...
He felt his heart sink into his chest at the sudden moment of her words.
"I'm so sorry." She murmured, holding both his hands in her small delicate hands.
Shawn couldn't bare to look at her, the sight of her soft face would break his heart even more. He couldn't believe that such a sweet innocent girl could have such power over his heart. His trust in her was beginning to fade, with each second that past he slowly broke his hands away from her, her fingers lingering on the tip of his hands.
"You see...darling." She slurred.
"Don't call me that!" Shawn snapped at her.
Her jaw dropped at his reaction as her eyes remained on his talk figure that lured over her. An ill feeling came over her, beginning with a rough tightness of her chest.
"Sorry." She said, fixing her eyes onto the yard outside.
"I just wanted to fall in love with you." He said.
"And you did Shawn. You fell madly and deeply in love with me." She replied.
"But I'm not the one for you." She added, running her hand through her hair.
"What do you mean I'm not the one for you? We have everything anyone could of possibly wanted!" He yelled, distress filling his words.
She fell silent amongst the underlining feeling of guilt. He was right. What they shared together was something immeasurable. Something that could last a life time.
"Shawn."
"Yes."
"It's forbidden love."
His gaze broke from her figure, his attention now had landed on the desk beneath him. The support of the wooden desk caused him to feel a sense of security, its sturdy physique somehow held him up.
"It's only forbidden love in the mind of a distorted thinker." Shawn stated, his hands clenching around the rim of the desk.
Her golden locks reached just past her shoulders, its shiny finish caught his eye as the school yard laid before them.
"You don't understand."
"Darling I do." He muttered, stroking her cheek gently with the edge of his thumb.
"Do you even realise how much your teaching career is on the line?" She said.
"Of course I do. I think about it everyday, I live in constant fear but I'm willing to feel fear than to never be with you."
"But that's such a big ask! This is your career I'm talking about Shawn."
"Love is love." He whispered to himself, although loud enough for her to hear.
"If only the world could see that." She spoke softly, a tear falling from her eye.
Her eyes had begun to fill with tears, the pain she felt was begging to leave. Her hands covered her eyes as she leant into her arms. Her whimpers turning into muffles.
"Baby, don't cry." Shawn said, pulling her close to him.
Her head fell onto his chest, his heart beat soared with each second that passed. He too was scared of what was to occur next, for he was only a man with a tender heart full of love that he was forbidden to use.
"Shawn, at the end of the day we have each other."
Faint voices of the school hall filled the lonesome silence that hung in the air.
"And that's all that matters." He added, smiling to himself.
"So what do we do now?" She asked, turning her head to face him.
"We run, until they can't catch us."
... to be continued
