As soon as I walked into the school, my girlfriend, Isabelle, sashayed over. We had been dating for a year and today was our anniversary. Isabelle was a beautiful fourteen year-old girl with long black hair and big blue eyes that just grabbed your attention. "Hey Oliver..." she said giving me a sort of sad smile. "I'm breaking up with you." 

 I felt my heart break. "Y-You are?" I mustered out. She nodded. "It just wasn't working for me, you're a sweet boy though!" she said patting my cheek gently then walking off. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Mason leaning against a locker watching what had just happened, his eyes a brighter green than usual and a creepy look on his face.

 He then walked over to me, acting like he didn't know. "Hey dude, you alright? You look pretty bummed out." he said giving me a concerned look. "Y-Yeah, I'm fine..." I said, faking a smile. "I'm going to go ahead on to class, I'll see you later." And with that, I walked sadly to class.

 "Good morning class," my teacher, Mrs. Evans said, walking into the classroom. "I know there are only three more days of school, but there's always time for math!" The class groaned but Mrs. Evans didn't notice, because she had already started writing problems on the board. I was still too upset and distracted to focus on whatever she was going over. Did she really just lose interest in me? Was there another reason?

 My thoughts were interrupted when I heard Mrs. Evans repeating my name. I looked up at her quickly. "Yes ma'am?" I said immediately. "Will you please solve the problem on the board?" I panicked. I hadn't been paying attention to what she was talking about. I stared at the problem. Factor the algebraic expression (x - 1)2 - (y - 2)2.

Okay, more panicking. I felt everyone's eyes on me. "U-Uhm, 39!" I blurted out randomly. The class erupted in laughter while Mrs. Evans just stared at me. "Actually, the answer is y = - 4x - 4" Mrs Evans corrected still staring staring at me. I felt my cheeks heat up. "O-Oh." I said quietly. Could this day be any worse?
