Set In Stone
Cameras are on
"We need to get to my cabin," Duncan said frantically.
"Wait, why do we-"
"There's no time for explaining!" He grabbed Zoey's hand and rushed back to the cabin. He quickly swung open the door, startling everyone who was already in there.
"I found something," the punk threw the tape on one of the empty beds. "Zoey says that you gave it to her," he pointed at José. The redhead bit her lip nervously.
"Sorry..." She said.
"Why didn't you want to let anyone know that you gave this to her?! He questioned.
"Duncan," the Spaniard started. "I have no idea what you are talking about! I don't know what's on this tape!"
Zoey squinted at him suspiciously. Yes, he had told her not to tell anyone that he knew because he didn't want to embarrass Heather. Could there have been another reason?
"Wait," Alejandro interrupted her thoughts. "What does this tape have on it?"
"It's you and Courtney flirting it up!"
"What?!" The brunette yelled. "We never flirted!"
"Let me hear it!" Alejandro grabbed the tape and hit play.
The first voice he could hear was Courtney's: "I don't think you're that bad of a guy."
Then his own voice came in: "So would you ever go out with me?"
What? I never said that! It must've been José! We can sound like each other if we want to.
He continued to listen
Courtney: "Yeah."
Alejandro: "You're with Duncan, right?"
Courtney: "Yeah. But I don't like Duncan in that way. Yeah, you played me back in World Tour but I think you're a great guy."
"I never said that," Courtney shook her head.
Alejandro: "Courtney?"
Courtney: "Yeah?"
A: "I'm sorry I ever played you."
C: "I'm over it."
There was a pause before she spoke again.
C: "Is there...something bothering you?"
A: "It's Heather."
C: "What happened between you two?"
A: "She's just being difficult as usual. Blaming everything on everybody else for her own damn problems. And I'm sick of it so I said we were through. She's just a spoiled little brat who whines when she doesn't get her way! She places her anger on to other people! It's getting pretty annoying. I mean, she acts like she knows everything and you're wrong if you don't agree! She gets that way every single fucking time something bad happens and it only makes things worse!!"
C: "So you ended it with her? How long have you guys been together?!"
A: "I don't know, for three years maybe? But it was all for the game."
C: "...Alejandro?"
Another pause.
C: "How much do you love me?"
A: "You mean the world to me. You're the most amazing woman I know."
And that was the end of the tape.
Alejandro gritted his teeth in anger. Yes, he said some of this stuff. Just not in that arrangement. "Zoey," he began. "This reason José didn't want you to tell anyone that he gave you this is because it's edited. Courtney and I never flirted last night. She simply told me that she didn't believe I tried to drown her, and I complained about Heather after our fight."
"What?" She let out a tiny gasp. She slowly turned towards José. "So you tricked me?"
"No!" He lied. "I didn't know this was edited myself! I simply found it laying there! It was obviously Chris who edited it then!"
"Then why did you suggest that someone could've recorded us and edited it earlier?" Alejandro asked.
The room went silent.
"It was a lucky guess," he shrugged. "I swear, I know nothing!"
"Oh yeah? Like you knew nothing about who tried to drown Courtney?" He pulled out a black mask from a pocket inside his jacket. "Courtney," he held it out for her to see. "Was this the mask you saw?"
The brunette's eyes widened and her mouth hung slightly open. "Yes," she nodded. "Definitely."
"This mask right here was my older brother Carlos's. He used to wear it for Halloween and he passed it down to José."
"That's such a lie!" José argued. "He passed it down to you!"
"If you guys believe him, go and ask Chris if he made that tape!" Alejandro yelled.
"He did make it! Don't listen to Al!"
"Shut up, José! You've already done enough damage!"
"You're the one who did the damage," his voice was deep with anger.
Courtney's heart stopped.
"Th-That," She pointed at José. "That was the voice I heard." Everyone turned to him, some expressing disbelief while others showed anger and disgust. José pretend to be clueless but by now it was too late.
"Are you fucking asking to die?!" Duncan yelled, balling his fists and marching up to him. But before he could do anything, José punched him to the ground.
"Oh my god, Duncan!!" Courtney screamed, rushing towards him. She sat right next to him and propped his head up in her lap.
"Hey!!" Geoff yelled. "What was that for, man?!"
"I was defending myself," José replied. "Do you think I want to get punched?"
"Gwen," Trent whispered. "Let's get out of here."
"You're not fucking leaving!" José interrupted firmly. "No one is leaving this cabin until you can manage to stay silent about all this!"
"So you admit it, huh?" Alejandro said. "You admit trying to kill Courtney and you admit editing that video?"
"Yes," he answered.
"Oh my gosh..." Bridgette's face went pale and she held onto Geoff.
"You see, this was all part of my plan to make you and Heather leave the island. But since you two are no longer together," he smirked with a laugh. "She's leaving by herself. And pretty soon, all of you will leave this island and I will be the one with all the money."
"Dude," Geoff stated. "Chill, it's only $500!"
"Oh, but it's not. Chris will change it to $5,000, then to $500,000, then to $1,000,000. You know how these shows work. And once he sees how amazingly cunning I was, he'll make sure that I win."
"F-fuck you," Duncan weakly held up his middle finger as he slowly sat up.
"Let us out of here!" Gwen yelled. "You're psycho!!"
"I've already told you," José snarled. "No one leaves until you can keep quiet about what happened!"
Once Duncan was back on his feet, he growled, running at him again. Courtney yelled at him to stop but he didn't listen.
"Let us out right now, or I swear I'll use this!" He pulled out his pocket knife. José only laughed.
"You're going to use that little thing? It may have scared Al but it's not scaring me."
"You'll be scared when I cut your face up!" He sneered. "You think you can hurt my girlfriend and get away with it?!"
"Well I already did," he replied with a smirk. "Tell me, Duncan, where were you when I kidnapped her and tied her up? Oh, that's right! You were asleep! And she was laying right next to you! It's almost as if you saw it happen and didn't do anything about it!"
"Don't listen to him, Duncan!" Courtney said. "He's just egging you on!"
"Shut the hell up!!" He yelled at José.
"That's enough!" Alejandro interrupted, getting in between them. "Duncan, I understand you anger towards my brother, but this is our fight. He's been been doing everything he can to ruin my for for the past twenty-two years!"
"He tried to murder Courtney!!"
"I know! But I don't want you to stoop down to his level!"
"Duncan," he heard his girlfriend say from behind him. "Please?"
He sighed. "Fine. I'll back off." He felt Courtney's warm touch around his arm and she gently pulled him away. He put his pocket knife away while muttering something about revenge.
"Hermano," José smiled maliciously. "That was rather selfless of you to-oof!"
Alejandro slammed him up against the wall and held him there. "Everyone get out!" He yelled. When the hesitated, he raised his voice. "Now!!"
Everyone ran out of the cabin and found Heather on the dock with her suitcase. "We can't let her leave!" Courtney said. "We need to tell her the truth!" Everyone nodded in agreement.
"Heather!" They all called urgently. The Asian stood up, looking baffled at first, then glared angrily.
"Who sent you all here?! Did Sierra?! Cause this isn't going to change my mind about leaving!"
"No!" Courtney quickly shook her head, walking up to her. "We heard the tape. And...I'm afraid you and Zoey were tricked."
"What?" Heather raised an eyebrow, almost offended. "You think I was tricked?! Now you're just making shit up!"
"It's true!" Duncan defended his girlfriend. "Zoey?" He looked at her.
The redhead frowned, stepping forward. "José...he gave me this tape and said that Chris recorded it. And I was foolish enough to believe him. It was edited by José."
Her eyes widened. What? "Why didn't you tell me that José gave it to you?!"
"Well I didn't want to embarrass you if you knew someone else knew about it! But...it all makes since now. José told me not to tell anyone that he gave it to me."
"Oh my god..." Heather breathed out. "I can't believe..." she looked at Courtney and noticed the black eye she gave her. Heather, dare she say it, felt a twinge of guilt. "Courtney," she began awkwardly, looking at the ground. "I'm...sorry for punching you."
The C.I.T. looked at her in shock. Heather actually apologized for something she did? "It's ok," she shrugged. "I can always apply makeup until it heals."
Heather, feeling more ashamed than she's ever felt in her life, turned back around with her arms crossed.
"Are you...still going to leave?"
She paused. "...Yeah. I've got nothing left to lose anyways. This show is what got me in trouble in the first place. It's only made my life worse. God, the things people will do for money."
"Alejandro still loves you Heather!" Courtney blurted out. "He told us that he does. He may be mad at you, but that doesn't mean he doesn't care anymore!"
"Well..." She But her tongue to keep from crying again. "H-he can deal with it himself. He said we were done, so we're done. And that's that."
**
José shoved his brother off of him, causing him to fall backwards and hit the ground. "You think you're so smart, letting everyone out to blab to Chris! Buy newsflash: Chris doesn't care. Since when has he cared about the wellbeing of others?"
"We don't need Chris to get rid of you!!" Alejandro glared, getting back up.
"Then what?" He asked. "What could you possibly do to get rid of me?"
"I'll make a deal with you." He hesitated. "If...if you leave this island right now, I won't tell anyone else what happened."
"Oh please," he laughed. "It's already too late for that since you let all these people out. I'm looking for something a little more...promising."
"Well what the hell do you want?"
"I just want you off the island. I want everyone off! But if we're playing it that way, I want..." he hummed in thought. "Heather."
"Is is this some kind of joke?!" Alejandro sneered. "She's too smart to go out with a psycho like you!"
"She wasn't smart enough to not believe the editing I made on that tape."
"That's because you used Zoey!"
"Still," he began. "Wouldn't Heather still think it was suspicious under any normal circumstances? Ever since that miscarriage, she's been way too vulnerable and off the walls lately. Even I could easily convince her to love me."
"If you go anywhere near her-"
"I thought you two were broke up? I thought you didn't care anymore?"
"Just because we're broken up doesn't mean I don't care about her or love her!"
"Well then that's your own problem. You love her, but you won't have her anymore. But I will-"
"Don't even touch her," he growled lowly.
"You're pretty jealous for someone who's not with her anymore," José mocked. "You know she'll find another guy anyways, right? You can't keep her from dating other men since she's no longer yours." Alejandro felt anger rise in his chest. "How does that feel, Al? She'll be kissing someone else, touching someone else, giving someone else all her attention instead of you."
"Can we not talk about Heather?!!"
"You're just frustrated that you still want her. That's cute. But I don't think she'll want you after what she heard on that tape."
"Why do you just love hurting the people around me?!" He yelled, angry tears forming in his eyes. "You ruin everything! You're always ruining my relationships with people! Why can't you just let me be happy for once?! What the hell did I ever do to you?!!"
"You came in and ruined my life!" He said. "I was perfectly fine being the younger sibling and getting everything I asked for! But once you came along, that was no longer the case! You were such a spoiled little brat by mom and you always got what I didn't!"
"So you decide to take it out on Heather, Duncan, Courtney, and who knows who else?!"
"It's not like you've never taken anything out on anyone," he pointed out. "I remember watching Total Drama World Tour. You played those women like a violin!"
"But it was only for the game! We aren't voting anyone off now! And besides, I realized it was wrong to do that and I may have went a little too far. Believe me, money is not important in the long run."
"You wouldn't know though, would you?" He snickered. "You never got anything out of this show."
"I may have not won any money, but I have Heather!"
"Do you? Because if I recall the last two days correctly, you guys are done for."
That was when Alejandro realized that they'd never truly be done for. He loved her far too much to let someone else take her away. But he also loved her enough to let her go if she wanted someone else. Then he remembered that her boat should be arriving at any minute now. I need to go talk to her.
"We're not over," He shook his head. "I can't let her leave!" He stepped forward to walk out the door when José stopped him by stepping right in front of him.
"Not so fast, hermano. She's leaving whether you like it or not."
"Move," he retorted, shoving him aside. Joss grabbed his arm and got back in front of him before he could go any further.
"No! She's already made her decision! She's gone!"
"I said move!!" Alejandro yelled, walking right through him. José tried everything he could to stop him. He tried tugging at his hair, at his clothes, tried jumping on him, but he eventually made it out.
Although he was a bit disheveled, he frantically looked for the dock. Once he had his sights on it, he raced towards it. "Heather!" He called.
He saw her turn around to look at him, but she made no facial expression and just turned back. "Heather..." he caught his breath as he came up from behind her. Everyone that was on the dock before left to give them some privacy. "Please listen to me, I-"
"I'm leaving, Alejandro," she interrupted coldly. "You wanted me gone."
"I-I never said that-"
"You did," her voice faltered. "Y-you said we were done! You said I was annoying and you were tired of me! You said it wasn't going to work out between us!"
"Heather, look at me!" He grabbed her arm and turned her to face him. She held her breath as her grey eyes met his emerald ones. "I didn't mean most of the words I said."
"I know you did," she replied quietly, moving her gaze downwards. "And that's fine. I...know I tend to blame everyone for my problems. And I guess...I can't stop. I've tried so many times to be a better person, but it hasn't worked. I feel like...like I'm stuck. I-I don't know what to do," a few tears trickled down her cheeks. "Nobody likes me, and I can see why. I don't even like me after the way I've treated people."
"Heather," he whispered gently, placing a his hand under her chin to bring her gaze back up to his. "Don't hate yourself. I won't allow that." She stared at him but remained silent as he continued to speak. "And I don't care who hates you. I love you. I didn't stay with you for three years and propose to you just to have you leave me. I don't care what I said yesterday. None of those harsh words meant anything. If you want to leave, go ahead and leave. I won't stop you if it's what you truly want. I just wanted to let you know that I still want you and I'll always want you, Heather. Through the good, the bad, the ugly...all of it."
Heather felt more tears burn behind her eyes and she bit her lip nervously. "What if...we break up again?"
"We won't," he answered surely. "We've already been through the worst of the worst. If we can get through this, we can get through anything."
"I..." She started, but choked on her words. The look on his face made her want to be vulnerable to him again. She wanted to crash her lips into his and let him hold her and tell her that everything was going to be alright.
But this was real life. There were no happy endings. There were no princes and princesses, kings and queens. There was no true love's kiss. And there was no guarantee that they would stay together after this.
But that's life, isn't it?
Screw being afraid.
Heather closed the distance between them kissed him passionately. He immediately wrapped his arms around her waist, trying to pull her as close as he possibly could. Two weeks without this had been enough.
"I love you Alejandro," she smiled when they pulled out. She stroked his face gently with her thumb and admired how soft and smooth his skin felt. Alejandro gazed lovingly into her eyes and ran his finger through a strand of her long hair.
"Mi amor," he whispered. "Don't ever think that I would leave you for someone else. You mean everything to me."
Heather blushed, then frowned. "I'm...sorry for shutting you out. I was fighting a few of my own battles and I just didn't know how to cope with them."
"You can always tell me what's going on," he said, taking her hand.
"I know that now..." she flushed. "I-I was having nightmares." Alejandro's face fell at her words. "They were about...about our daughter," she choked out. The Spaniard wrapped his arms around her comfortingly and she rested her head on his chest.
"Her name was Alexandra. It was the same dream every time. All three of us would be out in this field having a picnic. Oh god, she was so beautiful...Sh-She had your eyes." Heather stared off in reminiscence, eyes filling with fresh tears. Alejandro felt his lower lip quiver and he bit it, trying not to break down. "And she would always point to this pink flower and want to show it to me. And...then the storm would come a-and..." Heather's breathing became shaky. "Sh-She always screamed for me to help her and to save her, a-and...I couldn't." She buried her head deeper into his chest, letting her tears fall.
"God...i-it the worst sound in the world! I could hear her screams during the day...all the time. They wouldn't go away! They wouldn't leave me alone!" She stopped talking as her sobs became more violent and her shoulders started to shake.
"H-Heather," Alejandro's voice cracked as his own tears trickled down his face. "I didn't know you had to go through all of that. I wish I could've done it for you."
"No," she shook her head, running her fingers through his hair. "I wouldn't wish that upon anyone...not even Chris. Seeing your own baby getting taken away from you; crying for you...y-you don't want that."
Heather remembered when she used to think that the worst thing she could possibly go through was being humiliated in front of everyone and losing her popularity. After it happened on Total Drama Island, she realized that she was wrong. She was so wrong. Even after all she had been through, nothing had knocked her down like losing her own child had. Seeing her daughter's terrified face; hearing her bloodcurdling cries and screams before she disappeared...that was the worst thing in the world. It made her sick just thinking about it. More sick than any of Chris's past disgusting challenges did.
"You know this wasn't your fault, right?" Her fiancé asked, gently combing his fingers through her hair.
"What if it was?" She whispered. "What if this was karma for all that I've done to others around me? I've bullied people into depression, Alejandro. I've called people names that didn't deserve it, I've stollen other girls boyfriends, I've lied, I've manipulated people into thinking that they were my friends when they really weren't. I've-"
"I already know all of that," he interrupted. "And that doesn't change how I feel about you now. This wasn't karma, Heather. Things like this...they just happen sometimes. We can't do anything to change it. It's set in stone."
"I know, I just...I wish I could go back and fix every fucked up thing I ever did in my life."
"And I feel that way too," the Spaniard reassured. "But we need to learn from our experiences. That's what my mom always said to my brothers and I when we were little. Not that we ever listened." Heather giggled softly. "Point is," he held one side of her face with his hand and pushed her hair back behind her ear. "I love you. And I will do anything and everything I can to make you feel better. That's all I want. I just want you to be happy."
Heather closed her eyes at the warm touch of his hand and hummed in content. "Your mom was right. I love her and I love you." Alejandro smirked, pulling her in for another kiss.
That was when Heather's boat drove by. Still kissing her fiancé, she held one finger up and the driver scoffed, sharply turning around and splashing the both of them.
Heather and Alejandro pulled out, both astonished, mouths slightly agape. The Spaniard then shrugged, chuckling a bit. Heather sent him a small glare at first, then laughed herself.
"You know," he stated with a sly grin. "I think we need to get out of these wet clothes."
"Definitely," she played along. "It's been two long weeks. Heaven knows we both need to take our clothes off."
Alejandro picked her up and she yelped in surprise, then giggled. He was so caught up in the moment that he almost forgot about José, who was standing right next to the cabin.
"Awe, that's so cute," he mocked. "You guys got back together and now Heather's staying? What a perfect fairytale ending!"
Heather glared at him as Alejandro gently placed her down, glaring at his brother as well. "You can either leave us alone or leave the island. I know perfectly well what you did to try and mess up our relationship." She marched right up to him and got in his face. "And if you ever try and pull something like that again, I'll kick your ass so hard that you wish you were never born. I could make your life so miserable here for the last week."
"Oh yeah, she definitely can," Gwen interrupted, walking towards them with Courtney, Bridgette, LeShawna, Trent, Duncan, Geoff, Harold, And a few other contestants. "I've experienced it firsthand."
Heather's lips curled up into a little smile. "Yeah. What she said."
"Yeah," Courtney backed her up. "And I could too."
"Yeah right," José rolled his eyes. "As if you bitches could do anything that bad."
"Oh," Duncan laughed. "That's where you're wrong. Have you ever seen Courtney beat up a shark?"
"And have you ever seen Heather beat someone with a twenty pound shovel?" Alejandro smirked. "And the shovel was dented once she was done?"
"Ok," he scoffed. "When did any of that happen?"
"Season 2 of Total Drama," Sierra began. "Episode 24: Top Dog. Courtney beat up a shark. And season 5, episode 2: Evil Dread. Heather smashed other competitor Lightning's head with a shovel when he wouldn't give it to her. Do your research."
"Alright then. It's not like you guys could physically force me off this island."
"Hey!! Put me down!!" José snapped as all the contestants lifted him up and threw him into the next boat that was waiting by the dock.
"Bye," LeShawna waved.
"It was nice meeting you!" Zoey smiled sweetly.
"You guys cant do this!! "I will get my revenge! I swear!!!!" He yelled as the boat began to drive away.
"We won't miss you motherfucker!" Duncan yelled with his middle finger pointed in the air.
"Duncan!" Courtney lightly scolded.
"What? It's the least he deserved after everything he tried to do to you."
Suddenly, Chris came up from behind them. "Congratulations, campers! You managed to get rid of the most evil competitor yet!"
"Wait," Heather started. "This was set up on purpose?!"
"Of course it was," he smiled. "I knew José was evil and he told me all of his plans throughout the whole game. I just wanted to see if you guys could actually work together and get him out of here, and you did!"
"Dude," stated Geoff. "That's so messed up!"
"Not as messed up as making 22 teens jump off a thousand for cliff into shark infested waters," he winked at the camera.
"So does anyone get a prize for this?" Duncan asked.
"Heck no! I'm going to announce every individuals scores tonight at the bonfire."
"This was so stupid," Gwen said. "You told us that we would have to split the money between members in our group, now only one person gets the $500?"
"Oh no...it's not $500 anymore. It's now $1,000,000 again."
"Then why the hell didn't you say that?!" Heather yelled.
"I didn't want to get anyone's hopes up just in case I lost it. But I've managed to keep the briefcase safe this time."
**
Later that night, everyone gathered around the campfire and waited for Chris and Chef to appear with the results.
"I think I definitely won," Scott bragged.
"No, I think Scott did," said Lindsay. The farmer facepalmed.
"I know I probably didn't," DJ stated. "I just glad I get to go home soon."
"Dude," Geoff replied. "Don't we get another week to just chilled here and party? Don't you wanna stay for that at least?"
"Nah," he shook his head. "I miss mama too much."
"I don't really care if we win," Zoey said. "Especially since I won last time I was on here."
"It would be useful for our newborn in a few more months though," Mike pointed out.
"I just want to leave," Noah deadpanned.
"Aw, come on, buddy!" Owen wrapped an arm around him, nearly squeezing him to death. "You should stay for the after party! No challenges, no nothing!"
"Fine," he rolled his eyes. "I'll consider it."
"And now..." Chris's booming voice came from one of the big speakers. "For the moment you've al been waiting for...drumroll please...THE RESULTS!"
"Whoo hoo!" Lindsay cheered. "Wait...what results?"
Chef was the only one who came out in front of everyone with a clipboard, while Chris 'narrated.' "Only one person had more points than any other camper in this competition. Chef is going to read off the list of names from the lowest points to the highest points. Whenever your name is called, please come up for your applause...or your boos. Anyways, Chef, are you ready?!"
"I guess so," the cook rolled his eyes. He looked down at his clipboard and began calling out names. "The lowest name is Scott, who had a total of 15 points."
"Wait, what?!" The farmer said, mouth hung open. "I thought I had way more than that!" Everyone chuckled as he got up with a pout on his lips. "Man, this stinks!"
"Next was Noah, who had a total of 16 points." The nerd only shrugged as he went up.
"Mike; 17 points.
Harold; 18 points.
Duncan; 19 points.
DJ, Tyler, and Owen; 20 points.
Trent; 21 points.
Izzy, Lindsay, and Zoey; 22 points.
Bridgette and Geoff; 23 points.
Gwen; 24 points.
Cody, Cameron, and LeShawna; 25 points."
Chef paused and let Chris speak again.
"There are now only two competitors left. Sierra and Courtney. One of you has a total of 31 points while the other has a whopping 50 points." Both women sat nervously, fidgeting their hands and feet. "Who will it be? Chef, you can do the honors."
Said man cleared his throat for what seemed like a million times before he read: the contestant with 31 points and in second place is..." he paused.
"Oh, come on!" LeShawna yelled. "I'm not even in this anymore and I'm gettin' anxious!"
"Why can't I just go home?" Noah complained.
"I'll go when you guys shut up!!" He snapped. Everyone let out a heavy sigh and then went silent. "Thank you. Anyways," he cleared his throat a million times again. "The contestant with 31 points and in second place is...
...
...
...
"Sierra."
Courtney's mouth dropped open. Oh my gosh. I won? I actually won!!
"And, of course, the competitor with 50 points is Courtney." Everyone cheered.
The brunette, still in shock, stood up and was greeted by Chris, who gave her a briefcase. She opened it just to make sure there was actually money in there. Sure enough, there was.
"Wow..." she breathed out in awe, a smile tugging at her lips.
"Congratulations, Courtney!" The host flashed a smile. "Well, that wraps up everything for this season! Thanks for watching Total...Drama...Reunion!"
Cameras are off
"Princess!" Duncan ran up and hugged her. "You did it!"
"I...did. I did!!" She giggled, hugging him back and giving him a small peck on the cheek.
"Oh my gosh, Courtney!!" Bridgette exclaimed. "I'm so happy for you!!"
"Thank you!!" They hugged and jumped up and down together.
"Court!" Geoff held up his hand for a high five. She slapped his hand with enthusiasm. "My dude—I mean, dudette! Nice!"
"Thank you all so much!" The C.I.T. gushed.
"Courtney!" Alejandro came up with Heather, his arm wrapped around her shoulder. "Congratulations, Chica!"
"You're badass," Heather admitted. "I knew you could do it."
Courtney smiled gratefully, then gasped when she realized what she could do with this money. Yeah, she had just won like she's always wanted. She could've spent it on getting into a topnotch lawyer school. She could've spent it on a better house. A better car. Instead, she took out a few hundred dollars and held it out to the couple in front of her.
Heather and Alejandro both looked at her as if she were on drugs. "What are you doing?" The asian asked.
"I'm giving this to you."
"...Why? Especially after the way I treated you?"
"Well that wasn't your fault," she shrugged. "José was the one to blame. Here, it's for your wedding. I...could also help with the decorating and guest arrangements-but only if you want!"
The couple shared a glance, then ultimately decided to take the money. As they went to go back to their cabin, Heather stopped. "Wait," she told her fiancé.
"Hey," she placed a hand on Courtney's shoulder. "Thanks. It...really means a lot. No one's ever done something like this for me before."
"No problem."
"Oh, and Courtney?"
"Yeah?"
"You can totally help with the wedding arrangements. I may even let you be one of my bridesmaids."
"Really?!"
"Really."
"So," Alejandro smirked when Heather came back to him. "Courtney's going to be a part of our wedding, huh?"
"I might invite more people from the show too," Heather shrugged. "By the way, did you...by any chance happen to find my ring after I threw it?"
"Yep," he winked, pulling it out of his jacket pocket. "Viola!" His fiancé laughed when he presented it. "Heather Wilson," he said playfully. "Will you marry me?"
"Duh," she rolled her eyes with a laugh, letting him slide it onto her finger. "But I'm not sure if I want to take that last name of yours."
"What's so wrong with Burromuerto?"
"You know what that means in English, right?"
"Yeah, but I just try to ignore it."
"Maybe I could too."
The End
