Old Opinion: "Is it kind of a crime to admit I think Gwen would have been better off with Cody vs. Trent or Duncan? Cody was just always so loyal to Gwen, as a friend and fellow teammate. Sure, there were a few times Cody went into stalker territory (such as sniffing her hair in the fifth episode of the show), but it was innocent compared to the things Sierra did to Cody. Additionally, he did one of the few things any guy with a crush on someone would do; be completely supportive of the relationship his lover had with someone else (Trent). It must have been hard for Cody to basically have to just sit there and watch Gwen be with another guy. However, he never had ill feelings towards Trent and even became friends with him as of Total Drama Action. Duncan is a completely other story (he hated him), and there was never any info released on how Cody feels about Cameron. I really wish Gwen liked Cody back and gave him a chance sometime in the series. To me, Cody's tragedy with not getting Gwen can be compared to Paris not getting Juliet in the famous Shakespearian play Romeo and Juliet. Paris loved Juliet with all of his heart, but like Cody, his love interest was committed to another guy."

  New Opinion:  The story of Cody's love for Gwen is like a Shakespearian tragedy.  Despite the fact that he was so loyal to Gwen from the beginning of the series, she never liked him back and dated other guys in his place.  Imagine Paris from Romeo and Juliet, but all knowledgable about the romance Juliet had with Romeo.  That is poor Cody, who never stood a chance with Gwen.  He ended up always in the friend zone, with seemingly no alternative to get him out of this Death Valley.  He fought as hard as Mark Anthony from The Tragedy of Julius Caesar for his love, but ultimately failed.  Cody ended up alone, like a Hamlet without his throne.

  Alright, that was a little preachy, but I seriously think Cody should have had at least a chance with Gwen.  Although I like her better with Duncan or Cameron, I'm not against the idea of Cody dating her.  I felt the writers made a mistake in Total Drama Island by not having Gwen be with Cody, and even seasons after the feelings stuck.  Hopefully in a future season, Cody gets a chance to at least see what a relationship with Gwen could be like, or moves on somehow.  Whatever the case, I like this one-sided crush and I want this story to have a satisfying conclusion.
