Chapter 6

(Y/n) P.O.V

I was woken by an alarm blaring at 6:30. I got up and walked over to see Hiro already out of bed.

He seemed to be staring at my head. "Is something wrong?" I asked.

"Uh no... But you might wanna use this." He said, handing me a comb. I ran to the bathroom to see my hair sticking up everywhere.

I smiled to myself and fixed it up, handing Hiro the comb afterwards. "The Cafe isn't open today... I'll walk you home." Hiro offered.

"It's okay... Really, I don't live to far." I procrastinated.

"No I insist." He said, pulling his hoodie on and handing me my clothes from yesterday. I walked to the bathroom to change and quickly got dressed, handing Cass the clothes I wore the night before.

Hiro opened the Cafe door for me as I walked out. "I'm serious Hiro, I know how to look after myself." I said.

"Well... If you're sure." He said, going back inside the cafe. I walked across the street and turned into an alleyway.

I walked through the alleyway until I came to a small intersection. Just as I was about to turn right I froze. A sudden silence filled the air.

Like someone's breathing had stopped. I listened carefully before looking behind me.

When I saw the person behind me, I screamed in shock. "Hiro?! What are you doing here?!" I shouted.

"I was curious about where you lived." He replied.

"Yeah, but I don't fancy people stalking me!" I yelled.

"Okay! I was making sure you got home safe... Why are you here?" He asked.

"I'm on my way home... I go through the ally ways as a short cut." I lied.

"Huh... Well seeing as I'm here, can I walk you to your home?" He asked.

"No, you can go back." I said crossly.

"Are you hiding something?" He asked suspiciously.

"What?! No! Oh look fine!" I exclaimed, grabbing his hand and dragging him through the alleyways to my home.

"You live here?" Hiro asked in disbelief.

"I told you, it's a short cut." I lied once more.

"Okay I get it!." He defended.

"Alright, well you can go now, you walked me home... Half stalking me and now I'm almost there." I said.

"Yeah... I guess so... Bye (y/n)." Hiro said walking back the way we had came. I huffed in frustration and took the key for the front door out and unlocked the door.

I slipped in when the door was open just enough, incase Hiro was watching me and saw that the insides wasn't entirely welcoming.

I shut the door quickly and began pacing back and forth. I needed to stop talking to that kid. I'm getting to close that I might accidentally tell him my secret!

But I worked at the cafe, and he was there... I guess I could ignore him and not answer private questions... And if that doesn't work I'll have to quit my job... I guess stealing isn't to bad.

I went to sleep, worry filled until the next day. When I had arrived for work the next day, I started off by acting normal. Eventually as the day progressed, I ignored Hiro's comments on his "theory" of why I was acting funny.

He thought I was just being modest and didn't like bragging about my incredible wealth. Ha yeah right, I wish.

I continued to wipe the top of the counter as Hiro called out another random thing. This time, it caught my attention.

"So, are you going to apply for SFIT?" Hiro asked I froze and turned around to see him smiling.

"I don't know... I haven't thought about it." I replied.

"FINALLY! You haven't been talking all day! I began to think that you lost your voice or something... Take this." He said, handing me a little booklet.

"What is this?" I asked, flipping through the book to see pictures of cool robots and a bundle of words.

"The information guide of SFIT, thought you might like a copy." He smiled. I pocketed the paper and turned to wiping the kitchen counter.

"Thanks." I grinned. I just realised my biggest mistake, going to school meant more exposure to others... That was technically the opposite of what I was intending to do.

After my work shift, I grabbed my small pay and ran home, stopping in front of the local bin.

I pulled the information booklet from my pocket and stared carefully at it. I hesitated to tear it up and throw it out.

I made the smallest tear then continued down the page. Once I did that, I felt more confident to shred the booklet, throwing it out in the process.

No more school meant no more worries.

I entered my house to be welcomed by the cold silence. The loneliness of my life was really strong.

I saved my money in my little jar and fell asleep on an empty stomach, the less I think of it, the more the hunger pains go away.

I woke up in agony to see it was only 6:30 am. I got dressed and headed out to the Lucky Cat Cafe. When Hiro returned to his school, I would be left alone not having to worry.

I convinced with myself to not leave my job because of Hiro and continued on my way. I entered the cafe and grabbed a work apron from the peg.

I tied it on around my waist and walked to the kitchen, surprised to see no one there but Cass.

"Hello Cass!" I smiled.

"Oh hello (y/n)! Hiro is out with his friends so I guess it's just you in the kitchen and me outside." She grinned. I nodded in understanding and started the daily work.

I know I have been wanting to be alone in this kitchen but I never realised how boring it was.

You never truly know how lonely feels like unless you experience it, it's one of those emotions you just can't understand and empathise with.

A few hours later at 1pm, Hiro entered the kitchen. "Oh hey (y/n)! Sorry I left you, I was with some friends... How are you?" He asked.

"Fine." I simply replied. He started to help out a bit when he tried talking to me again.

"So... Do you hang out with friends at all? Or are you just one of those people who study hard?" Hiro asked.

"I don't study... I used to have a friend but she moved so no... I guess I have no friends." I said.

"Seriously?! Well you have me." Hiro reasoned.

"If you claim yourself my friend then I'm not going to argue." I said. Hiro laughed at my comment and continued to talk to me.

"So, thought about S.F.I.T?" He asked. I froze at the topic. I shredded that information flyer up!

"Uh kind of... I just don't know if I'll be good at it... Is there an open day or something?" I asked.

"No... Usually you just come in and visit to see what it's like. That's how my brother introduced me to my friends." Hiro explained. I nodded my head understanding.

"If you like, I can take you after work to see the labs." Hiro offered. I took his offer into consideration before replying with my answer.

"Sure! Doesn't hurt to try new things right?" I know I made the wrong choice in agreeing with Hiro but there was no turning back now! I slowly finished up my work and started the slow and painful walk with Hiro to his school.
