I'm supposed to be editing my socials project, but here we are.
I apologize in advance.

as the door slammed, we could hear footsteps slowly getting quieter before completely disappearing. A sob echoed through the room, and I looked in surprise at Lauren, who was trying to stifle her crying. "hey, we're going to be fine." I said softly, trying to comfort the slightly older witch. As if my words wanted to spite me, a scream rang through the dungeon. we all froze at the unfamiliar screams of the time witch. Lauren only shook her head and cried more.
"um, well that was not good timing." I joked, trying to lighten the mood. no one responded. it was just quiet, with the occasional sobs from lauren. after a while, I heard a groan coming from Pris's cell. I looked and saw her sitting up, rubbing her head. "Pris! you're awake!" Eloise called, scrambling to go look. "what in the supreme happened?" Pris croaked, standing and wobbling over to the bed. "do you want the short version or the full story?" I sighed. "short please, my head already hurts, I don't need more confusion." "Basically, Scott made a deal with a demon. why, we don't really know. they were extremely vague. said demon took over Scott's body and trapped us in here, and now they're trying to win the last trial, become the supreme witch, and kill us all." Joey said nonchalantly like it was an average Tuesday morning.
"wow, that's... wow." "yeah, it's weird." "where's Cleo?" pris asked. no one spoke for a second before Tiff spoke up. "they... the demon took them. we don't know where, but we heard her scream." Pris's face paled. I knew they never had the best relationship, but they were getting along well lately.
the door burst open, and in came Xornoth, dragging Cleo behind him. they were barely conscious and were covered in cuts and gashes. blood was matted in her hair, and their hands were covered in blood. the demon opened her cell and threw them on the bed before closing it and turning to face the rest of us. "well, I'm off to win the trial. you have a day to say your goodbyes to each other. goodbye." and with that they left, slamming the door behind them.
Cleo stirred, grumbling and sitting up slowly. "Cleo! Are you okay?" Lauren asked, nervous. Cleo just nodded, wincing. "what happened?" "I don't want to talk about it." I exchanged a worried glance with pris. what could possibly make Cleo, the second most powerful witch here, look like that?
"Does anyone have an idea on how to get out of here?" Pris asked, a nervous look on her face. "if we did, we would be out by now." Joey snapped, looking at the ceiling. "she was just asking Joey." Lauren said sternly. "shut up Lauren." "no. if Pris hadn't taken that stupid book and shown it to us, we wouldn't be here. you were the one to suggest confronting him, so this is your fault as much as hers." "you heard what they said." he stood, looking at the sand witch. "you caused this as much as I did. you apparently left him. it's your fault as much as mine." Lauren opened her mouth to snap back, but was cut off by Tiff. "will you two shut up?" she shouted, glaring at the two witches. tiff never yelled. "it's all of our faults, ok? now can we figure a way out of here, before that demon comes back and kills us all?" no one spoke. She sighed. "thank you."
I looked around my cell. the walls were too strong to break by hand, and none of us had any gear. the floors were the same. the table was just basic dark oak, and the bed was made of the same wood, with a thin pillow and blue sheets. unless we had some miracle out of a fanfiction, we were screwed. might as well try.
"Everyone check around your cells, there might be something we can use." I said, lifting the mattress to check underneath. "this is pointless. do you think they left a pickaxe lying around for us to use?" Joey complained. "do you want to get out or not?" silence. "exactly. look around, check everywhere." as I searched, I could hear the rummaging of the other witches, checking under the bed, under the table, and on the roof. why Eloise would check there is beyond me.
I stepped back from the small table, defeated. nothing. I turned to face the room. "anyone finds anything?" I called. I got back similar calls of, "Not yet," and "no." at this point we should just give up-
"uh, guys? I found something."
