Old Opinion:  "Well, after watching Pahkitew Island, I can safely say I no longer hate Dave or Sky. I think both of them are awesome characters, and are definitely the highlights of that season. Sure, I like the other contestants, especially Samey and Ella, but Sky and Dave just have something special added to both of them. Sky and Dave feel like they are from the original cast, in both personality and charm. They can be over the top at times and even goofy, but their characters can be serious when they need to be. That is why I love them and think they make a pretty good couple. Well they would be a good couple if not for the fact Sky was dating someone outside of the show. Unlike most people, I'm not angry at this plot twist in the finale, as there was tons of foreshadowing beforehand, but I was really disappointed. I feel so bad Dave isn't going to win over Sky, and I only want him to succeed in dating her after everything he went through to try to win her over. Dave is like Carrie from the Ridonculous Race, who had to see the one they loved date someone else. Only Dave went crazy over the fact Sky was dating outside the show and he never won Sky over.

If there is one thing I would love the writers to do, it is to try to get Sky and Dave together, for real this time. Sure, I think Dave probably hates Sky's guts right now for using him (which I observed was accidental), but if Sky were to somehow show what she did wasn't meant to hurt him, maybe they would go out. That is of course after Sky splits up with her boyfriend, which may have happened after developing a crush on Dave."

  New Opinion:  What on Earth was I thinking a year ago?  Before I state my newer stance on this couple, let me just apologize to anyone who likes them.  I am really sorry for those who want Sky and Dave together, but I cannot see it happening anymore.  I did in the past, but that was before I got older and saw Pahkitew Island in a different light.  I 100% support anyone who likes them together, but I just don't anymore.

  In the past, I saw this couple as an opposite Carrie and Devin situation, only with the Carrie character Dave not winning over their love interest.  However, now I do not see this as the case.  I see as something a lot more original, with a realistic twist for both characters involved.  Dave fell in love with Sky to the point of obsession after she had helped him in many challenges, trying way too hard to win her over.  In the end, he reacted similar to Ashfur from the Warriors series of books after he got rejected by Squirrelflight.  When Dave found out Sky was dating someone already, he cracked and even tried to ruin her chances of winning the million dollars as his revenge.  Think of it like Ashfur trapping Squirrelflight's adopted kits in a fire, only much less crazy.  Sky thought she was developing some feelings for Dave, as she was away from home and in a new environment.  Similar to Bridgette's short separation from Geoff, she was away from her boyfriend and in a place where she couldn't focus directly on him.  She still loved her boyfriend in the end, and her feelings for Dave were a manifestation of a need to be with him again.  On the writers part, I have to give them a lot of credit for not making this one-sided attraction end in a romance and go for the more original route of not making things work. 

  Despite my feelings on the couple though, I still feel bad for both characters.  I really pity Dave for not knowing the truth fast enough and having to find out from Chris of all people.  I feel sorry for Sky, as she accidentally hurt Dave, herself, and her boyfriend through the fear of hurting Dave and keeping secret her relationship for too long.  Maybe in the future, Sky and Dave could find peace with each other and talk about what happened.  Possibly they could end up as friends if they worked hard enough or a relationship might actually form.  In the end though, it is the choice of the creators, and I hope they go for a forgiveness arc.  If some fans can really depict this idea in fan fictions perfectly, I don't see why the creators of the show can't.
