II

Sidney leaned on the counter, groaning. She was exhausted after last night. Fighting a criminal off has always exhausted her, but the two months of not doing any working out or superhero work what so ever took it's toll on her. Plus Sidney had stayed up all night trying to wrap her head around the mystery that was Laurel. And who the strange woman that greeted Mayor Johnson when I escorted him home. Normally his wife was waiting at the door, bitting her fingernails down to the nub.

"Yo, Sid, get your ass back to work!" Sidney jumped to attention looking over at her boss, Ciera who was working the register.

"Sorry C!" Sidney was awful at her job. Ciera had even told Sidney that she would have been fired if she wasn't so god damn funny. She detested it except for that she did enjoy Ciera's company as much as Ciera enjoyed hers. But she needed the money. After all she couldn't let Chris pay for everything.

"Hey! Look it's my two favorite girls." The bells over the door jingles as the familiar british accent exploded through the cafe. Speak of the devil, Sidney thought, glancing from the brewing coffee machine in front of her to the door. Chris was strolling up to the counter, Ciera had her little birdies flipped up at him.

Neither of them would admit it but the two had high sexual tension. Chris and Ciera had a love hate relationship, pretending to hate each other with a burning passion but both had admitted to Sidney that they liked each other.

"How are you, governor?" Ciera raised her eyebrows. She spoke in an awful, cockney accent that bothered the crap out of Chris.

"Large coffee, black." Chris snapped, setting his credit card down on the counter. Ciera swiped it then pocketed the plastic card. Chris just rolled his eyes, not bothering to fight with her.

"Chris, you and Mayor Johnson are still good friends right?" Sidney asked, pouring the fresh coffee into the large cup. She set it down in front of Chris.

"Yeah, Evan and I are still tight, why?" Chris picked up him coffee. He sipped it and then coughed. He shook his head. How did one mess up making a simple cup of normal plain old coffee.

"I think he's cheating on his wife."
