Episode 16: Remembering The Past- Immunity Challenge

With the completion of the commercial break, the next footage shown was of Veronica, Zeyad, Karlie, Daniel, & Alina walking down the path behind the mini-mansion. Chris instructed them to head down that path to the site of the next immunity challenge, for which they were all eager to head to. With the knowledge that no one would get a second chance to re-enter the game that season, everyone was motivated to win so they wouldn't have to worry about any potential blindside against them.

After about ten minutes of walking, the campers reached a sandy & grassy clearing, where they saw an interesting sight. In the center of the clearing was a 20ft x 20ft wall, with a fireplace resting in front of the bottom half of it, a 90" television hanging from the top half of it, and four slabs resting ten feet from the fireplace. As they walked closer to the wall, they noticed dozens of scrolls on the ground, though they didn't have time to read them. Before long, the five of them stood by the slabs, waiting for Chris to arrive.

"Hello, campers," Chris greeted as he walked out from behind the wall, "It's time for the next immunity challenge: Messenger Run. For today's challenge, you'll have to deliver messages to the one...the only....The Mad King!"

"I am The Mad King..." Chef Hatchet remarked as he appeared on the television screen.

"No special guest this time?" Karlie asked to Chris.

"Ya' saying I ain't a special guest?!" Chef Hatchet exclaimed.

"Chef, we see you everyday; you're pretty much a co-host," Zeyad noted.

"Ugh...whatever," Chef Hatchet muttered before taking a sip of tea from a small cup.

"Anywho....the five of you are messengers for The Mad King," Chris declared.

"Wait!" Alina interrupted, "Where's Callie?"

"Well, she forfeited her right to compete in this episode's immunity challenge," Daniel noted, "So she's probably waiting back at camp."

"Correctomundo, and now back to the challenge: this challenge will be played in rounds," Chris declared, "Scattered around the field are scrolls with statements on them. In each round, The Mad King will name a previously eliminated camper, you must find a scroll with a statement that describes the eliminated camper, kneel on a slab with one of the scrolls, and read the scroll aloud to The Mad King. If you bring him the wrong scroll, or are the last camper to bring him the correct scroll, you will be eliminated from the challenge. After each round, a slab will be removed. The last camper left in the challenge will win immunity."

"There's a lot riding on this immunity challenge; with Callie unable to compete, it's up to me to ensure that at least one of us is safe going into the next elimination ceremony. I don't know if Karlie & Daniel are fully on our side, so it's better safe than sorry."- Alina

"Even after everything that's gone down over the past few days, I'm still one of the biggest threats, if not the biggest threat left in the game. I need to win to ensure my safety and further seal Callie & Alina's fates."- Veronica

"For the first time in a while, I'm actually trying to win an immunity challenge. My strategies are slowly getting more and more exposed, which puts me at risk of being targeted. Winning immunity is the only way to ensure that I can't be voted out, so I have to try for it."- Karlie

"We'll give you a few minutes to strategize before we start, "Chris declared as the five present campers continued thinking.

--------

Within five minutes, the five present campers were shown kneeling in front of the slabs, ready to begin the challenge. With only five of them competing in the challenge, they knew that the challenge was going to end quickly and intensely. They did their best to remember qualities about all the eliminated campers as Chris got the challenge started.

"Time for round one!" Chris declared before turning to face the television screen, "Take it away, Mad King."

"Listen up, subjects!" The Mad King ordered as he read from a scroll, "I need information about.....Dallas! Go bring me the right scroll!"

With that, all five competing campers ran out and began reading through multiple scrolls. While this challenge was similar to the 'Beardo's Swamp' challenge from the previous season, it was more difficult considering they had to take time to figure out who each scroll described. With nearly 150 scrolls around the field, there were a lot to read through.

"What do I remember about Dallas?" Karlie asked to herself as she read another scroll, "'She's as quiet as a mouse-' Nope!"

"I realized quickly that the 'descriptions' were mostly about the campers' performances in challenges. I remember a fair amount about all the challenges, but I definitely don't remember every detail about how everyone did."- Karlie

"'Girlfriend to Rhythm'.....yep," Veronica remarked as she grabbed a scroll and ran to kneel on a slab.

"I think this is right," Daniel commented to himself as he ran over and knelt on the slab next to Veronica.

"One thing that I liked to do at Playa de Losers was watch all the previous episodes of the show. Because of that, I know most of the little details about the challenges. That should give me a bit of an edge."- Daniel

"Which one is it?" Alina asked to Karlie, who was searching next to her.

"Uh.....this one! 'Girlfriend to Rhythm'," Karlie answered, showing her scroll to Alina before running to the wall and kneeling on a slab.

"It's between Alina & Zeyad," Chris narrated as the two remaining campers furiously searched through the field, "Who will get back first?"

"I'm literally shook," Zeyad admitted as he read through some of the scrolls, "'Got brain freeze'..."

"The producers love their memory challenges. Why can't they add mental challenges that don't have to deal with memory? Like, why can't they have a clothing design challenge or something?"- Zeyad

"'Rhythm's girlfriend-' Yep!" Zeyad declared as he picked up the scroll and began running back, were he saw Alina kneel down on the last slab, "Dang..."

"Good try," Daniel commented.

"Yeah, out in the first round," Zeyad reminded, "Woohoo..."

"What information did you all bring me?" The Mad King asked.

"She could speak on a whim; and is the girlfriend of Rhythm," Karlie read.

"She could speak on a whim; and is the girlfriend of Rhythm," Alina answered.

"She could speak on a whim; and is the girlfriend of Rhythm," Veronica replied, reading from her scroll.

"She isn't dumb, and she spelled 'scum'," Daniel read, confused as to why his scroll was different.

"Ooh! Daniel's out! He doesn't have the same answer!" Zeyad commented excitingly as he read his scroll, "She could speak on a whim; and is the girlfriend of Rhythm!"

"Karlie, Alina, Veronica, and Daniel are all correct," The Mad King declared, shocking Zeyad.

"What?! There's more than one correct answer?!" Zeyad asked.

"Of course there is; there's a limited amount of each scroll in the field, so you can't just cheat off each other," Chris revealed, "Zeyad, you're out."

"Ugh..." Zeyad groaned as he walked towards the losers' bench.

"I'm not having any luck with these challenges. I wish we could get a painting challenge; maybe then I'd win it." *sighs*- Zeyad

"Time for round two!" Chris declared as he removed the slab that Karlie knelt on, "Take it away, Mad King!"

"I need you all to bring me information on..." The Mad King began as he unrolled a scroll of his own, "...Spencer! Go!"

Upon hearing The Mad King's signal, the remaining four campers took off to find any of the correct scrolls. Despite Chris' comment on the limited number of correct scrolls, that didn't stop the campers from trying to help each other out. Even though only one of them could win the challenge, since most of them were allies with each other, they were willing to help each other out.

"Is this it?" Karlie asked as she showed her scroll to Daniel, "'He was a good archer.'"

"Uhh......yeah!" Daniel confirmed after taking a few seconds to think.

"Thanks!" Karlie thanked as she ran back to the slabs.

"What was that?" Veronica asked, having overheard Karlie asking Daniel for help.

"It's the one about an archer," Daniel answered as he read another scroll, "'cut the blue wire-' yep!"

"Nice one!" Karlie praised as Daniel joined her on the slab next to her, "Who do you think takes the last one?"

"Probably Veronica," Daniel admitted, "I just helped her out."

"Dude!" Karlie exclaimed as she slapped Daniel's right shoulder, "We can't help her!"

"We need to keep up the act so she'll still be able to trust us when we make a plan tonight," Daniel pointed out, "We're not exactly the most trustworthy people."

"I know better than to get on Veronica's bad side. At the end of the day, the longer that I can keep Veronica in the dark, the easier it'll be to blindside her. For all I know, she might be genuine, but it's too risky to test her and find out."- Daniel

"Yes!" Veronica exclaimed as she knelt down on the slab next to Daniel, "Thanks for the help."

"No problem," Daniel replied, smiling as he fistbumped her.

"Aww..." Alina groaned, sporting a slight smile as she joined her fellow campers by the slabs.

"What information did you all bring me?" The Mad King asked.

"He was not a marcher, but he was a pretty good archer," Karlie answered as she read her scroll.

"He was set on fire, when he didn't cut the blue wire," Daniel declared, confident despite having a different answer."

"He was not a marcher, but her was a pretty good archer," Veronica revealed, content that she had the same answer as someone else.

"Those are all correct answers," Chris confirmed, "Alina, you're eliminated."

"Good luck, guys," Alina wished as she took a seat next to Zeyad on the losers' bench.

"I couldn't have done better if I tried. I guess Callie is the brawn and I'm the brains of our friendship." *laughs* "I guess now I hope that Daniel wins the challenge; I trust him a slight bit more than Karlie, and we need to keep immunity away from Veronica."- Alina

"Time for round three!" Chris declared as he removed the slab that Karlie knelt on once again.

"Daniel, you told Karlie the plan, right?" Veronica asked as she stood with Daniel & Karlie behind the slabs.

"Yeah," Daniel confirmed.

"Look, we got the job done; Alina is out of the challenge," Veronica noted, "There's no reason to fight over it too badly."

"I'm willing to do whatever I have to do to to win this challenge; I need the immunity. If I can convince them to not try as hard to win, it makes my life a little bit easier."- Veronica

"Take it away, Mad King!" Chris ushered, pointing at the television screen.

"I need you all to bring me information on..." The Mad King began as he read from a third scroll, "...Amalia! Go!"

For the third time, the three remaining campers raced out into the field. In contrast to the past two rounds, the campers split up, electing to look on their own. Brushing aside Veronica's words of wisdom, the three of them searched furiously, hoping to find a correct scroll faster than the others. With Amalia having been eliminated prior to the merge, the campers had to remember events that occurred earlier on in the game. For some, it was easy, and for some, it didn't matter.

"This has to be it," Daniel claimed as he grabbed his scroll, ran back, and knelt on a slab.

"Daniel gets back first!" Chris announced, "It's down to Veronica & Karlie for the final spot."

"Damn it..." Karlie muttered as she continued searching, "I gotta move fast."

"I see Daniel run back to a slab, and it dawns on me that it's me vs Veronica. That was a big moment for me; if I could beat Veronica out for the final spot, she'd be eliminated from the challenge, and I can continue my run as the girl with the swing vote."- Karlie

"Let's see: ...leave with injury..." Karlie read as her face lit up with a smile, "Yes! This is it!"

Feeling elated, Karlie grasped the scroll and turned around to run back to the final slab. But her hopes and dreams of winning the challenge were crushed as she saw Veronica already kneeling at her destination. As Karlie slowly walked over to the slabs, she felt multiple feelings, all of which brought down her mood. She was disappointed that she lost, upset that she didn't win, and furious that she couldn't pull out a win when she needed it.

"Good try," Daniel assured as he looked up at his ally.

"Whatever," Karlie replied, clearly angered.

"What information did you all bring me?" The Mad King asked.

"No one could foresee that she would leave with an injury," Veronica read, remembering the moment that Amalia broke her leg.

"She always loved to woo her boyfriend Daniel Trieu," Daniel declared, causing his fellow campers to laugh at the statement.

"Those are all correct statements," Chris assured as Veronica & Daniel tossed their scrolls into the fireplace, "Karlie-"

"I'll see myself out," Karlie interrupted as she angrily walked over to the losers' bench.

"I was hoping you'd win," Zeyad assured as he tapped his supposed ally on her right shoulder.

"I did too," Karlie agreed, "Who do you want to win now?"

"Daniel," Zeyad answered, "No reason."

"I actually want Veronica to win, but I didn't want Alina to know that. If Veronica wins, it ensures that she can't be blindsided, and that leaves it open for Veronica, Daniel, Karlie, & I to split up Alina and Callie."- Zeyad

"I need Daniel to win this challenge. If the 'final four' alliance is back together, we need Veronica immune if we're going to target her. She's a big threat, both physically and mentally."- Alina

"I told Daniel that we need to get immunity in our hands if we're going to continue being the swing votes; he messed up by helping Veronica in the second round. If he doesn't win this round, I'm gonna slap him so hard that he'll want to go swimming back to Amalia."- Karlie

"Good luck," Daniel remarked as him and Veronica shook hands.

"Likewise," Veronica agreed, "Remember: you just got back, so no one's gonna target you. You don't have to win this one and potentially put a bigger target on your back."

"Your words are heard," Daniel assured.

"Veronica may want me to throw the challenge to her, but she's not the only one in danger; I was gone for a while, so I need a little time to get a full grasp of where everyone stands in the game. Winning immunity buys me one more episode to formulate an end gameplan and make the right moves that can get me to the end."- Daniel

"All that stands between me and immunity is Daniel. I'll admit it: he's a really tough competitor. And since he just got back from relaxing at Playa de Losers, he's probably refreshed and in the best shape he's ever been in. But I'm ready to fight tooth and nail to beat him."- Veronica

"Time for the final round!" Chris declared as he removed the slab that Veronica knelt on, "Your call, Mad King."

"I need you both to bring me information on..." The Mad King began as he unrolled his final scroll, "...Kavan! Go!"

With that, the final two campers in the challenge raced to find any scroll that described Kavan. It didn't take long for scrolls to be thrown all over the field. It was understandable; with Veronica being Kavan's girlfriend and Daniel being one of Kavan's closest friends, they could easily tell whether or not the scrolls described Kavan. This wowed all of the spectating campers.

"They're moving pretty fast," Zeyad noted.

"What do you expect?" Karlie asked whilst continuing to stare at the two remaining campers searching, "They're two of the best."

They hadn't realized it at first, but they couldn't deny that Veronica & Daniel were two of the biggest threats left in the game. They all remembered the friendly rivalry between the two of them during the previous season; knowing that the two of them were still left in the game was a bit intimidating, and now that one of them was about to be immune, it was daunting to watch. After almost forty-five seconds of continuously watching, the round was ready to end.

"Sub-eidetic memory, don't fail me now!" Daniel muttered to himself as he grabbed a scroll, sprinted back towards the wall, and slid onto a slab.

"F*ck!" Veronica exclaimed as she ran up behind Daniel seconds later, "You got it?"

"We'll see," Daniel remarked, breathing heavily.

"What information did you all bring me?" The Mad King asked.

"He may not be a nestling..." Daniel began before taking a deep breath, clearly fatigued from the last round, "...but he beat Tory in armwrestling."

"That's correct!" Chris confirmed as the four losing campers began clapping, "Congratulations, Daniel; you just won individual immunity!"

With that, Daniel forcefully tossed his scroll into the fireplace, fell to his knees, and threw his head into his arms. It was clear to everyone that he was elated with having won immunity. Since he was brought back into the competition last night, he wanted to prove that he wasn't going to let this second chance pass him by. Motivated by the thoughts of his family, friends, and Amalia, he earned himself a spot in the final five, and he was perfectly fine with that.

"Yes....yes..." Daniel muttered as he got up on his knees and covered his mouth with his hands.

"Nice job, man," Veronica praised as she pulled Daniel up and onto his feet.

"Thanks," Daniel thanked.

"Here you go, Daniel," Chris declared as he placed the Golden Marshmallow necklace around Daniel's neck, "Daniel's safe from tonight's vote, but the rest of you are going into the elimination ceremony exposed."

*Shows Golden Marshmallow necklace* "This is exactly how I wanted to come back into the game. This necklace gives me enough time to fully assess where everyone else stands in the game, figure out where I stand with everyone, and determine what I need to do to make it to the final two. Don't worry, Amalia; I'm gonna win this for both of us!"- Daniel

"This sucks! I was so close to beating out Daniel....again! Ugh...now I just gotta hope that Daniel & Karlie will stay loyal to Zeyad & I and help us finally split up Callie & Alina. We can only hope."- Veronica

"You have the rest of the afternoon to figure out what you want to do," Chris declared before turning to face the main camera, "Well, it looks like last night's vote sent a challenge threat back into the game. How does the chopping block change now that Daniel is immune? Will Callie use her invincibility statue? And who will be voted out next? Find out after the break on Total...Drama...Double Trouble!"
