Episode 15: The Hopeful & The Heartbroken- Nighttime/Breakfast

"Last time on Total Drama Island: Return to Wawanakwa..." Chris began as he spoke through a voiceover, "With Daniel voting out Veronica; one of Amalia's closest allies, he raced to ensure that there were no ill feelings between the two of them."

*Shows shots of Daniel & Amalia eating dinner, making up, and kissing*

"At the same time however, the remaining six campers began plotting to separate the romantic couple once and for all."

*Shows shots of Rhythm talking to Katelyn & Kiana, Tory talking to Matthew, and the five of them discussing a plan together*

"Unluckily for them, it was a duo's immunity challenge, allowing Amaniel to sail their way to victory, and forcing the others to turn against each other."

*Shows shots of the campers working in pairs, and Daniel & Amalia riding their way across the finish line*

"With her back against the wall, Rhythm aggressively campaigned to send the votes against Matthew; the perceived popularity threat."

*Shows shots of Rhythm talking to Katelyn & Kiana, shortly followed by Daniel & Amalia*

"But seeing an opportunity to flip the game, Katelyn & Kiana roped Devin into a final three deal, and attempted to convince Daniel to join them in voting for Tory, the perceived physical threat."

*Shows shots of Katelyn & Kiana talking to Devin, followed by the three of them talking to Daniel*

"In between it all, Daniel & Amalia had a serious talk about what to do with their relationship, leaving Amalia less than pleased."

*Shows shots of Daniel & Amalia talking about their relationship, and of Amalia being upset*

"When the vote came around, the votes ended up in Tory's wheelhouse, forcing him to leave the island, but not before warning Daniel about Rhythm."

*Shows shots of Katelyn, Kiana, Daniel, & Devin voting for Tory, Chef Hatchet carrying Tory down the Dock of Shame, and Tory warning Daniel*

"Seven campers are left: who will be voted out next? Find out right here, on Total...Drama...Island:...Return to Wawanakwa!"

--------

After the title sequence finished playing, the cameras panned in on the female's side of the losers' cabin, where Rhythm continued talking to Katelyn, Kiana, and Matthew. Considering that this was the fourth time in a row where the vote went against her wishes, she felt the need to find out what happened.

"Alright, I'm not upset, but I'd like to know what happened," Rhythm declared.

"I don't know why, but it seems like every time I try to take control of a situation, my plans fail. But I'm not gonna give up; I've got to take any chance I get to make a big move. It's either you make the move, or someone makes the move on you. I'll take the first option."- Rhythm

"We made the move because we can't afford to have Tory in this game any longer," Kiana claimed, "He could beat any of us in a physical situation."

"It's clear that Rhythm is a bit frustrated. I don't blame her; I'd be frustrated too if my target didn't get voted out. But at the very least, I need to make sure that she isn't too mad at us yet. We need to remind her that Daniel & Amalia are still the prime targets."- Kiana

"Don't deny it; you agreed with us," Katelyn reminded, "But now, we need to rally together and turn our attention back to taking out Daniel & Amalia."

"Yeah, right," Rhythm agreed, "They're still the biggest threats."

"We've got to get them out," Matthew remarked, "You can count on me for my vote."

"Now that Tory is gone, I don't know if I can trust anyone here 100%. All I can really do is try to be nice to everyone, keep the target off my back, and just vote with whoever is in the majority. Hopefully it works."- Matthew

"Do you guys still have Devin?" Rhythm asked.

"Why?" Katelyn replied, confused, "I mean, we do, but what's the need? We have four votes with just us. That's a majority."

"If we have Devin, it allows us to split the votes and ensure that one of them goes home even if one of them has an invincibility statue," Rhythm explained, "Remember: Daniel did go back to Boney Island after the merge."

"Did Devin find anything at Boney Island?" Katelyn asked to Kiana.

"He hasn't told me anything about Boney Island," Kiana admitted, "If he found anything, he hasn't told me."

"Do you think he found anything?" Matthew asked.

"If Daniel found something, Devin probably won't find anything," Katelyn rationalized, "Hopefully that's not the case."

--------

Unfortunately, luck would not be granted to Devin on his trip to Boney Island. Much like his previous trips to Boney Island, the clue given to him was the same clue that Daniel received on his last trip to to island, meaning that he was there for nothing. Even though he didn't know that there was nothing to find, he still managed to increase his searching pace.

"C'mon!" Devin shouted, "I've been to this island three times by now! Where is it?!"

"I'm not giving up. I mean, the clue is still the same: the head is hidden in the burning flames of a divided path. But there's another note here. *begins reading* "Be wary: you will be the last person to visit Boney Island this season. Make use of your time left." *puts away paper* "This is my last chance to find an advantage. It's now or never."- Devin

Unsurprisingly, it would have to be never. Devin continued to search the entire island for hours. He left no stone unturned, no leaf unplucked, and no log untouched. After hours of searching, and nearly zapped of energy, Devin used the last of his strength to reach into a red bush. If he had the strength to stand up, he would've noticed that the bush was in between two paths. Instead, he collapsed onto his back in a heap of exhaustion, with nothing to show for it.

"It's not here..." Devin muttered as the rain continued to fall onto him, "Daniel must have it..."

"Daniel...or someone must've found the invincibility head before me. I'm not that bad at finding things; just because I couldn't find love here doesn't mean that I'm a terrible looker. I'm positive that an invincibility head was hidden after Zeyad's elimination. Aside from me, only three other people have been here since Zeyad left: Aaron, Daniel, and Veronica. The only one who I can ask is Daniel; he might tell me. It's either that, or Aaron or Veronica were voted out without having used it. Either way, I'm gonna ask Daniel if he has it."- Devin

--------

Daniel's ability to find invincibility statues was unmatched by anyone else in Total Drama history. Also, if he ended up winning the season, he'd hold the distinction of being the first person to win while using an invincibility statue along the way. One strategy that he employed that none of his predecessors did was that he refused to tell anyone about his invincibility statues. It was natural to him: the less information that was out there, the less information that could be used against him. It was as if he wanted to be completely invisible.

"Man...how am I going to get out of this one..." Daniel muttered to himself as he paced around the music room.

"I might be over-exaggerating, but I'm in a pretty precarious position right now. People are admitting to me that I would've been blindsided if I didn't win immunity. Yes, Amalia and I won immunity together, but let's be real: I would've been the prime target because I've been to Boney Island and she hasn't. I could very well be voted out next if I don't win immunity."- Daniel

As much as Daniel wanted to lay low with his challenge performances, it was clear to him that he was quickly becoming a threat. In his mind, he needed to shore up a new alliance to keep himself & Amalia safe. However, with the exception of Amalia, he didn't trust anyone enough to the point where he'd reveal his gameplan.

"Rhythm is after me, Matthew is probably after me..." Daniel noted to himself, "I guess I got to rely on Katelyn, Kiana, and Devin."

"I agree," Amalia commented from the doorway, causing Daniel to turn around in shock.

"Hey there," Daniel greeted, "Sorry, I'll be up in a bit."

"Well...before we head upstairs, there's something that I wanted to do," Amalia revealed as she grabbed Daniel by the wrist and pulled him towards the piano, "Sit down."

"Alright..." Daniel agreed, intrigued, "What's this about?"

"Last time we were here, you played and sang a song to me," Amalia reminded as she took a seat next to her boyfriend, "Now it's my turn. This is for you, Daniel."

  ♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫

Amalia:

Absolutely no one that knows me better...
No one that can make me feel... so good...
How did we stay so long together...
When everybody, everybody said we never would?

And just when I...
I start to think they're right...
The love has died,

There you go making my heart beat again, heart beat again, heart beat again,
There you go making me feel like a kid,
Won't you do it and do it one time?

Amalia & Daniel:

Woah-oh, woah-oh,
Stuck like glue...
You and me baby we're stuck like glue,
Woah-oh, woah-oh, stuck like glue...
You and me baby we're stuck like glue,

Daniel:

Woah-oh, woah-oh! You almost fell!
Too stuck together from the ATL!
Feeling kinda sick,
Just a spoon full of sugar make it better real quick, yeah!

♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫

"Now this is fun! This is the kind of bonding opportunity that I've been waiting for."- Daniel

"I remember the first time that Daniel and I sang together; it was amazing. I feel like that's when our relationship really started, and I wanted to bring forward the good memories that we've had together. it looks like he loves it."- Amalia

♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫

Amalia: Woah-oh, woah-oh! What you gonna do with that?
Daniel: Woah-oh, woah-oh! Come on over here with that,
Amalia: Sugar-sticky sweet stuff,
Daniel: Come on give me that stuff,
Amalia:  Everybody wants some,
Daniel: Melodies that get stuck,

Amalia & Daniel:

I said
There you go making my heart beat again, heart beat again, heart beat again
There you go making me feel like a kid
Won't you do it and do it one time?

Amalia:

There you go pulling me right back in, right back in, right back in,
And I know...
I'm never letting this go...

Amalia & Daniel:

There you go making my heart beat again, heart beat again, heart beat again,
There you go making me feel like a kid,
Won't you do it and do it one time?

Amalia: One time...

♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫

"That was really nice," Daniel admitted, smiling, "Thanks."

"A gift from me to you," Amalia remarked as she scooted closer to Daniel and hugged him, allowing the two of them to kiss.

"Y'know, despite all that the two of us have gone through in this game, the two of us are still together. Even when one of us messes up, we work through our problems instead of fighting. This couldn't be any better."- Amalia

"I love you..." Amalia admitted as she pulled back, allowing the two of them to make eye-contact.

"I...really like you, y'know," Daniel replied hesitantly.

"Can I ask you something?" Amalia requested rhetorically as she let go of Daniel, "I told you that I love you...at least twice by now; why haven't you said it back?"

"Yeah..." Daniel muttered, visibly uncomfortable, "I was afraid that you'd ask that..."

"I bet there are sooooo many people watching this right now and screaming, 'Just say the words, idiot!' Sadly, it's not that simple. Love....emotion in general...is difficult for me to express. I don't like that about me; I despise the fact that I can't look someone in the eye and tell them exactly how I feel without making it technical. It's...just...UGHHHHHH!" *slams head into hands*- Daniel

"I-It's...a difficult thing to explain..." Daniel answered.

"Just speak," Amalia insisted, as she put her hand on her boyfriend's right shoulder, "I'll be here to listen."

"I'm sure that Daniel just needs a little reassurance. I mean, I doubt that he's ever gotten this far with a girl before and he just doesn't know when the time is right. He may be book smart, but it's time for me to teach him a thing or two." *smirks*- Amalia

"Have you ever told a girl that you love them?" Amalia asked, "Like, a girl who's not in your family."

"No..." Daniel admitted, embarrassed.

"You've had a girlfriend before, right?" Amalia recalled, "Not even to her?"

"Yes, I've had a girlfriend," Daniel confirmed, "And no, not even to her."

"Why not?" Amalia asked.

"I...don't want to talk about it..." Daniel insisted.

"Look," Amalia declared as she gave Daniel a kiss on the cheek, "What we have is real. I'm not just pulling your leg."

"I'm sure that's something that you'd love to do..." Daniel joked, causing Amalia to playfully slap him.

"Anyways...you can trust me; you do like me, right?" Amalia questioned.

"Of course I like you!" Daniel confirmed.

"What's the difference between like and love?" Amalia asked, trying to make a point.

"It's...just who I am..." Daniel answered, "I can't explain it. It's a scary feeling."

"Coming from 'Ms.Rebelle', when I'm scared of something that I need to do, I just jump into it," Amalia admitted, trying to motivate Daniel, "C'mon, say it with me."

"O-okay..." Daniel agreed reluctantly.

"I..." Amalia began.

"I-I..." Daniel repeated.

"Love..." Amalia added.

Before Daniel could mutter another word, he got up and walked out the room at a moderate pace. Even though Amalia did her best to make him feel comfortable, he still wasn't willing to verbally declare his love for his girlfriend. As Daniel made his way upstairs, Amalia remained in the music room, wondering why Daniel was so hesitant.

"Maybe it's the years of watching romantic comedies telling me this, but Daniel isn't the traditional boyfriend. I'm fine if he's a bit uncomfortable right now, but I just wish that he'd open up to me a little more. I mean, aside from me voting for him a few weeks ago, he has no reason to think that I'm untrustworthy."- Amalia

--------

In all fairness, being trustworthy was a quality desired in any ally. When there's trust between two people, it gives them both a sense of security.  For people like Katelyn & Kiana, they found a sense of security in each other. On an interesting note, they were the only two allies left who have been together since the beginning of the game and haven't gone against each other up to this point. Through thick and thin, they stuck by each other, and neither of them seemed to want to throw the other one under the bus.

"So, I know that we're still in an alliance, but we need to start thinking about the home stretch," Katelyn remarked to Kiana as they ate breakfast in the mess hall, "I'll just say it: I would love it if us two make it all the way to the end."

"I've been burned by a lot of people in this game. Kiana is really the only person left who hasn't betrayed me. She's been completely loyal this whole time, and I think it's time for me to start playing loyal. Kiana is a genuinely good person and I'm sure that we have each other's backs."- Katelyn

"I feel the same way," Kiana admitted, "I feel like we would make a pretty good final two. Not just from a game perspective, but from a fan's perspective too."

"Yeah!" Katelyn agreed, "I mean, we've kinda been the underdogs this entire game. People will love that story."

"I hope the fans like us," Kiana expressed, "That's why it's good to not be the enemy right now."

"Katelyn & I balance each other well. She's picked up some niceness from me, and I've picked up a bit of her strategic nature. Despite all that we've been through, we haven't turned our backs on each other. Yes, I did make a plan in case she was voted out, but I was willing to go down with her ship, and I'd still do it today. If we both can make it to the finals, I'll be really happy."- Kiana

"Now...we need to discuss our strategy going forward," Katelyn declared, "Who are the bigger threats? Daniel & Amalia, or Rhythm & Matthew?"

"I think it's in our best interest to take out Daniel & Amalia right now," Kiana expressed, "Long term, it's gonna be bad for us if we keep them around."

"So we have to try and beat them out for immunity," Katelyn rationalized, "Hopefully we can split the vote against them if neither of them win."

"We've got to win the next immunity challenge," Kiana declared, "Not just to prevent them two from winning, but to ensure that we're safe."

"Attention campers!" Chris called out from the loudspeakers, "It's time for the next immunity challenge. Please make your way out to the beach right now!"

--------

As the present six campers reached the beach, they saw seven podiums with mini chalkboards on them, and several different 'stations' scattered about, each with some sort of mini-challenge. Upon further inspection, they noticed that each mini-challenge looked similar to a immunity challenge that they had faced previously. There was a buoy in the water, a slider puzzle hanging fifteen feet in the air, and a table with ten shots. This left them all a bit intrigued as to how the challenge would work.

"Welcome campers," Chris greeted as a boat pulled up onto shore, "Of course, let's welcome Devin back from Boney Island."

"C'mon maggot!" Chef Hatchet exclaimed as he grabbed Devin by the shirt and threw him out of the boat.

"Devin!" Kiana shouted as she ran over to check on him, "Are you alright?"

"Sleepy..." Devin muttered as he struggled to lift his head off the sand, "Too...much...searching..."

"Let me help you up," Kiana requested as she slung Devin over her right shoulder and carried him back to the group.

"Anywho...let's get to today's challenge," Chris declared, "I'd like to call it: Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Faster. There will be six rounds. Each round, I will present to you a challenge to complete that is based off of a previous episode's challenge. Then, you each will write down a time in which you think you can complete the challenge. Whoever writes down the fastest time will attempt the challenge. If they don't complete the challenge in the time that they wrote down, they'll be eliminated. If they do complete it in their set time, whoever wrote the largest amount of time will be eliminated. The last camper left in the challenge will win immunity."

"I'm not too confident in this challenge. I mean, I've always had my team to help me with most of these challenges, so I'm not too thrilled."- Matthew

"This is the kind of challenge where flying under the radar might actually get me to the end. I've just got to make sure that I don't write down the fastest or slowest time, and I'll be fine."- Katelyn

"I'm feeling pretty good about this challenge. With Tory gone, I can't think of anyone who would beat Amalia and I out for immunity in this challenge. This should be perfect for us."- Daniel

"I'll give you a bit of time to think over your individual strategies before we get started," Chris declared before turning to face the main camera, "Who will succeed at the reboots of old challenges? And whose old memories of failure will come back to haunt them? Find out when we return on Total...Drama...Island:...Return to Wawanakwa!"

--------

A/N: To all the readers who have made it this far, thank you so much for continuing to read my story. It's humbling to know that there are people out in the world who enjoy what I write. Now, as for the story, I'm sorry that the production of the chapters has slowed down over the past few weeks; life kinda caught up on me a little bit. Don't worry, I do intend to finish this season. Past that, I do want to write more seasons of Total Drama. Because of that, I'd like to know what you all think the next season should be. Comment down below of any suggestions you may have. Here's what I've thought of so far:

Total Drama Double Trouble: Nine pairs, each made up of a Total Drama Veteran and one of their loved ones, competing against each other. Eventually, the pairs will be split into two teams (veterans/new campers), and the game continues as normal until one camper wins the million dollar prize.

Total Drama Supernatural Island: Sixteen new campers split into teams of eight, each being lead by a Total Drama Veteran that can be described as 'supernatural'. Same format as the current season, with the exception of the challenges and island being 'supernatural' themed.

The Ridonculous Race Returns: Twenty duos competing in a race around the world for a one million dollar prize. Some Total Drama campers will be contestants on this season. (Yes, this isn't technically a Total Drama season, but I'd like for it to be considered)
