Sucky outdoors

"Oh I'm so late, I'm so late!" I screech out as I run out of my cabin to meet with the campers and Chris at the campfire. I had to lay low from Heather and stay in my cabin in case she tried to do something to me if I stayed in the girl's cabin.

I had to oversleep!

I hastily put on my plaid shirt over my white one, jumping around and shoving my feet into sneakers as I wore tights.

"Sorry I'm late-" I huff out, seeing the campfire empty and I groan, taking my phone out from my backpack.

"Where are you (y/n)!?" Chris yells and I pull my phone away from my ear.

"I overslept! I'm sorry! Where are the campers?"

"Come get some food first and I'll send you off to them."

"Ok, ok. I'm coming." I jog over to Chris' camera station where he was viewing the footage of everyone at the moment.

"Here, breakfast is the most important meal of the day." Chef hands me a plate of food and I smile at him.

"Thanks Chef!" he grins happily before walking off and I head to Chris while eating.

"So what's up?" I mutter and he jumps in fright.

"Do not! Sneak up on me like that!" I snicker and watch the campers setting up their tents, Chris handing me my cup of tea for the morning.

"Thank you." I yawn out, sipping my tea.

"As soon as you finish, Chef will drive you to the campers. He needs to drop off and deliver some pizza the camera crew ordered."

"What's this challenge about?"

"Seeing if these campers have what it takes to survive outdoors, the bears, yetis." Chris snickers.

"You're enjoying this aren't you?" I raise a brow and Chris nods.

"(y/n)!" Chef calls out to me and I run out to jump in the golf cart.

"Let's go!" I whoop as Chef slams down on the accelerator and I hear Chris yelling at us to drive slower but Chef speeds up. "Ok Chef! Slow down man! I don't want to fly off!" I shriek as he suddenly stops at the Killer Bass camp and I fly out. "Shit!" I scream out and I close my eyes, expecting to be in pain but I feel something soft and a groan of pain beneath me.

"I knew girls fall for me but this is a first." I open my eyes and see that it was Duncan groaning in pain and I blush as I realise I was straddling him. He held my hips, my arms on his chest as our faces were inches away. He smirks up at me, brushing my hair away from my face.

"I think I heard Chris back at camp when I landed on Duncan. Like him yelling at me to get off." I shudder, scratching my head.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Sorry!" I quickly climb off Duncan, helping him up as he rubbed his head. "Are you ok?"
"Peachy." Duncan mutters out and I chuckle as he mimicked me.
"How come you got here late?" Bridgette asks.
"I overslept today."
"Of course you did." Duncan chuckles and raises a brow as he peers past me. "Where's Chef?"
"What do you mean-" I turn around and see the golf cart is gone. "Meh he'll be back." I shrug and sit down by he campfire, letting the others build up their tent since it was part of the challenge. Geoff tried to make moves on Bridgette but was failing hard.
"What's for dinner woman. I'm starving."
"I hope you don't expect me to dignify that with a response." Courtney glares at Duncan as he just smirks, messing with her.
"If you're hungry, why don't you go out an scavenge. That's all that men is useful for right?" I snicker and the everyone else hoots in laughter at the comeback.
"Good one sweetheart. I'm rubbing off on ya."
"Boi, I've been this fantastic way before I met you. You could say I'm rubbing off on you."
"Hey guys! Look what I found!" I look over at DJ and awing at the cute bunny in his arms.
"Well I've never had rabbit stew before but what the hell, I'm game."
"This is my new pet! I'm calling him Bunny!" DJ scoffs and Courtney sighs in realisation that they had to eat grubs and berries. DJ sits next to me and I coo at the tiny animal.
"He's so adorable!"
"Here." DJ sets Bunny in my lap and he nuzzles against me as I pet him gently.
"Omg omg omg omg." I was lowkey freaking out at the cuteness. "Hey there sweetie." The bunny sniffs my finger and licks it, going to sleep in my lap.
"Bunny loves you!" DJ looked like he had hearts in his eyes as I carefully set his pet back in his lap. Duncan sits down next to me on my other side as he starts the fire and everyone else joins seeing as there wasn't anything else to do.
"Does anyone have any scary stories they can tell. I'm in the mood for one." I grin, eager for some fright and Duncan smirks.
"I've got one if you're ready to hear it."
"Yes! Tell it!" I exclaim, all excited.
"Are you sure? Cause the story I'm thinking of is pretty hardcore."
"Please! I need a story to freak out my friends back home."
"Alright, but don't say I didn't warn you." I get ready to hear the story. "One night, a lot like this one."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was huddled as I held my backpack for protection, DJ clinging onto me from fear as Duncan told us his story. I was shaking and looking around the woods absolutely terrified.
I'm not getting any sleep tonight...
"And then suddenly, they heard this tap tap tapping on the side of the car. The girl was getting freaked out and even at this point the guy was getting scared." Duncan was standing in front of us telling us the story and I was waiting for the jump scare. "They say that this killer is still alive, wondering these very woods. He could just about be anywhere really... even right here!" I scream from the jump scare as Duncan yells out, bringing out the hook he so magically has.
"Oh my poor heart feels like it's going to stop." I breathe out as DJ pats my back while Duncan laughs and sits down next to me. "That was a good story, my god. Did you always have a hook on you?"
"A horror storyteller never reveals his secrets." I chuckle and roll my eyes.
"Oh wow really-" I hear something in the woods and I get freaked out, jumping. I feel arms hold me and I look up to see Duncan pulling me to his chest.
"Don't worry. I'll protect you." I blush as he pulls me tight.
"We should head to sleep now." Bridgette says and everyone nods.
"Chef is supposed to come get me by now. Where is he?" I mumble, taking out my phone to call him. "Yo Chef, where you at man?"
"I got lost! I don't know where the hell I am in the woods!" I wince as I hear him scream.
"Don't you have a GPS or something?" Chef screams out no and I sigh. "Uh call Chris. He should help you."
"Good idea! You stay with the campers!" Chef ends the call and I shrug.
"So does that mean you're staying with us?" Harold asks and I nod.
"Yeah if that's cool with you guys." Everyone was ok with it and we all get into the tent. I lay down on my back, yawning and stretching out as I used my backpack as a pillow. Duncan lays down next to me, eyes closed but I was too freaked out to sleep. I sigh softly, rubbing my face and I hear movement next to me.
It was Duncan as he leaned up on his forearms to face me. "Hey (y/n). I'm sorry about yesterday morning." He whispers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"I had to make things right between us." Duncan shrugs, his ears turning pink.

"Kinda felt like it would be my only chance."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Did I hear him right!?
Did Duncan just apologise!?
I blink at Duncan in surprise, blank on what to say at the moment. "Oh! It's ok-"
"-It's not. I went too far. I'm sorry." Duncan mumbles softly and I turn to face him.
"Hey it's ok. It was just uh... surprising..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Ok, I have to admit, I didn't know what to say without the others guessing what was happening. Why didn't we talk about this outside without people eavesdropping?" I sigh out, facepalming.

"But I was actually touched that Duncan apologised. I mean, like very surprised. He's a good guy I guess." I shrug, smiling at the camera.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"So we're cool?" Duncan asks and I nod, grinning.
"We're cool." I get ready to go to sleep when a crazy shadow was roaming around outside the tent and everyone starts screaming. "What-" next thing we know, the tent burns down and we see Bridgette outside waving sheepishly.
Courtney goes off at Bridgette about not having any place to sleep and Duncan shuts her up. "Yo drama queen, relax. It's cool."
"Cool!? It's cool!? Things could not possibly get worse!"
"Don't fucking jinx it!" I yell out until I feel something wet drop on my nose. "Great." I quickly take out my big umbrella I packed in my bag and hold it above the others as it starts pouring like crazy. "You guys are so lucky I'm always prepared." I mumble in annoyance, letting DJ hold the umbrella over us as we huddled close.
I get pulled into Duncan's lap and he holds me, trying to stop my shivering. "How do you get cold so quickly?"
"I'm a summer baby. Can't handle the cold besides the heat." I chatter out from the cold as I hugged him tightly.
"Thanks for the umbrella by the way." Duncan mumbles into my hair, rubbing my back and slowly lulling me to sleep.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hum softly, feeling some smooth down my hair and I snuggle into the warmth. I feel someone chuckle and I slowly open my eyes to see it was the next morning and that it wasn't raining anymore.
"Morning sweetheart." I freeze when I hear someone beneath me and I see Duncan relaxing with an arm behind his head and the other around my waist.
Well shit.
I blush as Duncan opens his eyes, smirking at me as he held my hips. "Uh morning?"
"You two seriously need to stop or go get a room." Courtney rolls her eyes at us.
"We're in the woods, where are we supposed to go-" I gasp and everyone chuckles at what I just said.
"Oh, so you were expecting some alone time with me huh sweetheart?" Duncan grins and I face him.
"No! That's not what I meant-" I try to get off Duncan and he lets me go, standing up straight and holding an arm out for me. I grab it and shriek as he pulls me to his chest.
"You know, if you had a thing for me, I would be honoured." Duncan grins as he holds my waist tight and I cross my arms, looking away.
"You wish."
"You'll admit it one day sweetheart-"
"-can you two drop it with the sickening lovefest! We need to move!" Courtney yell's out and Duncan lets me go. I quickly pack up my stuff and put on my bag before he grabbed my hand and we bolted for the campfire.
I couldn't help the smile on my face as Duncan held my hand, not realising we made it back to camp. "(Y/n) thank god you're safe!" I squeal as I get pulled into Chris' arms as he hugged me tightly.
"I. Can't. Breathe!" I wheeze out and he lets me go, checking for any wounds on me as the campers watch in horror that Chris was showing affection other than cruelty.
"Your mother would hang me if you were hurt!" He shakes me by my shoulders and I swat his hands off.
"I'm fine-"
"-did they do anything!? Did they make you do peasant stuff-"
"-Chris I'm fine!" I shut him up and he sighs in relief.
"Gophers won the tuck shop and the Bass lost. Get out of my sight." Chris yells out and everyone scatters in fear. "Did Duncan do anything? I'll personally kick him off the show if he did-"
"-Chris breathe." He does what I ask and relaxes. "I'm here and I'm totally fine. I'm just fucking hungry."
"Let's get you breakfast."
