Episode 16: Remembering The Past- Downtime/Elimination

"Welcome back to Total Drama Double Trouble," Chris welcomed as the main cameras panned back on him, "Before the break, Daniel called upon his genius-like memory and won his second individual immunity challenge of the season. With only six campers left, what tricks do they have up their sleeves? Let's take a look at what each camper has in mind for the upcoming elimination ceremony."

--------

The cameras first turned their attention to the living room of the mini-mansion, where Daniel, Karlie, Callie, & Alina gathered to talk about their plans for the upcoming elimination ceremony. With their alliance nearly reformed, and with Veronica & Zeyad both vulnerable for elimination, they were ready to hatch a plan to ensure that the four of them would make it to the final four.

"Great job on winning, Daniel!" Callie congratulated.

"Thanks," Daniel thanked, smiling, "It's still amazing to think about."

"Winning immunity at this stage in the game is always a good thing. At this point last season, I was a big target, and winning immunity was a necessity; this season is no different. I know that once Veronica is gone and Callie & Alina are split up, I'm the next biggest threat. I've just got to prepare for it."- Daniel

"Well, we're here for a reason," Karlie reminded, "Alina and I were talking last night, and we want to bring this final four alliance back together."

"Right," Alina confirmed, nodding, "There's six campers left, so we need four of us for a majority. There's four of us here, and if we stay loyal to each other, we should be able to make it to the final four without any problems."

"Lately, it's been getting pretty hard to trust people. But I'm hoping that Daniel & Karlie trust Callie & I just enough so we can split our votes and ensure that one of Veronica or Zeyad will be voted out."- Alina

"Us two agreed to it," Karlie assured, pointing between her and Daniel, "All we need is Callie's approval."

"You can count on me," Callie assured, smiling, "I really like this group of four right here."

"As Zoey from 'Revenge of the Island' would call it: a friendship alliance," Daniel claimed.

"Sure, let's call it that," Karlie agreed halfheartedly, "Now, we have enough votes to split them. We put two on Veronica and two on Zeyad."

"Yeah; we'll just have Callie & I vote for Veronica while you and Daniel vote for Zeyad," Alina rationalized, "Is that alright with everyone?"

"Fine by me," Callie assured, smiling.

"I'm fine with it, but that's the easy part," Daniel noted, "If it ends up being a three-way tie, who's our main target?"

"It's obvious to me," Alina admitted, "Veronica has to be our target."

"Veronica has been a threat for a long time. She's been the leader of the majority alliance since the merge and she's capable of winning any kind of challenge. Now that she doesn't have immunity, this is our best chance to ensure her elimination."- Alina

"We all know what she's capable of," Alina noted, "If we don't vote her out now, she could win immunity all the way to the finale."

"I don't know," Karlie admitted, "I think we should take a shot at Zeyad."

"Can I ask something?" Callie asked, not actually looking for permission, "Is Zeyad more threatening than Veronica?"

"I think he is," Karlie admitted, "We don't know what he's thinking about. We at least know what Veronica is gonna do."

"Zeyad isn't going to win immunity anytime soon," Alina noted, "He only won a challenge because Dallas was there to help him."

"Veronica only made it to the final round because Daniel helped her," Karlie insisted, "If we do whatever we can to ensure that she doesn't win the next one, she won't."

"Karlie, as much as I want to vote with you, I think it's too risky to keep Veronica here," Daniel claimed, "We might not get another chance to do this."

"Ugh...if you say so," Karlie conceded, "We'll split our votes, and get rid of Veronica on the re-vote. Deal?"

"Deal," Alina agreed.

"Deal," Callie repeated.

"Deal," Daniel replied, nodding in assurance.

"Good; now if you don't mind, I'm gonna go get a snack," Karlie declared semi-irritatingly as she walked towards the front door, "All this talking makes me hungry."

"Sure, I sounded mad, but it was all part of the plan. I've done my job, and Daniel's gonna do his. Let's hope it works."- Karlie

"See ya," Daniel stated as he closed the front door after Karlie left.

"She sounded pretty mad," Callie noted.

"Yeah, that's true," Daniel agreed as he returned to his seat on the couch, "She's not good at hiding that."

"Daniel, do you think she's actually with us?" Alina asked, a bit scared.

"There's no telling at this point," Daniel admitted, "She's not telling me much. What about you? You had a big talk with her last night, right?"

"Yeah; I confronted her about trying to target me and she denied it," Alina revealed, "I guess she's just trying to lie her way out of this."

"It's clear that out of everyone in our 'alliance', Karlie is the most untrustworthy. We can never know if she's gonna side with us or flip on us. It's a scary feeling."- Alina

"Do you think she's going to flip?" Callie asked, concerned.

"I don't she why she wouldn't," Daniel admitted, "If she flips, the vote will be 3-2-1, and one of you two will be voted out. Probably Callie."

"Not unless the three of us vote for Veronica," Alina suggested.

"But Veronica could have an invincibility statue; and if she doesn't, we're in a marshmallow tiebreaker situation," Daniel pointed out, "Callie, you still have an invincibility statue, right?"

"Yeah, I do," Callie confirmed, "Thank you sooo much for that by the way."

"Don't worry about it," Daniel assured, "Do you think you should use it?"

"I mean, do you think we're in danger?" Callie asked, worried, "I mean, I can only use it once."

"The statue expires after the final five elimination ceremony," Daniel pointed out, "So you either use it tonight or next episode."

"It might be time for you to use it," Alina noted, "Just in case."

"All I know is that if I was in your spot, I'd use it," Daniel claimed.

"Karlie & I made our own plan for tonight: Karlie storms off to put doubt in Callie & Alina's heads, I remind them of Callie's invincibility statue, Callie goes to play her invincibility statue, while Karlie & I stay loyal and vote out either Veronica or Zeyad. Hopefully it works."- Daniel

"I have two invincibility statues, so I could use one tonight and one during the next episode, which guarantees me a spot in the final four. But it's not that simple. You see, Karlie's a smart girl; she wouldn't flip unless she was sure that she could split up Alina & I. But in order to do that, she would have to have Daniel on her side as well. If Daniel is also lying to me and is siding with Karlie, Veronica, & Zeyad, it doesn't matter if I use the invincibility statue on myself; Alina still gets voted out. Aw...this is a really bad spot..."- Callie

--------

Being tasked with making a tough decision was a pretty bad spot to be in. All the eyes would be on you, and the decision that you make could be the difference between succeeding and failing in your endeavours. For Karlie, she didn't feel burdened with having to make a tough decision, because she wholeheartedly felt that she was making the right choice. Even though she was discussing a plan with Veronica & Zeyad in the Mess Hall, she had no doubt in her mind that she needed to betray them. Of course, she didn't need them to know that.

"It's going to happen tonight," Karlie assured, "Either Callie or Alina is out of here."

"I feel like we've had this chat before," Zeyad noted, stating the obvious.

"The difference is that there's literally no choice," Karlie claimed, "It would be stupid to not split up the two of them."

"At this point, lying is all natural to me. As long as Veronica & Zeyad believe me, and Daniel manages to make Callie paranoid enough to play her invincibility statue, my plan will have worked."- Karlie

"Callie still has her invincibility statue," Karlie noted, "So if we don't try to get one of them out, she's guaranteed a spot in the final four."

"Which isn't good for us," Veronica concluded, "We gotta get it done tonight."

"Are we sure that Daniel is on board for this?" Zeyad asked, "He's pretty loyal to Callie."

"He's loyal, but he's not dumb; he knows that it's dangerous to leave the two of them in the game with an invincibility statue," Karlie noted truthfully, "He's on our side."

"Well, we're splitting the votes, right?" Zeyad asked rhetorically, "All we need to do is figure out how we're splitting the votes and who we're targeting."

"How about Zeyad & Daniel vote for Callie, while Veronica & I vote for Alina?" Karlie proposed.

"That's fine, as long as we target Callie," Veronica insisted.

"I'm good all the way with that," Zeyad assured, "She needs to go."

"Callie is a lot more dangerous than I thought she'd be; I'm almost scared of her. I tried to vote her out in the past, and it didn't work; this might be the last chance for me to do it. We either get her out tonight, or she plays her invincibility statue and we get her out next time. Either way, she's not making it to the final four."- Zeyad

"Can we all agree on this plan?" Veronica asked, "If this doesn't work, we're goners."

"It'll work," Karlie assured, "Daniel has the two of them in the mini-mansion and he's convincing them that they're safe."

"Well, you gotta go and tell Daniel the plan," Zeyad ushered, "Chris is gonna call on us soon."

"I'm on it," Karlie agreed as she got up from her seat and ran towards the door, "Don't worry, we've got this!"

"Thanks!" Veronica replied as Karlie ran out of the door, "F*ck me..."

"I know; it's stressful," Zeyad agreed, "But I think that things will work out...for once."

"Do you really think that?" Veronica asked, curious, "Or are you just trying to be positive?"

"I have faith in Karlie," Zeyad admitted, "I really do."

"Karlie & I made a final two deal and I'm willing to stay loyal to that; I don't care if she screws over everyone else as long as she's loyal to me. I mean, she has to be loyal to somebody, and why shouldn't it be me? Compared to everyone else, I'm not a threat, so she shouldn't have to worry about not being able to beat me in the final two."- Zeyad

"I know it's crazy, but Karlie is only untrustworthy because she always makes the moves that are the best for her," Zeyad claimed, "Anyone can see that splitting up Callie & Alina is the right decision."

"What about Daniel?" Veronica asked, "Do you really trust him?"

"I don't, but we don't have a choice," Zeyad admitted, "He has immunity, so we have to trust him."

"I've just got a bad feeling about tonight..." Veronica admitted, "I need to do something."

"Where are you going?" Zeyad asked as Veronica got up from her seat.

"I'm gonna have a talk with Daniel," Veronica declared.

"Daniel and I haven't always been on good terms while at Camp Wawanakwa. We're besties back home, but we're pretty rocky right now. There's always some sort of rift between us because we keep wanting to get each other out. If Daniel is the deciding vote, I don't think I'm staying. So I need to make a move. And fast."- Veronica

--------

Veronica had every right to be afraid; she had a target on her back that she had no hope of washing off. She won two post-merge challenges, was the leader of several alliances, and is generally a likable camper; all of which are threatening qualities. If she wanted to stay in the game, she had to find someone who had a bit of power. Believing that Daniel had a big part in that night's vote, she raced to find him, and was elated when she saw him walking out of the mini-mansion.

"Hey!" Veronica called out as she ran up to Daniel, "We need to talk."

"Alright, I guess we ca-" Daniel began before Veronica pulled him behind the communal washrooms, "Okay, calm down. What's wrong?"

"Daniel, I need you to work with me," Veronica insisted, "I need your help."

"Look, just calm down, okay?" Daniel requested, a little confused, "What's this all about?"

"I'm really worried," Veronica admitted, "I lost my two closest allies during the past two eliminations; I really think that I'm next."

"Okay, let's try something else," Daniel remarked, aware that he couldn't calm her down, "How do you want me to help?"

"I want to explain something to you," Veronica declared, "You're in more danger than you think."

"My strategy going into this talk is to convince Daniel that he's a bigger threat than he actually is. And in order for him to make it further in the game, he needs me on his side. Hopefully he believes it."- Veronica

"I don't know for sure if I'm going home tonight, but I wouldn't put it past anyone," Veronica admitted, "Once I'm gone, Callie probably goes next, which leaves you as the biggest threat left in the game."

"I'm already a big threat," Daniel noted, "If I didn't win immunity, I could've been voted out tonight."

"Stop being humble; you know that you're the swing vote," Veronica pointed out, "I just want to say that if I'm still here after tonight, I'm still the person that people want out, which buys you another day of safety."

"I get that Veronica is just trying to stay in the game; that's what makes her a dangerous player. She knows when she's on the chopping block and she's not going to give up without a fight. But if she's going to stay in the game, I'm going to make sure that she's loyal to me, and me alone."- Daniel

"Look, I'm gonna cut the BS: unless you have an invincibility statue, you're getting voted out tonight," Daniel revealed, "There's nothing that I can do."

"Knew it..." Veronica admitted, sighing, "Did Karlie even tell you the plan that she made with Zeyad & I?"

"She didn't tell me anything," Daniel admitted bluntly, "She came up with a plan to make Callie think she's being voted out so she plays her invincibility statue, while we split votes between you and Zeyad."

At that moment, Veronica felt completely defeated. She leaned her back against the brick wall of the communal washrooms and slid down to a seated position on the floor. Feeling as if she had no way out, Veronica began tearing up, eventually breaking out into a waterfall of sadness. After all the time that she spent in power, she was finally being knocked out; as if she was a queen being overthrown by the citizens of her kingdom."

"I.....I worked so hard..." Veronica muttered in between gasps of sadness, "It's over..."

"C'mon, don't cry," Daniel insisted as he sat down next to Veronica, "It's not over."

"How?!" Veronica exclaimed, "I can't do anything! Like you said; I'm going home if I don't have a damn statue, and I don't!"

"Come here," Daniel requested as he pulled Veronica into a side hug, "You're one of the best campers of the past two seasons; the fans know you as 'The Queen'. Are you going to throw it all away just because the future looks bleak?"

"Attention campers!" Chris called out through the loudspeakers, "You have five minutes until the elimination ceremony starts!"

"What do you want me to do?" Veronica asked as she leaned her head on Daniel's right shoulder, "I'm not in power; what's a queen without any power?"

"You wanna know what a queen is without any power? A queen," Daniel answered confidently, "You don't need help; you can make moves on your own. And there's still one more thing that you can do."

"Forget about the game for a second; Veronica is a close friend of mine. Even though we've only known each other for two years, I honestly feel close to her, and I don't want to see her in pain. She's played a really good game and I know that she's devastated that her game might end tonight. But if she's the Veronica that I truly know, this isn't the end of her, and I'll be waiting to see how tonight plays out."- Daniel

--------

Within five minutes, the six remaining campers were present in the campfire area, sitting nervously on the wooden stumps. Not only were the campers silent, they didn't even want to look at each other. While some would say that they didn't want to give any tells about what their plans were, some would say that they didn't want to look at someone and pretend that everything was fine. In the end, someone was getting voted out, and they didn't want to have to lie to someone all the way to their last second on the island.

"Well campers, it's time for another elimination ceremony," Chris declared, "Daniel has immunity, but the rest of you are still in danger. You know how it works: you'll enter the Confession Can one by one, x-out the photo of the camper that you want to vote for, I'll check & tally the votes, and then I'll hand out marshmallows to those who are safe. Whoever doesn't receive a marshmallow will be forced to walk down the Dock of Shame and leave the island on the Jet Ski of Losers. Go vote!"

--------

"You've played a great game this season; you should be proud."- Callie

"I respect you as a player, but it's too dangerous to keep you around."- Alina

"You're a tough competitor, and it's time for you to meet your match."- Zeyad

"You shouldn't have turned your back on me dude; you dug your own grave."- Karlie

"I'm sorry, but I'm just trying to make it one more day."- Veronica

"If my predictions are correct, this vote will actually mean something."- Daniel

--------

"Alright campers," Chris began as he held up a plate of marshmallows, "I've tallied the votes, and-"

"Chris!" Callie interrupted as she stood up from her seat, "I'm going to do this because I don't feel 100% safe."

With that, Callie walked towards Chris and pulled out her invincibility statue, clearly going to play it for herself. None of the other campers were surprised by this; they all knew that Callie had an invincibility statue. Daniel & Karlie were elated; they managed to get Callie to play her invincibility statue when she supposedly didn't need to. But their elation was about to turn into shock and awe.

"I'm going to play this one on myself," Callie declared as she handed Chris a statue before pulling out another one from inside her hoodie, "And I'm also going to play this one, and I'll use it on Alina."

That move caught everyone by surprise. While they all knew that Callie had one statue, the thought that she had a second one crossed none of their minds. On top of that, she willingly gave up a guaranteed spot in the final four in order to save her best friend and closest ally. They all stared as Callie made her way back to her seat, shocked and amazed at what just went down.

"Oh my God!" Alina exclaimed as she went to hug her best friend, "Thank you so much!"

"No problem, bestie," Callie replied, reciprocating the hug.

"That was weird," Karlie commented before turning to face Daniel, "Did you know that she had a second statue?"

"Nope," Daniel answered, shaking his head whilst chuckling, "Not a clue."

"Well, it looks like Callie made Total Drama history by becoming the first camper to play two invincibility statues during a single elimination ceremony," Chris revealed, "But sadly, neither statue nullified the plurality of the votes."

"Aw..." Callie muttered, still hugging Alina, "Oh well; better safe than sorry."

"Let's get back to business," Chris declared as he held up several marshmallows, "Callie, Alina, Daniel, and Karlie are all safe. The ones in danger tonight are Veronica & Zeyad."

Veronica and Zeyad sat in fear as the other four campers caught their marshmallows. Veronica was petrified, wiping the dried up tears away from her eyes; she knew that she had a high chance of being voted out, and was worried that her time was up. Zeyad was shocked, but more disappointed in the fact that he was still being targeted when there were bigger targets still in the game.

"And by a 3-2 vote, the camper voted out is........Zeyad!" Chris revealed as he tossed Veronica the final marshmallow, "Sorry dude."

"What?!" Zeyad exclaimed as he stood up from his seat and faced the other campers, "How?!"

"I don't know; we weren't even trying to vote you out!" Karlie admitted honestly.

"Who switched their vote?" Zeyad asked, astonished.

"I'm....I'm sorry..." Veronica apologized as she stood up and pulled Zeyad into a hug, "I knew that the votes were between us and I didn't want to get voted out....I'm sorry..."

"Y'know what? It's fine," Zeyad insisted as he reciprocated the hug, "Good move."

"You're not pissed off?" Karlie asked, confused.

"I can't be," Zeyad claimed as he disengaged from the hug, "I'm not gonna be bitter or anything like that. Good job to you all."

"Thank you," Callie thanked as she shook Zeyad's right hand.

"This is....unexpected," Alina admitted as Zeyad switched to shake her hand.

"I like this Zeyad," Daniel commented.

"I do too," Zeyad agreed, smiling, "Not gonna complain this time."

"Look, if you guys aren't gonna argue, can we just kick him off the island already?" Chris requested, annoyed.

"Fine, let's go," Zeyad conceded as he began to leave the campfire area.

--------

Zeyad took his fourth trip down the Dock of Shame confidently and happily. Sure, he was a little upset that he was voted out so close to the end, but he didn't want to fight back knowing that there was nothing he could do to change the results. He accepted his fate and took the elimination gracefully, and that left him happier than he had ever been while on the island.

"Can't you just give me one more screaming rant before we send you off?" Chris pleaded.

"Not this time, Chris," Zeyad insisted, "Not gonna happ-"

With that, Chris launched Zeyad away from the island and returned to the other campers, who were patiently standing on the beach. While he admired Zeyad's change in attitude, he knew that it wouldn't bring in any more viewers than they already had. Thus, he turned his focus to the remaining five campers: five campers who he knew were going to give the viewers a great show in the final episodes of the season.

"Alright campers, we're down to the final five," Chris noted, stating the obvious, "No one will be going to Boney Island for the rest of the season, but Daniel still has the right to pick someone to join him in the mini-mansion."

"I've been thinking about this for a bit," Daniel prefaced, "I'm going to invite Veronica to join me in the mini-mansion."

'"Really?!" Veronica exclaimed as she ran to hug him, "Thank you!"

"Don't worry about it," Daniel assured, smiling.

"This past day has been a rollercoaster of emotions for me. And when I think that I have everyone pegged, someone like Daniel comes along to surprise me. Maybe my game isn't dead after all. Maybe the queen will stay queen." *winks*- Veronica

"That's weird....why would Daniel not invite me into the mini-mansion when we're supposed to be each other's closest allies? Something's not right about this, and I'm going to figure out what that is."- Karlie

With that, Chris let the remaining campers return to their lodgings while he stood and thought about the events of the last episode. Compared to the episodes before it, it wasn't as impactful or interesting, but it wasn't lackluster by any means. If anything, it set up the season for its end game: all of the remaining campers each forged their own path to the final five, leaving no doubt in Chris' mind over how hard they'd be fighting for the million dollar prize.

"It's rare to see someone happy after being blindsided, but hey, I get paid either way," Chris noted as he talked to the main camera, "How will Zeyad's blindside affect the game? Will Daniel's choice to invite Veronica come back to haunt him? And who will be voted out next? Find out next time, right here, on Total...Drama...Double Trouble!"

--------

Final Words:

"I really thought that I'd be more upset about this, but I'm not. I guess it was my time. I was at the bottom of every team in the game, and once Spencer was voted out, I thought that I was a goner. But I defied the odds and made it all the way to the final six. I had my highs, and I had my lows, but I'm still happy that I came back this season. This season was special to me because I was actually able to make moves and hold a bit of power. I tried my best and everyone else just got the best of me. Congrats to the final five, because I know that whichever one of them wins the game will deserve it."- Zeyad
