(Note: This is a backstory in Caspian's pov)

Great grandfather Léo was sitting in a den when I came. "Grandfather?" I whispered, not to scare him. "Huh... HUH?!" He got up startled. Not wanting any more trouble then I already had, I reacted quickly. "Woah grandfather, it's just me, Caspian, calm down." I said in a soothing voice.

"Eh..?" He looked up at me, relief flowing through him. Ever since his wife's recent death, he had been shaky and jerky, never at peace. He adjusted his square metal glasses and squinted his old fragile eyes. "Ah, my dear grandson Caspian, what brings you here?" He said a bit accusingly. I couldn't blame him though so I just replied. "You told me to come to you about 3 days ago, yes?" He looked as if he was thinking back when he mumbled in a low voice: "Yes, I believe so."

"So... What did you need me for?" I asked him. He tapped his wrinkled chin thinking. "Ah yes! I need to give you my most prized possession." He grabbed a small wooden chest from behind him and handed it to me. "Open it!" I stared down at it, but did as I was told. Confusion bubbled up inside me as I stared down at what I thought was a stopwatch? I stood there dumbfounded.

After 3 whole days of waiting, his most prized possession was a watch? I opened my mouth to question him then shut it. There are too many things to ask him and not enough time. I look down at him and catch him staring at me. Something was behind his eyes but I couldn't quite catch it. "Ah, not what you expected eh?" All I could do was nod my head.

"This is no ordinary watch you see, it can make you skip ahead of time or go back in the past. Like time travel, is it not?" I always felt like he left me with a question so I answered with a brief "Yes". I began again, "Why, how?" "You are my only grandson left my boy, I...I want you to use it well...." He stopped cold and slumped down. We all knew his end was near, but just now? As I wanted to know all the details of what he has given me? I felt my knees go weak as I dropped to the floor. "Grandfather!!"
