Chapter Four.
If the photo works it's of Morgan.
"Sky......Sky....Hey, come on get up."
The voice sounded far away at first and he had to focus to bring it closer, then he realized it was Jenny calling to him. Hie eyes felt like sand paper and his mouth was dry, the pounding in his head was nearly deafening and as he pushed up into a sitting position his stomach turned.
"Wow, you look rough," She said
"You don't look so hot either," he pointed out.
Jenny's skin was a scary color of white, her hair a mess that tumbled off her shoulders, dark black rings were beneath her bloodshot eyes and he'd bet any money she'd thrown up this morning.
"We should eat breakfast, that will help."
"Yeah, breakfast sounds good." He agreed.
He stood and followed her into the kitchen, she'd changed since last night and was now wearing black leggins with an oversized gray sweatshirt that he was pretty sure was his over top.
He moved unsteadily to the bar stool near the counter that divided her dining room and kitchen, settling on it and resting his head against his arm to hold it up.
"Do you have...some aspirin or something?"
"Yeah, hang on."
She turned and dug around in her cabinets until she found a bottle then set it on the counter next to a large glass of orange juice that he wasn't sure he could finish.
"Look.....Jenny...."
"Do you want scrambled eggs?" She interrupted.
"Yeah...that's fine."
He watched her bustle around getting things ready but he couldn't concentrate. They had to talk about last night, about what happened. He couldn't just ignore the fact that he'd made out with his step sister in her hallway, he would have done more if his buzz hadn't edged off when it did.
"Jenny....we have to talk about what happened last night."
"Honestly I was so drunk I don't remember a thing," She said with a shrug.
He watched her, she sounded sincere in her words but the way her hand shook when she reached for a bowl said other wise.
"Jen...."
"....I don't remember Sky....any of it....not a single thing and maybe...it's better that way." She said turning to face him.
He stared at her for a minute, she was giving him an easy out and they both knew it. What happened didn't need to be brought up. If they just pretended that neither remembered it they could go back to the way things were, the way they should be.
"Yeah....I don't remember anything either." He said with a fake laugh.
"Okay....so let's just....move on." She said with a sigh.
"Okay."
She forced a smile then turned back to the breakfast she was making and he fell silent. He didn't want Jenny, she was his sister he wasn't supposed to want her but he couldn't deny that he did. When they were younger there had been brief times when he'd feel a stirring in his stomach that resembled want, but she was so innocent, so sweet, so fun, so full of life. He couldn't take that from her, so he'd lose himself in the body of a stranger and squash it down. Now, it had been unleashed if only for a few moments and pushing it back was next to impossible.
"What are your plans for the day?" She asked, setting a plate in front of him.
"I don't know," He admitted.
"I'm meeting the girls for lunch."
"Oh, right your every other week luncheon."
"Right," She said with a smile.
"If you drop me off at my bike, I'd appreciate it."
"Of course," she said, sliding onto the stool across from him and taking a bite of eggs from her plate. He gave her a smile of thanks and began to pick apart his own breakfast.
Jenny was the last one to arrive at the swanky Italian restaurant she and the girls frequented. Lacy, Morgan, Becky and Laurel were already seated. Although Laurel was the only one for them not linked to the Animals MC, she was always a welcome body to their luncheons.
"You're late," Lacy said glancing over her menu.
"Sorry I had to drop Sky off at the bar."
Jenny slid into her seat between Morgan and Becky, Lacy immediately to Morgans left and Laurel on Lacy's other side at the round table.
"We ordered wine," Laurel said.
"Great!" Jenny said enthusiastically.
"I'll pass," Morgan said.
"What since when?" Laurel questioned pouring herself and Jenny a large glass.
"I'm trying to cut back."
"None for me either," Becky said.
"Same," Lacy chimed in.
"Okay....guess it's just me and you Jennifer." Laurel said lifting her glass.
Jenny lifted hers in toast and then downed the contents, setting the empty glass on the table she was aware of all her friends starting.
"What?" She asked.
"Spill it, what's going on?" Becky asked.
"I....I...uh...I..kissed Sky," She admitted.
"Define kissed," This from Lacy.
"Uh.....made out...almost went to....second base I think...I don't know I never could keep the bases straight. Can I have more wine please?" She handed Laurel her glass aware she was rambling.
"Wait...you made out...when?" Morgan asked.
"uhm, last night."
"Did you....did you two have sex?" Laurel asked.
"No...."
"But you wanted too?" Becky questioned.
"He stopped it before it went too far."
"He stopped it, not you? You were going to..keep going?"Morgan asked.
"I don't fucking know! He's my brother, I love him but last night we were drunk and I just.....damn he's such a good kisser and...I just..."She trailed off drinking more wine.
"So, you think it will happen again?" Becky asked taking a long drink of her water.
"No...no, absolutely not. We agreed not to talk about it or anything."
"So, what's the plan?" Lacy asked.
"The plan is to sit here and get drunk until....I can't feel his hands on me anymore, until I can't taste him and until I don't....want him anymore."
"Speaking completely from experience....good luck with that," Becky said.
"I'll join you," Laurel said leaning forward to grab the wine bottle and pour herself some.
"Let's just talk about something else," Jenny said, shaking her head.
"Okay, good idea. How's Ivan?" Morgan asked, turning to Laurel.
"He's.....hurting and I don't know how to help him anymore."
"He lost his best friend, it's going to take time." Becky pointed out.
"I know but...he's in a dark place. He won't return my calls, he won't let me in his apartment, he....he's shutting me out more than he did when we divorced."
"Why did you divorce? You guys seem to get along so well now." Lacy said.
"It was.....there.....there was a lot of baggage and scars......mostly mine."
"Did you cheat?" Lacy guessed.
"I was raped.....several times...in our home while Ivan was out and he just...he didn't see me after that. Whenever he looked at me....he just saw what they'd done. We stopped having sex, stopped kissing, stopped touching.....we just stopped loving each other," Laurel said with a shrug.
"Well, here's to the men we love and....the men we used to." Morgan said, lifting her water in a toast effectively lightening the mood.
"Here here," Becky chimed in.
Jenny smiled as she toasted with her friends and their waiter came to take their order, a part of her mind still on Sky and the night before.
