SEVEN
"Namjoon help me out here." Ivy mumbles from beside him on his couch as he hums catching popcorn with his mouth.
"I think I should ask out Hoseok. It's been more than a month, we've been only friends."
At this, he stops catching popcorn resulting in them falling on the ground and his face falls completely but as dumb as it sounds, she didn't notice. At all.
"Oh. Yeah, you should, I think he likes you too." He mumbles, sitting back on the couch with legs crossed. She nods to herself feet dangling off the couch as she stares at the movie playing in front of them. None of them were actually paying attention, it was just a filler for the silence they enjoyed together after the exhausting day at work.
The two had decided that they were gonna hang out at Namjoon's place on weekends since it a bit far from their workplace and week days at Ivy's place. It was quite a strange feeling for both of them to feel this comfortable around someone. It had been a while after all.
"What do you say? I tell him that I like him or do I ask him on a date or something?" She stretches out her body follwed by the question and shifts on the couch, closer to Namjoon feeling chilly but not touching.
"Go on a date and check if you really like him or if he's just cute." He says rolling his eyes.
"Your gay is showing," she comments grabbing a handful of popcorn from his bowl.
"Shut up, I'm definitely not attracted to him. He's not even good-looking," he mutters jealousy taking over his actions clearly.
"Excuse me! Speak for yourself only big guy," she warns pointing a threatening finger towards him but he just sticks his tongue out to her.
"Be honest, how old are you?" She asks chuckling while shaking her head over his childish behaviour which wasn't that bizzare but she wasn't gonna tell him that.
"I'm only twenty five and nine months old," he states smiling cutely as his dimples pop out.
"You're cute," she says non-chalantly as she stops the movie to play a more interesting one. It's a sleepover after all.
"H-Huh?" he questions in surprise. 'What a guy y'all, gets embarrassed over a small compliment.' he thinks to himself groaning internally.
"I said you're c-" He presses a finger to her lips quickly shutting her up.
"I heard you the first time, just watch the movie now." He mutters looking away.
"Okay?" Her voice shows uncertainity but she listens to him anyway, sneakily moving closer so she's warm.
"Where are you guys gonna go?" he asks biting his lip out of habit. The sullen tone of the question alarms her and she whips her head to face him immediately.
"What's up with you?" She asks scooting even closer since he wasn't looking. He was always ignorant of her actions or she thought but he very much noticed how close they were getting as friends and also how close she was getting to him even after being wrapped into a fluffy blanket. He knew there was some backstory for her to be so distant but now that she was opening up, he was afraid too. He was afraid that he'd somehow end up feeling something he shouldn't and she might not. And the fact that she was gonna ask that Hoseok guy on a date was irking a feeling in him.
He knew it was wrong to be jealous over something which wasn't his. No, not that she wasn't his, that her heart, her time wasn't gonna be his. She was a real support to him, not just somebody he was attracted to. She couldn't be more obvious that she wanted to get closer so he helped her.
He grabbed her shoulders from outside the blanket and picked her body up settling between his legs. She bites down on her lip to prevent the wide smile, simply enjoying the fact that she was all warm now. Yeah, another blanket would've helped but did she really want that? She just wanted the warmth of another person, somebody she could trust.
"Are you still cold?" He mutters softly as his face appears in the crook of her neck not touching it but still there. She smiles slightly, turning her head to the other side before replying.
"No." He chuckles lightly nodding his head and humming along.
"Tell me something interesting." She says slowly relaxing in his arms but still no touching of their bodies. They were just really close.
"Okay, story time. One time I met this girl on a bus back from work. She was like really cute and was sitting right next to me. Then out of the blue she asks me, 'You look a lot like this author I know, Kim Namjoon', so I say 'oh really? do you like him too?' she shakes her head frowning and then says 'Not really but honestly he's really hot, like fuckable type of hot', I laughed at that and then pulled out my card and gave it to her. It had my number on it."
"Really? Then? Did she call?" Ivy asks turning around to face him and he nods holding her by the waist so she doesn't fall off the couch. She repeats the question again unknowingly sitting on his thighs with her thighs by the side of them.
"Yeah, she called later that night and then we met at a club or something where she introduced me to her other friends saying I was her boyfriend. I was scared, I mean what if she had turned out to be some psycho-stalker." He says, a very scared looks on his face.
"Then? Did you deny it or not?" She asks wrapping the blanket over her head and both their bodies so only her face was visible. He chuckled moving his hands outside and ruffling his hair.
"I did but like after cornering her. Turns out she only wanted to make her ex jealous."
"That's kinda cringey and typical." Ivy says not even noticing the position they were in. It was all just so comfortable for her that smaller and useless things like the fact that she already had a crush or that she hadn't been this close to a guy for such a long time were overlooked easily.
"Yeah. I just took off after that, I was really weird for me. But then, I bumped into another girl."
A/N: Okay so if you'd play 'in silence' by Jannet Suhh right now, it'll really hit different.
"And for sure you hooked up with her", as soon as he winces nodding, she throws her head back laughing but his eyes catch the way she was bent backwards, if she lost her balance slightly her head would end on the glass table and that shit hurts. Before he could warn her, she was already losing balance so he, as he had done a few times before, wrapped his arm around her waist pulling her up and used the other hand to cradle the back of her head. Just like a child being embraced.
"Oh my god, what if I wasn't here," he breaths out in concern.
"If you weren't here, I wouldn't have been laughing in the first place," She whispers slowly bringing her arms up to wrap them around his neck. He tightens his hold, pulling her even more close. She in turn locks her arms around his neck.
Just for once, wanting to feel comfort and love. Wanting to be loved and cared for, atleast once in her life. Just wanting to be embraced and told that it was okay not to be okay alone.
He feels his breath leave his body because of her being so close to him. Usually a guy would've interpreted it sexually, maybe even have a boner but right now she was feeding him emotionally. She was here, right in front of him, to hold and to comfort and have the same done to him. Just existing was enough for him, he didn't want more.
"I'm right here, you're gonna be okay," he whispers, one hand caressing her hair softly.
She feels tears flow slowly through her eyes, falling onto his sweater but he didn't mind.
He didn't mind because he was crying too.
Just the two of them, crying their lonesome hearts out, in silence, holding each other.
