to my nonfiction aisle.

I saw the Shatter Me book series and grabbed the second book. I walked away but I changed my mind and decided to grab the whole series because that's how good it is. I saw this girl behind me smiled at me and chuckled.  I nicely smiled back and went to another aisle. 

" Need any help with anyone miss?" I hear a voice behind me. I slightly jumped surprised because I recognized the voice. That voice that over these 4 years wondered whether I could hear again just to make sure he was alive.

Daniel Cooper.

My long-last crush who had disappeared after high school was standing right behind me.

Flashbacks from that night reappeared. Where we all were hanging out at the park and me and him were sitting alone talking to each other. Where I had almost-almost confessed my love to him. But was interrupted by a phone call that had left me wondering who they were and why he was such in a hurry afterwards to leave. After that phone call nothing was the same, he left and never heard about him till now.

" Daniel-wh-what are you doing here?" For some reason I lost my voice. I was speechless because now that I've seen him again, he looks different. He looks more built, more taken care of, and maybe taller? Or maybe I just got shorter with his presence.

" Alexa?" He looks at me surprised and looked at me from head to toe. He smiles.

" I can't believe it; been a while I see you. I work here now, started like 1 week ago. I've decided to move back to town since my parent's decided too." He smiles.

" Aww they still together?" I smiled.

He frowns.

" Yea why wouldn't they. They love each other so much" He voice sounded off. 

" I- that's great. I'm glad you guys are settling back in" I forced a smile.

" What are you doing this week? I finally have someone to hang out with. Calling Angie or John is not the same as being able to see each other" he says.

" Oh, you still talk to Angie and them?" I asked feeling jealous. Not because they are dating but because he could have been in touch with me these past years.

" Yea she's like a sister to me, she plans on coming down soon to live here, something about her job requires her too. For a second, I thought the whole gang was getting back together" he chuckles and shakes his head.

" Wouldn't blame you, but you're the one who left all of us.  The rest of the group lives here, Samantha, Derek, and Jacob. But I guess they aren't your favorites like Angie and them huh" I muttered.

" I'm sorry" He looks at the floor.

" Your good, everyone has their pick of friends. I understand if you didn't like me as much as the rest. " I told him.

" Alexa it's not like that" he tells me.

" Daniel it's okay I'm not mad. Just glad you're alive" I elbowed him trying to relieve some of the tension.

" So, any plans this week" He claps his hand.

" I- yes, I already have plans with my sister" I lied.

" Oh, I thought she left the house already with her boyfriend" he tells me.

What? How does he know that?

" I follow her on Instagram, she had posted pictures about the baby shower" He scratches the back of his neck.

" Yea well that doesn't mean she can't go out and spend time with her sister and her mother." I defended myself.

" That's fine just let me know when" He pats my back and walks away.

" I still have your number so hit me whenever you can" He goes back to work.

I frown.

He has my number.

All this time he had my number and didn't once reply or called after multiple times I tried to check up on him.

I can't believe how close we were, and he would do that to me. 

Can't help but smile though because he's back and staying meaning that once that was lost could be together again. Though I have a feeling this time it will be tougher because Daniel doesn't know that I'm not the same girl from the past. 

He doesn't know that I have certain amount of time left to capture his heart.
