--------
Upon the completion of the title sequence, the cameras panned in on the cabin of the Merciless Moose. Upon the completion of the elimination, the group was definitively split. Betty was crushed, mainly due to her closest ally being voted off. The remainder of the girls, as well as Devin were content, knowing that their plan worked. Alejandro and Aaron were upset that they were out of the loop, but did their best to brush it off. Zeyad was furious, given that his plan to overthrow Katelyn failed. He was now at the bottom of the team: the place that he dreaded the most.
"You all are idiots," Zeyad remarked as he laid down in his singular bed.
"Hey! I tried to get rid of the weak-link!" Aaron claimed, laying down in a lower bunk, "Unlike you, I tried to do the best for the team!"
"Well, I hope that you guys enjoy being bossed around," Zeyad commented sarcastically, "Because that's all that Katelyn will do."
"That's what you were doing to us!" Devin interjected from the bottom bunk across from Aaron, "We might have actually considered it if you didn't pester us with the idea!"
"Zeyad is way to focused on pointing out everyone else's faults that he forgets that he has faults too. Ugh! I've got to keep a close eye on him."- Devin
"Guys!" Alejandro exclaimed from the bunk above Aaron, "Can we just bury the hatchet for now? We're not going to get anywhere if we keep on arguing, okay?"
"Fine..." the other three guys agreed as they turned over in their bunks.
"I never thought that I'd have to be the voice of reason, but these guys are so easily riled up. We need to calm down if we want to have any shot at winning."- Alejandro
--------
Unsurprisingly, the boys of the Merciless Moose weren't the only ones with tension among themselves. The girls had their fair share of conflicts, although it was noticeably more silent than the boys' conflicts. None of the girls were certain of how to proceed: four out of the five of them had just eliminated the closest ally of the fifth girl. As Betty sulked in her tears on her solo bunk, the remaining four watched over her, waiting for someone to make a move.
"Who's gonna go and talk to her?" Kiana asked, "Someone has to."
"I think it should be Katelyn," Laila replied, looking over at her orange-haired teammate, "You are kind of responsible for the vote-off."
"Yeah, I guess I'll do it," Katelyn conceded as she walked over to Betty.
"Now that Tristan is gone, I need to do damage control with Betty. I need to pull her aside and let her know that I did this for the good of the team, and that the girls need to band together to form a majority."- Katelyn
"Hey Betty..." Katelyn greeted as she sat down on Betty's bunk, "Are you alright?"
"What do you think...?" Betty replied, crying.
"Look, I know that you're upset that Tristan is gone, but it's what we needed to do," Katelyn assured, tapping Betty on the shoulder, "Just know that us girls have your back, alright?"
"Sure..." Betty halfheartedly agreed as she got up and gave Katelyn a forceful hug, "Please don't leave me alone!"
"The first day in, and I've already lost my best friend! But I can't give up. I need to find someone else. Right now, Katelyn is my only hope, and I'm not going to let her down!"- Betty
"No...problem...!" Katelyn replied, slightly in pain from the hug.
"Who would've thought that being kind could hurt so much...?"- Katelyn
--------
While the Merciless Moose spent some time recovering from the elimination, the Wild Wolverines laid in their beds, wishing to get a good night's sleep in preparation for the next challenge. While the majority of them were fast asleep, one of them simply couldn't fall asleep, and she really didn't like it.
"C'mon Amalia! Why can't you fall asleep!" Amalia asked rhetorically.
"I talk to myself pretty often. I don't know, it helps me think I guess. But right now, I just don't get why I can't sleep!"- Amalia
"Is everything alright?" a person with a high-pitched voice asked from Amalia's doorway.
"Callie!" Amalia exclaimed, glad to see her, "Why are you here?"
"My room is next door; I can pretty much hear everything that you're saying," Callie explained, taking a seat on Amalia's bed, "I think I know what's going on."
"What do you mean?" Amalia asked, confused.
"You're missing someone," Callie explained, "You're longing for someone that you care about, and being far away from them is troubling you."
"When you're someone who doesn't have a lot of friends, like me, it makes you study a bit about social wishes and desires. Amalia seems to not want to be alone. Which is understandable."- Callie
"That doesn't make sense," Amalia insisted, now sitting up on her bed, "I've been away from family before, and I've been able to handle it!"
"Maybe you're missing someone who isn't in your family," Callie noted, trying to get to the root of Amalia's problem.
"Who would I miss-" Amalia began before being hit with a sudden realization, causing her facial expression to change to one filled with shock, "No...no...no..."
"Why?" Callie asked, confused, "What's wrong?"
"Callie, you cannot tell anyone about this, alright?" Amalia asked, hoping that she could trust Callie with a secret.
"Of course!" Callie assured, "What's going on?"
"I think I have a crush on Daniel..." Amalia admitted, covering her face in her hands soon after.
"Congrats!" Callie replied, doing her best not to be too loud.
"No! This is terrible!" Amalia insisted, "I'm thinking about him way too much! And it's only the first day!"
"What do you like about Daniel?" Callie questioned, wanting to know more.
"I mean, he's polite, brave, seems pretty smart, and he has similar interests to me," Amalia answered.
"So... he's the male version of you," Callie rationalized, "You probably miss him because he's the only other person here who is like you."
"Sigh...maybe you're right..." Amalia conceded, laying back down, "I'm just scared. We don't even know where he is!"
"I'm sure he's fine," Callie assured, standing back up, "For all we know, he could be in a spa getting a massage."
--------
Little did they know that Daniel was actually in a place very far from being a spa. Like he predicted before, Daniel was on Boney Island: an island filled with dangerous animals and even worse weather. Right now, it was pouring rain with cracks of lightning and roaring thunder, and he had no shelter, but he didn't care. Upon reaching the island, he was given a clue to help him find the Chris McLean Head of Invincibility. Since then, he made it his first priority to find the head, no matter how bad the weather was.
"C'mon! It's got to be here somewhere!" Daniel screamed as he forcefully dug into the sand at the beach.
"The clue said that the head was buried underground, roughly twenty paces from a withering maple tree and thirty-five paces from a statue of Chris. What I didn't count on was an island full of maple trees and statues of Chris! But I'm not leaving this island without that head!"- Daniel
Daniel continued to dig for hours. When he said that he wasn't going to leave without the head, he meant it. With the strength of the Dakotazoid and the ferocity of Shaun at the sight of zombies, Daniel dug in every single spot on the island that satisfied the clue's conditions. It wasn't until he dug his eleventh hole that he struck gold.
"Yes! Now, to get it out!" Daniel remarked as he reached into the hole and slowly pulled out a brown treasure chest. After wiping the water off his glasses and moving his black and blonde hair away from his eyes, he wiped the remaining sand away from the chest and prepared to open it.
"Alright! It's either the Invincibility Head or bust!" Daniel exclaimed as he opened the chest, only to reveal a piece of parchment, under which rested a small head resembling Chris McLean, "Yes! I can't believe it!"
*reading parchment* "Congratulations, you've just found the legendary Chris McLean Head of Invincibility. This head grants you immunity at an elimination ceremony. To use this, you must give it to Chris after everyone has voted, but before Chris reads the votes. You may also give the head to someone else or play the head for someone else to grant them immunity. This head cannot be stolen or taken from you. You may only use this head once, so use it wisely."- Daniel
"This is gonna save my game..." Daniel remarked as he collapsed onto the sand, "I'm exhausted."
"I'm reasonably convinced that my body used up an unhealthy amount of adrenaline during the last few hours. After I get my strength back, I'll need to fill in all these holes. I need to make sure that no one knows that I have the head."- Daniel
--------
By now, it was morning, and the two teams groggily got out of bed and headed for breakfast. For the Merciless Moose, due to them not winning the mini-mansion, they were forced to follow in the footsteps of many of their predecessors: heading to the mess hall to eat breakfast prepared by Chef Hatchet. With many of them knowing of the quality of food that Chef Hatchet prepared in seasons past, they weren't too keen on what they were about to be served.
"What do you think it'll be?" Betty asked, a bit scared.
"Well, it can't be worse than what the final seven had to eat in Pahkitew Island," Laila rationalized.
"No!" Devin cried, throwing his head into his arms, "In a movie, whenever someone says something can't be worse than something else, it always will be worse!"
"Newsflash: we're not in a movie," Katelyn reminded as she grabbed a food tray. "Let's just get this over with."
"Hopefully, this will motivate the team enough to win immunity so we won't have to deal with eating slop anymore."- Katelyn
"Bring it on, Chef!" Aaron ordered, slamming his tray down onto the counter, "Lay it on me!"
"Just take it," Chef replied as he tossed a sandwich and a bowl of brown soup onto Aaron's tray.
"Hmm...your standards are getting higher, Chef," Alejandro commented, peering over Aaron's shoulder.
"Y'know, just being nice. Hehe..." Chef chuckled.
"It's not about being nice. Chris told me that the more that we physically hurt the contestants, the less views we get. Less views = less money, which means I'm not paid as much. We also didn't want to take all the fun out of it, so we gave them food that looks normal, but is really just the same stuff that I serve every season. We please the audience and we get paid. Everyone wins!"- Chef Hatchet
"So, what did you have in mind for the next vote?" Devin asked to Katelyn.
"Well, I'd like to know who voted for me," Katelyn replied, taking a bite of her sandwich.
"I'm convinced that it was Betty and Tristan. Tristan is gone, so Betty should be next," Devin suggested.
"I know that Zeyad was the one who lead the charge to vote out Katelyn, but I can't tell her that. If I do, she'll get upset and confront Zeyad about it. Zeyad will know that I spilled the beans, and he might convince the girls to vote me off instead of Katelyn."- Devin
"I'm thinking Zeyad," Katelyn proposed, "He's a bit suspicious. He didn't agree to vote for Tristan, so I know that he's not on my side."
"If you think so..." Devin agreed, taking a sip of Chef's soup before swallowing it with effort.
However, this wasn't the only strategy talk going on in the mess hall. Far away from Katelyn and Devin's discussion, Rhythm and Kiana were talking casually. At least, this was the case until Zeyad came over to them and sat down next to Rhythm. He was visibly upset, and the female duo knew why.
"So...care to explain why you two didn't vote for Katelyn?" Zeyad asked with anger in his voice.
"We...uh...we didn't think that Katelyn was that bad?" Kiana replied, terrified.
"This is what I was afraid of! I don't want anyone mad at me! I made my choice! Is that so bad?!" *Cries*- Kiana
"Now, because of you two, Katelyn has a free pass to the merge," Zeyad claimed, "There's no way that we'll be able to stop her."
"Not with that attitude," Rhythm remarked as she took a sip of her glass of water.
"Are you saying that I have an attitude?" Zeyad asked, positioning his face right in front of Rhythm's.
"Guys, please don't fight-" Kiana began before being cut off by Rhythm throwing her soup all over Zeyad.
"AHHHHH!" Zeyad exclaimed, jumping up and down wildly, "I've got to get to a shower!"
"Nice shot!" Katelyn praised as Zeyad ran out the door towards the communal showers.
"What can I say? I don't tolerate people who think that they're 'all that'. I especially don't tolerate people who are ignorant to their own faults. Zeyad's attitude today pretty much confirmed to me that I made the right decision last night."- Rhythm
--------
While the Merciless Moose ingested Chef's food with effort, the present nine members of the Wild Wolverines took their seats in the dining room of their mini-mansion, ready to be served breakfast by the butlers. On the menu for today: a tomato and onion omelette, home fries, bacon, and buttered toast. To go along with the meal, the members of the Wild Wolverines were also given a coffee dispenser, which the campers quickly made use of.
"Dude, don't you think that you should hold back on the coffee a bit?" Matthew asked to Tory, "That's like, your third cup!"
"Fourth," Tory corrected before going back to drinking, "It's my last one, I promise."
"Okay...I might have a little addiction to caffeine. But it's not like I drink this much everyday. I usually drink a cup once every couple days or so. Today, I'm just so hyped for today's challenge that I need a big source of energy. Sure, it's not the healthiest option, but it's the most convenient."- Tory
"It's not that bad for you," Veronica claimed as she took a sip of her coffee.
"Thank you!" Tory thanked, giving Veronica a high-five.
"Although it's not the best source of energy," Veronica claimed, "Eating two bananas gives you the same amount of energy as five cups of coffee, y'know."
"I'll make a mental note," Matthew remarked.
While these three continued their discussion over the best way to build up energy, Amalia was doing her best to stay awake. She was unable to get a lot of sleep during the night due to her concern over Daniel's safety. It was very puzzling to her that the person that she seemed to like the most was the one hurting her game, even though he had no direct part in it.
"Good...foo..." Amalia muttered before laying her head on the table, inadvertently faceplanting into her omelette.
"Amalia..." Callie stated as she shook her fatigued friend before grabbing a banana from the fruit bowl, "Here, try this."
Before Amalia could interject, Callie picked Amalia's head up from her plate and began feeding her the banana. After a few seconds, Amalia took the banana from Callie, allowing her to feed herself. Within fifteen seconds, Amalia finished eating the banana, which she signified by dropping the banana peel onto the table.
"Now how do you feel?" Callie asked.
"A little better, I suppose," Amalia replied, rubbing her eyes.
"I could barely sleep last night! I was so scared for Daniel that I couldn't think about anything other than him! Man... who knew crushing on someone could be so tiring?"- Amalia
"This might be a long few weeks," Amalia commented, leaning back into her seat.
"You're winded," Callie observed, "You need to do something about this 'Daniel' problem."
"Are you saying... that I need to get rid of him?" Amalia asked, unsure of what Callie's point was.
"No! No!" Callie answered, backtracking, "I think that you need to talk to him about it."
"What do I tell him? 'Hey Daniel, I have a crush on you and I couldn't go to sleep because I was thinking of you all night!'" Amalia sarcastically suggested, "Yeah, that totally doesn't sound creepy."
"You need to do something," Callie insisted, "You can't keep this up for the rest of the competition."
"Attention campers!" Chris called out from the loudspeakers, "It's time for the next immunity challenge! Please make your way to the beach! Now!"
"No time to waste everyone!" Alexander declared are he ran towards the front door, "Let's go everyone! C'mon!"
--------
Within ten minutes, the eighteen campers made their way over to the beach. At the beach was a relatively simple setup. On the beach were two circles made of cloth, each isolating a patch of sand. Roughly ten feet away from each circle was a table, seemingly made to fit a puzzle. Far out in the water were two large platforms, each with a ladder to a higher platform. Hanging roughly five feet above and five feet in front of the higher platforms were five ceramic boxes. The campers weren't sure of what the challenge was, but they would find out soon enough.
"Hello campers. Before I reveal the challenge for today, let's bring Daniel back to the group," Chris declared as a helicopter slowly lowered towards the ground before dropping a rope, allowing Daniel to slide down to the beach.
"So Daniel, would you mind telling the campers where you were?" Chris asked.
"I was at Boney Island," Daniel revealed, resulting in a fit of gasps from the other campers.
"Oh my God! I must've been so hard for him out there! Ugh! I should've agreed to send Alexander there instead of him! Wait...no! Stop it, Amalia! You can't keep thinking this way!"- Amalia
"Tell them a little bit about your visit," Chris encouraged, hoping to strike fear into the hearts of the other campers.
"Let me say this: bring an umbrella, because there was a huge storm, and I got lucky that there were a few frond leaves to use to shield me from the rain," Daniel revealed.
"Of course it was a lie, but I'm obviously not going to tell the others that I went looking for the Chris McLean Invincibility Head; too big of a target to put on my back. I just need to lay low and do my best to help my team."- Daniel
"Alright Daniel, you may join your teammates," Chris allowed, granting Daniel the right to run over and join his team, where Amalia resisted the urge to give him a hug.
"Campers, here is your next challenge," Chris began, "On my go, you will swim out to the platform one at a time, climb up to the higher platform, jump off, and use a club to smash the box. Inside the box is a key; once you land in the water, you must grab your key and swim back to shore, and then the next person will go. While five teammates work on getting the keys, four other teammates will dig up a chest in the ground. Once you have all five keys, one of the other four teammates who dug up the chest must use them to unlock the chest to reveal a bag of puzzle pieces. The remaining three team members must complete the puzzle on the table. The first team to solve the puzzle wins immunity."
"This doesn't seem that dangerous," Aaron commented.
*facepalms* "Don't people realize that when they comment on the lack of badness in a situation, it will immediately become worse?!"- Devin
"Oh yeah, and we stocked the water with sharks, as usual," Chris added, "Oh, and Wolverines, because you have one more dude than the Moose, one of your men must sit out of today's challenge."
"Can we change into our swimsuits first?" Kiana asked.
"Normally, I'd say no, but according to the lawyers, there's only so much that I'm allowed to deprive you of. So yes, you may all go change," Chris answered, allowing the nineteen campers to return to their cabins.
"Both teams are in for a whirlwind of a time in this challenge," Chris commented, turning to face the main camera, "Which team will come out on top? Find out when we return on Total...Drama...Island:...Return to Wawanakwa!"
