"You've got to be shitting me right now." I hiss out as I see the disaster of a location that my boat is heading towards, fully regretting the choice to listen to my mum on this stupid TV show.
I had to agree with her.
I groan out, face palming as I hear the annoying voice of Chris McLean. "And here comes the beauty of the show that doesn't really care about the world, (y/f/n)!"
"Wow Chris, what a nice intro." I mumble out as I walk down the plank with my luggage trailing behind me once the boat stopped at the dock.
"Only the best for you." He winks and I roll my eyes, looking over to see some of the cast already, just standing idly by on the dock. I walk down the dock to stand with the cast, arms crossed as I wait for the others to arrive. I look around and notice the prison kid with the green mohawk staring at me.
That must be Duncan.
He smirks at me but I ignore the dude as some other Tyler guy comes it water skiing. "Oh shit." I wince as he crashes into the edge of the dock and goes flying in the sky, landing in the pile of luggage on the other end of the dock.
"Oh! My shoes!" Heather screeches out as she was soaking wet from a random suitcase dropping in the lake and splashing her.
"Wicked wipeout man!" Chris snorts out but freezes when he hears someone breathing heavily next to him. "Welcome to camp Harold." Harold just stares at the camp then back at Chris.
"What's he looking at?" Beth asks and everyone shrugs. Harold then asks if the show is at this run down camp and celebrates about his skills or something like that. I wasn't listening.
Chris winces but grins once he sees the next camper get off the boat. "Camper number 10, is Trent."
"Hey, good to meet you man." I sigh out and sit down on my luggage, groaning when I realise I got no service on my phone.
"This gets better and better..." I mumble out. "This is going to be so boring..."
"I can make your stay more worthwhile." I jump slightly and look up to see Duncan leaning on a post while grinning down at me. "That is, if you're up for it." He plays with his switchblade and I roll my eyes.
"Yeah no. I'm not that kind of girl."
"What kind of girl are you then sweetheart?" Duncan raises a brow at me and I sigh out.
"Buzz off man. It's too early for this shit. I just want to sleep." I hear him chuckle and goes to pester someone else as I plug in my headphones to drown myself in music to keep myself awake.
I don't know how much time had gone but I feel someone nudge me awake and I jolt up. "What." I hiss out and Beth flinches back slightly. "Fuck, I'm sorry for scaring you! I'm just tired."
"No it's fine!" She smiles sweetly at me and nods to the group taking photos. "We are taking promo pics! Come join us!"
"Uh no. I'm good thanks." Beth pouts but shrugs and walks off to get the pictures taken. I take my luggage and walk off to the cabins when I suddenly hear loud creaking and sudden screams. I turn around and gasp as the cast had fallen into the water. "Jesus christ Chris! You could've tried to make this place safer!"
Chris laughs as I run to the edge of the beach and help people out of the water. "Nah, this is a reality game show (y/n). What better way than to have the contestants fight against the elements of nature!" Chris walks off, yelling over his shoulder for everyone to get dried off and get to the campsite in 10 minutes.
"He's an absolute ass." I mutter out as I help Gwen and Bridgette, both of them giggling at my remark.
"That I can agree with you." Bridgette says as she tries to shake the water loose.
"It's already the first day and we're dumped into the cold." Gwen sighs out, shivering slightly.
"Let's get you guys to the cabins." I lead them both to the cabins and hand them a towel each.
"Thank you so much (y/n)!" Bridgette grins out.
"Yeah, thanks." Gwen smiles and I nod, saluting them before heading to the campsite.
You've got to be kidding me...
I sigh out as I see Duncan chilling by himself, carving something into the log he was sitting on. "Well, well, well. Nice of you to join me sweetheart." I sat down far away from him, plugging in my headphones. "I see the princess is terrified of the big bad wolf huh?" I glance up to see Duncan smirking at me and I quickly look away.
It wasn't that I was terrified, I just didn't know what to say. I'm not great at socialising.
Everyone finally joined us at the campsite, taking up the remaining seats. "This is camp Wawanakwa. Your home for the next 8 weeks! The campers sitting around you will be your cabin mates, your competition, and maybe even your friends. You dig?" I take my headphones out to actually listen to Chris. "The camper who manages to stay on Total Drama Island the longest without getting voted off for the challenges that occur every 3rd day, will win $100,000."
"$100,000 is not a lot of cash Chris but figures since you're just starting off huh." I smirk as Chris glares at me.
"That is a lot of money. Like billions!" Lindsay exclaims and I just stare at her.
She didn't just say that right?
She can't have that many loose screws in her head right?
"Why are you here if that's not enough cash huh?" Courtney says sarcastically and I just shrug at her question.
"Why not earn more money besides working. Easy to save up right? I'm sure you understand, unless you're jobless." I quip back and Courtney fumes.
"Of course I have a job-"
"-excuse me, what will the sleeping arrangements be, because I'd like to request a bunk under her?" Duncan asks, pointing towards Heather and cutting Courtney off.
"You're a sleazy mother fucker aren't you." I groan out and Chris narrows his eyes at me.
"Language (y/n)!"
"Jeez whatever."
"And to answer your question, no. Girls get one side of each cabin and the dudes get the other." The others make comments about the arrangements until Chris stops them to tell them about teams. "Heres the deal. We're gonna split you into 2 teams. If I call out your name, go stand over there."
Chris starts calling out the names of the first team for Screaming Gophers which included Gwen, Trent, Heather, Cody, Lindsay, Beth, Katie, Owen, Leshawna, Justin and Noah.
"The rest of you over here."
The next group for Killer Bass consisted of Geoff, Bridgette, DJ, Tyler, Sadie, Izzy, Courtney, Ezekial, Duncan, Eva and Harold.
"(y/n), you're with the Killer Bass team-"
"-that's unfair, they have an extra person on their team." Beth calls out and I simply walk over to the group.
"This group just got better with you in it." Duncan calls out and I sigh in defeat.
"Is calling out at girls a hobby of yours?"
"Only for the pretty ones." Duncan winks at me and I turn to face Chris.
"All right campers, you and your team will be on camera in all public areas during this competition."
"Chris, for the love of god, please tell me we have some sort of privacy in the bathrooms?" I groan out and Chris just laughs.
"Nope! Everyone will know your innermost thoughts and secrets on tapes and video diaries which you can make any time you want.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I have so many regrets right now." I sigh out as I face the camera in the outhouse. "Like so many regrets."
My eye twitches at the number of flies flying around and I take out my instant bug killer spray, so done with everything.
"These fucking flies." I hiss out, holding my breath as I spray an ungodly amount of spray in the expanse of the outhouse.
"As toxic as this is, I'm glad to see them drop dead." I wheeze, covering my nose and mouth. "I'm not getting insects or bugs bite me once."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"All right. Any questions? Cool." Chris oversteps anyone that had a chance to ask and goes straight to showing us where the casts cabins will be. "Gophers, you're in the east cabin, Bass, you're in the west." I go off with the others to go check out our rooms. "You've got half an hour to pack and meet me back at the main lodge starting now." Chris runs off leaving me with these naive children until there was a sudden shrill scream.
Everyone shudders and runs to the cabin where the scream was coming from to see Lindsay standing on a stool. "Oh man that white girl can scream." I snicker as Lindsay begs someone to kill the cockroach. DJ suddenly lets out a shrill scream as well and jumps on the bunk beds and I sigh out.
"It's just a cockroach." I walk towards it and stomp my boot down on the bug. Everyone winces at the squish sound and I hop back out to wipe my feet against the grass.
"You could've done something else other than spraying its guts on our floor." Heather rolls her out at me and I shrug.
"We're out in nature, expect things like this. You're not in the city anymore." She huffs at me and walks away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Like I said, the whole cast is just a bunch of naive little kids. Couldn't even kill a single cockroach."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I look up and jump seeing Duncan holding an axe in front of me. "Dang, missed my chance on using this."
"An axe? Really? Overkill much?" I sigh out as Duncan shrugs and walks off while I go back to unpack my luggage and set up my bottom bunk. I got the whole bottom and top bunk to myself but I preferred the bottom cause I'm not eager of rolling out of bed and falling from the top. I change the pillow, bed sheets and blankets with my own that I brought from home before heading over to the main lodge.
I'm not risking whatever disease is laced in those old cabin sheets.
I shove my hands into my cardigan pockets, wandering straight into the kitchen since I was the only one in here. "Fuck no. I'm not eating anything that's cooked from here." I gag, seeing how disgusting the kitchen was.
Who nuclear bomb blasted this place in trash!?
The back door opens and comes in a random intern with a clipboard. "Hey, uh do you mind getting a team to clean this place up please." The intern blinks at me but nods and walks away. I leave the kitchen to see Chef leading the group of campers into the lodge while serving up suspicious sloppy joe.
Good thing I ate before coming here...
"Listen up! I serve it 3 times a day and you will eat it 3 times a day!" Chef starts yelling at us to grab a tray and line up.
"Yeah no." I mumble out and sit my ass down on a seat, taking my phone out to text my friends.
"This seat taken?" I look up and see Leshawna and I quickly shake my head.
"Nah you can take it." She smiles and sits down poking at the food in her tray.
"Girl you ain't eating?" Leshawna asks and I shake my head.
"God no. I ain't touching Chefs food. I think I saw it move or something."
"You can't starve yourself the entire 8 weeks!" Gwen exclaims.
"Keep this a secret, but I packed luggage's full of food. We're good for the 8 weeks." Bridgette, Gwen and Leshawna hi-five me.
"You're an actual life saviour (y/n)." Bridgette sighs gratefully.
"Don't tell anyone." The girls quickly nod.
Chris soon walks in, welcoming everyone and Geoff asks if we could order pizza until a butchers knife goes flying across the room. "Whoa it's cool g! Brown slop is cool right guys!?"
"Your first challenge begins in 1 hour!"
"What do you think they'll make us do?" Katie asks and DJ shrugs.
"It's our first challenge. How hard can it be?"
