Leave Him

Chanyeol's POV-

"Taehyung, are you still there?" Hyuk asks calmly.

"Y-yes, I'm here..."

"We are in the parking lot of the company now. The plan is to have Chanyeol go in looking for Baekhyun and Kai. He's been here before so they shouldn't question him showing up.

"He's going to scope out the place and see if he can get up to your floor then see about getting you two out of there. If there's too many guards then I'll get their attention away from you so you three-"

Hyuk is quiet as he listens to what Taehyung says on the line. His eyes start to tear up before he takes a deep breath and blinks the tears away.

"How long ago?"

"... Okay. Chanyeol will be up any moment now okay. Just-..." He looks like he's about to let out a sob but holds himself together before he continues, "We'll be in touch."

He cuts the call as soon as he pulls the phone away from his ear before burying his head in his hands.

Yoongs and I share a look of shock before we look back at him.

We are pretty sure we know the answer to the question, and we aren't prepared to hear it, but we need to know if he's okay. If they're both okay.

I gulp down the bile that's threatening to come up my throat as I ask, "S-should I head in?"

Hyuk lifts his head, wiping his eyes quickly. "Yeah. They should be in room twelve twenty on the fifth floor. The code is zero-eight-zero-four-one-two. When you get there call me from the phone I gave to Taehyung. It's untraceable."

I nod, "And what about Jinyoung? Do we know how badly he's hurt. Do I need to find a first aid kid along the way?"

The pause after I finish speaking is deafening. As I look at the sadness in Hyuk's eyes I slowly start to realize that a first aid kit would be useless.

Yoongi lets out a small gasp in the passenger seat and I realize he must have just gotten the hint that Jinyoung is gone. He lets siddenly begins moving his hands around his jacket then to his pants neurotically.

I watch him with confusion, "Yoongs, what are you doing?"

"She needs to tell me what the fuck she said to Irene to make her want to kill him. This has to have something to do with their talk. What did she say to make her mad enough to do this to him?!" He has got his phone is his shaking hands but as he is attempting to dial his unsteadiness is causing him to struggle with typing on his screen.

Finally after he is able to get his hands steady enough to call, she doesn't answer. After a few failed attempts at getting through he gets more frustrated and throws the phone down by his feet before he brings his head between his knees and cries.

"Chanyeol, you'd better get in there and get Taehyung. Remember, room twelve twenty on the fifth floor."

I nod my head with glassy eyes before unbuckling my seatbelt. I turn to Yoongi and give him a soft, hopefully somewhat comforting, pat on the shoulder before I step out of the car to head inside.

Part one of the plan is for me to go in and try to get up to the room Hyuk has directed me to get to Tae, the second part is for me to see if I can get a head count on how many people are looking for Jinyoung.

If I get spotted or am seen going into that room, Hyuk said to try to get inside and lock it being me then call him from Tae's phone or if for some reason I can't get to the room at all to just abort the mission and we'll regroup in the car.

When I make it through the front doors, I'm greeted with the purple haired receptionist I see every time I come visit one of my friends, which is a great. She knows me and sees me often enough to know me by name.

Trying my absolute damndest to keep my voice and demeanor casual I ask if she knows where Kai is or if she has seen Baekhyun.

She smiles sweetly, not appearing to suspect anything out of the ordinary (which is also a good thing because Jungkook seems to spot my "sketchy" behavior from a mile away) and points to the elevator saying that Kai and a few of his friends are working in the gym on the sixth floor.

I let out a quiet sigh of relief, thanking her for her help, before making my way to the elevator.

The whole time I've been down here I've been trying to look for any security guard looking guys like the ones Irene had beat me up but I've only seen young, florescent haired trainees so far.

Once the elevator dings open, I take a step inside. Just as I am pressing the button for floor five, I hear someone call out to have the door held.

My mind flashes to when this exact scenario happened with Irene, so I am tempted to ignore the request but like a fucking idiot I find myself reflexively holding the door anyway.

When she comes into view, huffing as she tries to catch her breath before she steps into the elevator as she gives me a tight, courteous smile.

"Thank you so much. It's kind of an emergency and every second counts."

I scoff internally. An emergency? This girl has no idea what kind of emergency I have.

We're stood by each other in silence before I realize that she never pushed a button for a floor.

"Which floor?" I force a smile as I reach out towards the buttons, waiting to hear the one she needs so I can press it.

"I have to go the fifth floor."

I gulp but keep my eyes forward as I pull my hand away and stand up straight.

"The Fifth Floor." I repeat.

"Yes. The same floor it looks like you're heading up to. That's convenient." She mumbles.

I turn my face towards her, studying her expression. She's chewing her bottom lip and she looks worried. Not nervous, but genuinely worried. I don't have much to go off of, but I am good at reading people and I don't think she's part of the bad guys. I just have a feeling.

I still want to ask some questions though to see if I can figure out somehow if she is looking for a friend to help him or to finish the job Irene could have sent her to do.

"I'm here to help a friend." I say slowly.

She raises a brow, "I'm here to find my friend."

"Maybe... our friends are together." I say cautiously, studying her expression closely.

She's silent as she looks at me with skepticism. When she finally speaks she asks a surprising question.

"Is your friend in room twelve twenty?"

I have to try so hard to keep my eyes from popping out of my head in surprise and my jaw dropping in shock. I try to take a few breaths to calm down and keep my features relaxed as I say, "He is."

"Is your friend hurt?" She asks cautiously as the elevator dings before the doors open.

"He is trying to help someone who is."

Her bottom lip begins to tremble as her eyes begin to tear up. "Is Yong- Hyuk in there? Because if he is we need to hurry! They'll kill him as soon as he's seen."  She says as she begins to run up the hallway, presumably towards the room, as she glances over her shoulder anxiously past me and down the hall.

She stops abruptly near the end of the hall in front of a door. She lifts up a metal cover revealingly keeps, types in a code quickly before she pushes the door open.

Once inside she lets out a horrified gasp, lunging forward towards the floor.

Once I am in the doorway I see Tae sat on the floor holding Jinyoung in his arms as he rocks him back and forth.

His eyes are wide and teary. He looks like he is in shock as he stares aimlessly toward the wall.

As my eyes move down to Jinyoung I see just how bloody he is. Tae had blood on his clothing as well.

Still not moving his eyes to me or ceasing his rocking motions he asks in a broken voice, "W-what did Hyuk say. What do we do now?"

"O-oh, he told me to use the phone he gave you to call him."

He blinks a few times in attempt to focus a little better as he tells me that the phone is next to his left leg.

When I see the device, also covered in some noticeable blood splatters, I pick it up and open the contacts. I stare at the screen, looking at the two unsaved numbers wondering which to dial even he speaks again, voice barely above a whisper.

"His is the first number."

I select the number and press send immediately.

*RING* *RING*

"Chanyeol?"

"I'm in."

"Is he-"

"Taehyung is okay." I say shortly.

I know if I or he even mentions Jinyoung I am going to break down and I'm trying to hold it together. For myself and Tae's sake.

"Did you see any guards?"

"No but-"

Suddenly the girl speaks up softly, "Is that Yon- Hyuk?"

I nod to which she wipes her hands to get presumably blood off her palms before she gestures for the phone.

"S-someone wants to talk to you?" I mumble confusedly before I hand the phone to her.

"Yonjun?" She sniffles

Yonjun?

It's silents as she listens to what he has to say.

She chuckles while her tears still fall, "Of course I'd show up. You know I'm the better hacker between the two of us."

Her smile falls as she looks more serious.

"Are you sure you want to do that?" She sniffles as her bottom lip begins to tremble.

"I counted about fifteen body-guard looking people walking around obviously looking for something or someone. Four of them I saw take the elevator to go up, possibly to this floor. So they may know he or that something is up here that has to do with him."

She goes quiet again, nodding slowly.

"No- Well, I don't know. How could they know about this room?" She asks.

After more silence she suddenly stands up as her eyes move quickly around the room. She takes a step over Tae before she looks at me and mouths for me to turn the desk lamp to my right on.

Once the light is on I make the mistake of looking back down at Tae. There is so much blood on Jinyoung as well as Tae and for some reason only now am I noticing the smell. I hold my breath as I take a step forward before crouching down to be at his level as I place my hand on his.

"Tae..." I say shortly before holding my breath again.

He slowly moves his teary eyes to meet mine.

"Tae we need to get you out of here-" I breath out.

"He didn't want to die alone. He knew he-" He chokes back a sob as he holds our eye contact. "He knew he wouldn't make it and he didn't want to be alone. He asked if I would stay with him. I told him I would be here. That he wouldn't be alone."

The longer he has been speaking the more his chest heaves as he tries to catch his breath between cries. The look on his face and the sincere pain in his voice bring me to tears as well.

"Tae, let's get him lifted off of you. Then he can rest more peacefully." I say softly. "He deserves some peace."

I know the man is gone. He was my friend and I'm devastated too, but comfort for him is not a priority. The position Tae was sitting in could not have been comfortable but more importantly, he needs some sort of comfort. He needs a hug.

It takes a little coaxing but I am finally able to get him to let me lift Jinyoung as best I can off of his legs and pull him closer so that I can hug him. Once in my arms he really breaks down.

He doesn't say anything, just continues to sob, and that is just fine with me. He can talk when he is ready. If or whenever that might be.

"Do you see a laptop case or bag anywhere?" The girl asks as she glances around the room before looking at me.

Tae speaks from where his face is nestled into my neck, "He told me there was one. I think it's on the ground by the desk behind us." He sniffles before another sob breaks through.

She nods and brings her eyes to the floor by the desk, moving her eyes rapidly over the space before leaning forward, picking up a bag and walking to a table against the wall by the door.

"Yeah. I think I've got it." She says into the phone.

She begins to search through the bag, not looking like she's finding what she's looking for at first.

"His laptop is here." She says with relief before her voice drops back to concerned. "But I can't find..." She trails off as she continues to search through the pockets.

Her hand is deep in one of the front compartments of the bag before she pulls out a black phone that looks just like the one Hyuk gave Taehyung as well as a black square that's about the size of a small notebook.

"He has the hard drive. He has the hard drive, his laptop and his phone." She says in a relieved voice.

Who is this girl? She knows Hyuk obviously, but who is she?

"Okay. I'll give it to- ME? Why do you want me to have it? This guys seems perfectly capable of taking this himself."

She's quiet again, gives an eye roll or two, as she nods her head quickly.

"Okay. How will we get these two out?"

"Three." Tae says sternly.

The girl and I both turn to look at him with furrowed brows.

"There are three of us here. Chanyeol, me and Jinyoung.... A-and you, I guess. So four. How will you get the four of us out?"

She lowers the phone with a sympathetic expression as she says, "He's going to have to stay..."

"What do you mean?! All we have to do is carry him out. We can have Hyuk come in or Chanyeol can carry him or-"

"Tae" I say as a tear falls from my eye, "I'm so so sorry, but she's right. It'll just be us two and her getting out of here."

"No! Absolutely fucking not. This is our fault. This is her fault! I told her this plan was bad and she didn't believe me. We are not just going to leave him here." He demands, grabbing my shirt. "Please, even if I have to stay with him until someone arrives, I'll be okay. But I can't leave him here. We are the reason he is dead!"

The girl takes a step forward and hands the phone out to Tae. "He wants to talk to you."

He quickly grabs the phone.

"Hyuk this is fucking bullshit. We can't leave him here!"

His lip begins to tremble while he listens. He shakes his head a few times in protest.

"But we-"

He stops as he continues to let his tears falls, glancing down at Jinyoung's body.

"Okay..."

He lowers the phone and hands it back to the girl before he wraps his arms more securely around my neck.

"Tae?"

"He said that we don't have a choice but to leave him here." He sniffles, "He said he will take care of it and that when Hi gets all of his stuff packed up we need to leave." He pauses as he sniffles a bit more. "He says we need to pull the fire alarm and then when everyone is trying to exit the building we can leave with the rest of the people as they evacuate."

I nod before looking to where the girl, Hi I guess is her name, is standing over a desk.

"Did you catch that."

"Yes. And I am ready to go." She says as she zips up the laptop case before turning to us. "I saw a fire alarm near the elevator. I can pull it if you two want to go ahead and get a head start."

She nods to me before her she looks at Tae's before looking down at his clothes.

"Give me his jacket and I'll put it in this bag."

"Why do you..." I begin to ask why she wants this but as I look down at the piece of clothing it has quite a lot of blood on it.

I proceed to help him remove the garment before handing it over to her to get it put in the bag.

Once she is stood up and I have readjusted my grip on Tae, carrying him close to my chest she nods and I return the gesture. Tae takes one last sad look at Jinyoung before we walk out of the room into the thankfully empty hall.

We've only been walking for about thirty seconds when the alarms and flashing lights start going on.

Hi comes up next to us quickly just as I am opening the door to the stairwell.

"Once we get down to the first floor we should be able to slip out of the building without issue. No one should be looking for us." She says quietly before we begin to descend the stairs in relative silence.

Tae is still shaking in my arms as he sobs silently, and he's so upset that I didn't think walking was an option. At least not at the pace we need to go to get the fuck out of here. I hoist him up a little higher in my arms as I continue down to the last flight of stairs.

My legs feel like giving out, but once we make it out of the building, into the crowd of company workers and trainees, we are hardly paid any attention to.

We rush towards where my car is parked in the parking lot. As we get closer I see that Yoongi has moved to the drivers seat but Hyuk is still in the back. I decide to slide into the back seat as well so I can stay by Tae to try and comfort him as well as get him calmed down.

Once we're all together, Hi turns and hands the laptop bag to Hyuk. He immediately opens the bag to search through it. He looks through it anxiously but his face relaxes and his frantic movements slow once he removes the hard drive.

He's quiet for a few moments before he looks at Yoongi in the rear view mirror. "Are you calmed down enough to drive or should Hi?"

"Driving? Driving where?" Yoongi asks.

"We need to get this information to General Kim as soon as possible."

"Isn't... that where Mrs Jeon is?" Tae sniffles with a scowl.

"Yes. We need to get this to her and her father." He smiles before he looks back down at the device in his lap.

"This is it. This should have the remaining information we need to seal the cases." Hyuk says as he looks between myself and Yoongi before looking back at the black square. "This is it."
