Episode 2: Blood vs Water- Nighttime/Morning

"Last time on Total Drama Double Trouble..." Chris narrated through a voiceover, "Nine returning campers arrived on the island, each with a loved one that they wanted to compete with in an individual game. Huh, interesting..."

*Shows shots of the campers arriving on the island in pairs*

"After their arrival, the campers were split into two teams: the Multiple Mole-Rats, lead by Amalia & Karlie, and the Observant Owls, lead by Rhythm & Dallas. One by one, the remaining duos were selected, until Fedor & Spencer were left unpicked."

*Shows shots of Amalia & Karlie and Rhythm & Dallas being chosen as leaders, each duo being picked, and Fedor & Spencer standing together*

"But in a surprising twist, the twins were given the power to pick the winning team. With that, they gave immunity to the Mole-Rats, while the Owls were given Fedor & Spencer, and were tasked with figuring out who to vote out."

*Shows shots of the twins finding out their advantage, the twins picking the Mole-Rats to win, and the Owls sulking over their loss*

"The team quickly divided itself into two divisions: Rhythm's alliance, consisting of Dallas, Kavan, and Veronica, and then Damien's alliance, consisting of Katelyn, Annie, and Tory. This left the twins caught in the middle, debating between voting out Veronica: the physical threat, or Katelyn: the unpredictable threat."

*Shows shots of Rhythm, Dallas, Kavan, & Veronica talking, Damien, Katelyn, Annie, & Tory talking, and Fedor & Spencer thinking very hard*

"In the end, the twins elected to keep the team strong, voted out Katelyn, and sent her sailing away from the island on a rocket-powered jet ski."

*Shows shots of Fedor & Spencer voting for Katelyn, and of Katelyn being pulled away by the Jet Ski of Losers*

"Seventeen campers are left, who will be voted out this time?" Find out here, on Total...Drama...Double Trouble!"

--------

Following the opening sequence, the cameras panned in on the female's side of the losers' cabin, where Rhythm, Dallas, and Veronica were talking about the recent elimination ceremony. With their plan having succeeded, they set their sights on ensuring that they stayed in power, and that none of them would be blindsided.

"That was a close one, don't ya' think?" Veronica commented as she laid down in her bunk.

"The point is that our plan worked," Rhythm remarked, "That's what counts."

"Getting rid of Katelyn was something that needed to happen eventually; she's known for being a straggler and making it much farther than she should. It was better to get her out ASAP."- Rhythm

"But now we need to focus on decimating the other side of the team," Dallas declared, "We need to make sure that they don't even get a sliver of momentum."

"Well, we have the six votes," Veronica noted, "Us three, Kavan, Fedor, and Spencer."

"I don't trust the twins," Dallas admitted, "Straight-up."

"Okay, I don't trust Fedor; Spencer hasn't done anything bad to us yet. But overall, I don't want Fedor in the game. I know that he's putting on a façade to try and gain our trust, and I'm not gonna wait around for him to betray us."- Dallas

"In every pair, romantic or not, there's the dominant person and the submissive person," Dallas rationalized, "Fedor is clearly the dominant person in that twosome. If he wants to betray us, Spencer will listen to him. And I think Fedor will want to take us out."

"What options do we have?" Rhythm asked, "We need Fedor & Spencer's votes if we're going to have a majority."

"Not if we can convince one of the other three to vote with us," Dallas noted.

"But that's only five votes in a team of nine," Veronica reminded, "We won't be able to split the vote."

"It doesn't matter; none of them have an invincibility statue," Dallas insisted, "We just need someone to vote with us this one time."

"Hey guys," Kavan called out as he appeared in the doorway, "Someone wants to talk to you three; should I let them in?"

"You're not a secretary," Veronica joked, "But yeah, let them in."

"Come in," Kavan welcomed as Annie walked into the room.

"What's up, Annie?" Veronica asked, trying to be casual.

"Look, I get that I was left out of the vote, but that doesn't mean that I'm upset," Annie claimed as she took a seat on a bunk.

"I mean, we understand that you might be a bit angry with us," Rhythm assured, "We just couldn't tell you."

"That's not important," Annie insisted, "What I want you guys to know is that Tory and I are still open to joining you guys."

"Tory may be a bit worried about playing hard, but I'm not gonna sit back and get voted out. I want to go to Veronica & Rhythm and try to convince them that Tory and I aren't a threat to them. Hopefully they buy it."- Annie

"To be honest, you two weren't our targets to begin with," Veronica admitted, "We'd be more than willing to have you along with us, right guys?"

"Yeah, that's good," Rhythm agreed.

"I agree," Dallas replied tersely.

"Welcome aboard," Kavan welcomed.

"At this point, I just want our team to get along. I mean, this game is about strategy and all, but that doesn't mean that we can't be friends. Just because this show is called 'Total Drama' doesn't mean that there has to be drama all the time."- Kavan

--------

At heart, all of the campers felt that way; they all wanted to be the nicest that they could possibly be, but there was too much at stake to value being nice over winning the game. Although, this didn't stop some campers from socializing; in one of the bedrooms of the mini-mansion, Karlie and Alina were getting to know each other, wanting to build some sort of friendship.

"So basically, her and I are kind of like 'partners-in-rebellion', or something like that," Karlie admitted whilst sitting on Alina's bed.

"Wow," Alina muttered, amazed, "You two really have a history together, huh?"

"I guess so," Karlie agreed, "We're like each other's sister that neither of us had."

"Amalia and I met in junior kindergarten, and we've been friends....pretty much since we met. I remember it vividly: it was during craft time, and while I was painting a picture of my family, she attempted to use paint and letters to display synesthesia. I asked her what she was doing, and she opened my mind to the world of thinking and acting differently from the norm. Since then, her and I have made our own paths in life, and we've had fun doing it too."- Karlie

"You two are so lucky to have a good friendship," Alina remarked, "Reminds me a lot of Callie and I."

"Anyways, where is Callie?" Karlie asked, wondering why she wasn't with them.

"She's talking with Daniel," Alina answered, "She wanted to keep him company. Y'know, with Amalia gone and all."

"She's really nice, isn't she?" Karlie noted.

"You got that right," Alina confirmed, "She's probably the nicest person that I've ever met."

"I can always count on Callie to be there for me. There was this one time at our school when this guy kept on trying to ask me out; he literally followed me around all day, even when Callie and I were eating lunch outside. Once he started singing to me, Callie just went up and slapped him with a water bottle. Sure, it's not that violent, but it worked; he hasn't talked to us since."- Alina

"How long have you two known each other?" Karlie asked, curious.

"We met in 9th grade," Alina answered, "We were partners for a big English assignment and we just jelled."

"Well, if I must say it, you two are really close," Karlie admitted.

"That's why I'm happy that I'm here with her; we get to compete together and have some fun on a reality television show," Alina rationalized, "At the same time, I know that my friendship with Callie might make me a target later on."

"I love that Callie and I are really close, but it's threatening to the other campers because they know that we wouldn't betray each other. It'll be fine for now, but I know that sometime later, we're gonna get targeted like Daniel & Amalia were last season."- Alina

"Yeah, that's what sucks about playing with someone that you care about," Karlie admitted, "Not to mention, I'm playing with last season's winner. I'm bound to be targeted at some point."

"Honestly, Amalia didn't give me that many tips on how to win the game. According to her, everyone plays a different game, so I just have to go with the flow and follow my instincts. And right now, my instincts are telling me that I need to watch my back at all times."- Karlie

"Looks like we need to stick together," Karlie rationalized, "For both of our sakes."

"Exactly," Alina agreed, "I mean, I can't promise a final two deal or anything right now, but we can definitely make a final four deal."

"I'm all for that, and I'm sure that Amalia and Callie would agree with that," Karlie remarked, "But...there's also the issue of Amalia & Daniel."

"Well, Amalia has shown that she'll betray Daniel without batting an eyelash," Alina reminded, "I don't know if it'll take much to-"

"Nah, she won't do it," Karlie insisted, "She's done playing that way."

"I would bet money that I know Amalia better than anyone else. She told me that she promised herself that she would never again betray Daniel, and when Amalia puts her mind to something, she gets it done. She's not gonna vote him out."- Karlie

"And I actually like Daniel as a person," Karlie admitted, "I honestly thought that he'd be kinda obnoxious."

"Why?" Alina asked, confused, "He was super nice when last season premiered."

"I thought that the producers just wanted him to look good because he was given such a 'winner edit'," Karlie admitted, "But when he didn't win and I met him after the season, I was proven wrong. He's a nice guy."

"So I've been told," Alina agreed, "Amalia caught a good one."

"Hopefully she can catch something good on Boney Island," Karlie remarked.

--------

Amalia was hoping for the same thing. She knew that Boney Island was nothing to scoff at; with roaring wind, pouring rain, and torrential waters, it was almost uninhabitable. But she was there for a mission: to find herself some sort of advantage. Whether it be an invincibility statue or some other form of advantage, she set her sights on locating one of them for the better of her game.

"Woah!" Amalia exclaimed after falling into a puddle, "Ugh...I don't remember it being this hard."

"Last season, I only went to Boney Island once, and I didn't find anything, which pretty much allowed Katelyn to find an invincibility statue. Now that I know what could happen if I don't find something, I don't want to leave this island with nothing."- Amalia

Leaving the island with nothing was a common action done last season. Although, this was mostly in part due to Daniel finding an invincibility statue before anyone else could. But who could blame the others? With the relatively ambiguous clues and the diverse landscape, finding your way back to shore was just as difficult as finding an invincibility statue.

"Advantages are all quick to hide; to find one you must slide to the side," Amalia muttered, reading the clue that she received when she arrived on the island, "Slide to the side?"

"I'm not a fan of these clues. I mean, c'mon, 'Slide to the side'? This isn't a f*ckin' playground! What is that supposed to mean?"- Amalia

After roughly two hours of searching, it was clear to Amalia that she wasn't getting any closer to finding an advantage. As of now, her shoulders were beginning to feel a bit sore from all the searching, and she didn't want to completely exhaust herself before the challenge, so she retreated to the beach and attempted to get a good night's sleep before she had to return to the island. Needless to say, it wasn't easy for her.

"Cold..." Amalia commented as she curled up into the fetal position to warm up, "And this is why I like sleeping next to Daniel; much easier to stay warm that way..."

--------

Amalia and Daniel's relationship progressed nicely over the past two years since they left the island. They've gone on several vacations together, met each other's families, and they even ensured that the two of them were enrolled at the same university. What was good about their relationship is that it didn't drastically change who they were already; Daniel supported Amalia's desire to be a rebel, and Amalia accepted that Daniel needed moments to just be silent and think.

"By all laws of logic, this might be my only chance to make something happen," Daniel muttered to himself as he began walking towards the losers' cabin.

"Last time, I played the game 24/7, and I got third place. Although, I don't blame my gameplay for losing me a spot in the finale; that was all Amalia. On that note, I don't blame her for that. Back to the topic: I'm going to play this game the same way that I did last time; being nice, secretive, and making little moves that could blossom into bigger ones."- Daniel

In Daniel's mind, it was easier for him to make many little moves that could blossom into bigger ones as opposed to making bigger moves that would likely make him look more threatening. With him being a returning player; not to mention a third place player as well,  the target on his back was already glowing, and he was ready to take action to ensure that he wouldn't be targeted so early. He looked at his watch: nine o'clock, meaning that his mission was soon to begin.

"C'mon..." Daniel muttered as he stood outside the door to the male's side of the losers' cabin.

"Ugh..." Fedor groaned as he groggily walked out of the cabin, closing the door behind him, "Oh, hey Daniel."

"Hey man, mind if I talk to you for a bit?" Daniel asked.

"So I walk out of the cabin, and Daniel is just standing outside, waiting to talk to me. Honestly, I was tired and definitely not in the mood to talk. But I couldn't let him know that, of course."- Fedor

"Sure," Fedor agreed as he began walking towards the communal bathrooms, prompting Daniel to follow him, "What's on your mind?"

"I'm just thinking about the game and all," Daniel admitted, "So, how are you doing with your team? Do they like you and Spencer?"

"You already know the answer to that," Fedor assured, "They aren't exactly giving us the warmest of welcomes, especially since we just pissed three of them off."

"Look, just know that you'll have someone rooting for you both on the other team," Daniel insisted, "I've got both of your backs."

"I couldn't care less if Fedor believes me; I'm looking out for Spencer. If the Owls lose another challenge, Fedor is probably gonna get voted out. That leaves Spencer alone, vulnerable, and eager for an ally. That's when I step in, comfort him, and gain a number that Amalia and I can use to make it further."- Daniel

"I know that I'm not supposed to be picky right now, but Daniel isn't my first choice for an ally. He lied to my face last season, so I have every right to be cautious. I won't brush him off, but I won't dive right in. For once, this gambler won't take a chance."- Fedor

"Attention campers!" Chris called out from the loudspeakers, "The immunity challenge will be in thirty minutes! Please make your way to the beach before then."

"Well, I'll see you at the challenge," Daniel assured as he retreated to the mini-mansion, allowing Fedor to head to the mess hall for a quick snack.

--------

Before long, the present sixteen campers made their way over to the beach, where they were met with an interesting sight. Waiting for them on the beach were eight wooden platforms (four blue, four green), each about six inches above the ground and roughly ten feet away from other platforms. Behind each platform was a long pole and several bags attached to hooked ropes, each in the colour of the team that it belonged to. With such little materials present, it left everyone wondering what they'd have to do.

"Alright, campers; before we get to the challenge, let's welcome Amalia back from Boney Island," Chris declared as a boat pulled up to shore, allowing a fatigued Amalia to get off and begin walking towards the group.

"Woah..." Daniel muttered as he ran over to check on Amalia, "Are you hurt?"

"Just tired," Amalia answered as Daniel picked her up and carried her back to their team bridal style, "I missed you..."

"Save your energy for the challenge," Daniel requested before giving Amalia a kiss on her forehead.

"Anywho...now it's time for your next immunity challenge," Chris declared, "Two males and two females from each team will have a pole across each of their shoulders. Each round, weight will be added to one of the poles. The decision for who gets the weight will be made by the campers on the other team. When the weight becomes too much, you drop the pole, and you're out of the challenge. The last person standing with all of their weight wins immunity for their team."

"I'm not saying that our team is f*cked, but just take a look at us. We're not that strong at all."- Karlie

"This is the challenge for me. It's time for me to go out and show my team that I am dedicated to helping us win."- Kavan

"I know that I'll totally kill this challenge, but I'm only one guy. Aside from Daniel and maybe Amalia, I'm the only one who actually does weight presses and stuff like that."- Ariton

"This isn't a good challenge for me. The last time I ever lifted weights was in gym class two years ago. I'll let my team deal with carrying the weight."- Dallas

"You have five minutes to figure out who from your team will be the weightbearers," Chris declared before turning to face the main camera, "Who will carry their weight in this challenge? And who will come crashing down in a fit of patheticness?  Find out after the break, right here, on Total...Drama...Double Trouble!"
