past love - 1
~ this chapter is going to be part of a series of a small story xx
...
Shawn eyes trailed around the corners of the restaurants roof before returning his gaze back to his family that surrounded him at the table.
"Shawn?" A faint voice spoke, returning himself back to reality.
"I'm sorry." He genuinely smiled, continuing to eat his meal.
A sense of approval drew across Shawn's fathers face as he continued to eat his meal although, Shawn failed to feel hungry at all, taking small sips from his champagne glass that hung loosely in his hand. Anything to occupy him would be a pleasant surprise.
"Are you not going to eat?" Manny questioned Shawn, placing his cutlery on the side of his dish, staring disappointingly at Shawn.
Shawn swallowed hard, awkwardness filling the air as each moment passed.
"Oh I am, just letting it go down." He replied.
Aaliyah placed her hand on Shawn's shoulder before her sweet voice spoke.
"Everything alright Shawn?" She asked, turning her face toward him.
Shawn turned to face her, her soft brown eyes staring back at him.
"I'm fine, thanks." He reassured, smiling at her.
Silence filled the air, only the sharp sounds of the cutlery hitting the dinner plates broke the silence. The sun had already disappeared, darkness replacing the light. Faint white dots were seen spread across the night sky as the moon sat in the corner of the picture.
a real life picture
Shawn thought to himself, continuing to gaze into the sky, observing every star that filled the night. His eyes trailed down toward the street, the cars flying past one by one before the outline of a familiar figure lured behind Manny's head, peaking behind him ever so slightly. Shawn shuffled in his seat as he began to peak over his father's shoulder. Disbelief took Shawn's breath away as he recognised his past girlfriend, Casey.
A rush of heat ran to his face as he held the edge of the table, pushing himself away. Excitement flooded his thoughts, his breaths short and sharp ready to take him away.
"Excuse me!" His fathers angry voice yelled aloud, anger filling his tone.
Shawn didn't have a care in the world, it had been forever since he had seen her delicate face, let alone to hear her sweet voice again.
"Casey!" Shawn yelled, his right arm waving in the air in hopes to cast her attention.
The cold night air hit his face as he saw her head turn around, her blonde curls moving with the motion of her head. Her clear blue eyes stared back at him, oh those eyes he knew all too well were once again with him.
Shawn walked over to her, not a blink of his eye broke his focus on her. Casey, was all he wanted in this moment, he needed to be with her. The proximity between them was beyond short, it almost felt natural for them both being so close to each other, she felt his warm breaths on her face as they stood facing each other in the midst of the night.
"Shawn?" She spoke, her tone filled with the upmost confusion.
"Casey." He muttered, his breaths turning cold with the night air.
The past tension that had been between them was somehow distant. However the many memories they shared together came back to them, crawling back into both of their minds. A sudden flashback hit Shawn's mind, the exact moment he had let her go had returned.
"What are you doing here?" She questioned followed by the raise of her right eyebrow.
Shawn began to ask himself that exact same question, what was he doing here?
"I'm sorry, I just." He apologised, his hazel eyes saddening with each word that he spoke.
Shawn followed her every move, sensing any sign of discomfort from her part. He must've appeared like an idiot, analysing her every movement. His gaze focused solely on her presence, not a single sign of the outside world distracted him. A faint chuckle was heard from Casey, calming Shawn by the slightest.
"Shawn, what can I do for you?" She asked, crossing her arms playfully before she reached out to touch his hands, holding them gently.
The memories flooded back, that same lingering touch that she used to give Shawn excited him, her blue eyes interlocked with Shawn, sending a speck of shock down his spine. Who knows how long they stood there, each of them gazing into the past of their old love.
"Casey, I know how things between us ended..."
badly
"Badly." She finished his words, then smiled.
Her hands still lingered over his, the warmth from her hands tickled his skin. Casey peered down, reviewing the scene of their hands interlocked together. Surprisingly she backed away still holding his hands as she maintained eye contact with him.
"Where are you heading?" Shawn asked, curiously.
"I'm uh, heading back to my apartment." She replied, pointing to where her apartment was with her finger.
"Oh, of course." Shawn remarked.
Her hands removed themselves from his touch, as she began to press her finger against her left temple in discomfort.
"We must catch up, its been forever." Shawn stated, eagerly awaiting her response.
Her face remained blank, although her eyes were telling a different story. They spoke adventure and excitement.
"Shawn..."
"Casey..."
"Let's just go." She stated, walking away from him beckoning him to follow.
...
Her figure was striking, her signature hourglass figure never failed to impress Shawn. His mouth dropped in awe as he reminded himself of how crazy this was for him to be back with her... the girl he let go of.
He tried to erase the past memory of the very moment he said goodbye, the moment he looked into her sweet innocent eyes as the moon hung behind her, witnessing their encounter. He remembered exactly how he felt in that moment.
powerless
But that wouldn't affect him today, not now, not ever. He was here, again, with Casey. His long lost love.
Her back continued to be faced at him, her striking figure exciting Shawn.
"Mendes, can't you catch up?"
The skip of his heart and the kick of his heel caused him to throw himself at her,
