Chapter Twenty.
If it works the photo is your last look at Raphael, for this book anyway.
Sky was walking through the parking lot at the club the next morning when Raphael exited the building heading towards his bike and casting Sky a dirty look.
"Where the hell are you going?" Sky asked.
"I'm going to see Jenny."
"She's fine, you don't need to go anywhere near her."
"I'm going to do a lot more than that," Raphael said, shoving Sky aside.
"What the hell does that mean!?" Sky demanded.
"When she wakes up I'm asking her to leave with me, you're in way over your damned head and there's no reason for her to suffer."
"You're not taking her anywhere," Sky threatened shoving Raphael.
"I think you've done enough damage, don't you? Let her go."
"No, never. I won't let you take her from me."
Raphael laughed and then shoved Sky, nearly knocking him off his feet. When Sky stood he swung a punch that Raphael barely dodged.
"I will take her and I'll see to it she's taken care of!" Raphael yelled.
"That's not your place!"
"I love her!" Raphael yelled, leaning into Sky's personal space.
"So do I!" Sky yelled back.
"Woah, woah guys," Wolf rushed across the parking lot, pushing the two men apart.
"You can't have her!" Sky yelled as Zeke wrestled him away from Raphael.
"Okay, okay, let's knock off the pissing contest for now." Wolf said.
"I won't let you!" Sky threatened, Zeke barely able to hold him back and Demon forced to help.
Ty rushed to grip Raphael's arm.
"Let it go!" Wolf ordered.
Raphael shrugged Ty off of him and pushed a hand through his hair glaring openly at Sky. Had it not been for Zeke and Demon gripping his upper arms Sky would have slapped him.
"You don't deserve her," Raphael said.
Sky lunged at him again but his friends held him back, Wolf giving Raphael a small shove in the opposite direction.
"Walk away Raph," Wolf warned.
Raphael glanced at Wolf, seeming to debate rather or not he would listen then he turned and stalked to his bike. Swinging on to the Harley he pulled on his helmet, he glance back at Sky before starting the bike and roaring down the street.
Demon and Zeke let go of Sky and he roughly shoved away from them.
"Look, Sky. I know you're hurt and confused but you need to calm down."
"No, I need to do something I need to.....I have to do something now about Lou."
"You need to eat, take a shower and get some rest. You're not going to be any good to Jenny when she wakes up and you're in this condition."
"I'm no good for Jenny anyway! You heard Raphael!"
"He's upset, that's all."
"Go inside and have something to eat and get some rest," Demon said.
With a heavy sigh Sky obliged the older men and headed inside, he stopped by the bar where Morgan stood waiting with a large burger and fries. She handed him the plate with a sad smile as he took up a seat at the bar.
"How's Jenny?"
"When I left she was still sleeping."
"We're all thinking about her and as soon as she's up to it we're going to go over."
"I bet she'd like that, Raphael is over there now."
"Really? And....you're okay with that?"
"No, but there's nothing I can do about it."
"Well, at least you know she's safe. Raph would never let anyone hurt her. Eat up and get some rest, okay?"
He gave a small nod, turning his attention to his food. Morgan gave him a small pat on the shoulder before walking away and leaving him alone. He finished his dinner and then moved to his room, collapsing face first onto his unmade bed. The sheets still smelled like her, the blankets still wrinkled from where she had slid from them that morning. It wasn't long before he fell into a deep sleep.

He woke up a few hours later, his head was killing him and his lungs were burning. Reaching blindly into his pockets he found the inhaler that was given to him and took a long inhale before tossing it aside. He collapsed back against his mattress, taking a few deep, painful breaths.
Pushing up into the sitting position in the middle of the bed he pulled his cell phone off his bedside table. He stared at it for a long minute before decided what he needed to do, he had to get rid of Lou.
I have your money, just call off the dogs.
He send the text before he could second guess himself then he waited. It wasn't long before Lou answered him.
Where can we meet?
Debating the best place for his plan Sky sent Lou an address for an abandoned warehouse down by the docks. He knew that not only would the loan shark show but two of his best goons would be with him.
Sky slid from his bed, shoving his gun into the holster on his side. He headed for the door, glancing around the lounge area as he exited the building and seeing nobody. He climbed onto his bike and drove to the designated spot.
He didn't have to wait long at the docks before Lou and two of his henchman showed. While he knew Lou wasn't armed he was aware that the two men with him were.
"Sky my boy, I was worried you burned up like your pretty little sister."
"I've had enough Lou, call off your dogs."
"Where's my money Sky?"
Sky stood a few yards away, he could pull out his gun and fire. He was pretty positive he could hit Lou from where he stood but the other two would definitely kill him. He hesitated, he might not get another shot.
Making up his mind he went for his gun, brandishing it and firing three shots. Each shot hit the mark, one tearing through Lou's chest, the other two his stomach. He hit the docks and the other men drew their weapons and began to fire. Sky dove behind a large crate, he was pinned down with nowhere to go but as long as he kept them busty they couldn't help Lou and the longer Loud went without help the better the odds were of him bleeding to death.
Leaning around the right side of the large crate he fired twice at one of the men, missing hopelessly. He saw Lou laying face down a few yards away between the two men. The one he was firing at turned and together they began shooting directly at him, one bullet clipping his right arm.
He collapsed back onto the concrete, gun falling from his hands as his left hand gripped his upper right arm. Blood slid thick and hot between his fingers, his arm burning.
"Shit."
He heard the footsteps as the two men rushed where he lay, one round the crate near his feet the other at his head. He reached out with his left hand for his gun but the one near his head kicked it away and into the cold river.
"Are you stupid? Did you really think you could pull this off?" The one at his feet asked, gun aimed at Sky's head.
"Just shut up and do it," Sky shot back.
The man at his feet snickered before steadying his aim and slightly lowering the gun at Sky's face. A shot rang out, splitting the night and Sky jumped, the spray of warm, sticky blood covering his face and body. The man at his feet dropped to the dock, dead.
"What the hell!?" The man at his head turned away from Sky looking for the shooter.
A second shot rang out, the mans body being knocked back from the impact and falling into the water. Fast footsteps approached and Sky lifted his head just as Raphael rounded the corner of the crate.
"I knew you'd run off and do something stupid." Raphael scolded.
"Who the hell invited you?" Sky spat.
"You're welcome, Come on let's get you back to the compound and sewn up."
Reaching down Raphael pulled Sky to his feet, helping him back towards a waiting truck. Sky winced at the movement, his arm was on fire, pain shooting into his hand and shoulder. He wasn't bleeding too heavily which was good.
Raphael opened the door and Sky climbed inside, applying pressure to his arm at all times as Raphael backed the truck onto the road.
"You holding up okay?" Raphael asked when the truck bounced.
"It's not my first gunshot wound, I'll be fine."
"I went to see Jenny, she's still out of it but she came too for a few seconds. Do you know what her first word was?" Raphael asked.
"I don't know," Sky said with a sigh, not interested in a word Raphael had to say.
"It was your name."
Sky let his head fall back against the head rest, relief flooding through every vein in his body. She must have forgiven him and knowing that she was just as concerned about him as he was her made him feel a little better.
"She's in love with you, you lucky bastard. Don't you think it's time you stop stringing her along?" Raphael asked.
"I never strung her along, she's my step-sister. It complicates things."
"Only because you let it."
"Whatever, you don't know me, you don't know Jenny. Maybe you should just shut up and drive."
Raphael shook his head but thankfully fell silent for now, they drove in a comfortable but slighlt tense silence for a few miles before Sky spoke.
"Thank you, for saving my life." He said a bit bitter sounding.
"I didn't do it for you, I did it for her."
