Epilogue pt3
The orange glow of the wish lanterns washed the dark dirt trodden path in a golden hue, reminding Yoongi of fireflies as it stretched along the path to beyond the hedge he had first stumbled upon. He smiled as he approached the hedge obscuring the paradise beyond, no one to give him away.
Seokjin of course had tried to step in, giving him in place of his noona as had Jungkook's parents but Yoongi figured that he had come into Hoseok's life pretty much on his own, walked on his own before after Kyunsoo died too. And as much as Yoongi would not like to be honest about it, Hoseok did point out the fact that while Seokjin and Jungkook's parents were good candidates they would be doing out of pity and neither knew about Yoongi or what he went through, his past and what it meant to him, hence it would be meaningless.
Yoongi's white clad feet came to hold as he waited for his cue to sound. He was practically bouncing, rocking back and forth in excitement at the thought of the next few moments that would mark another beautiful chapter of his life.
He remembered how Hoseok and him had decided on who would be the bride. Even though Yoongi was the more taking one in the relationship, the both leaned on each other, both needed each other. So albeit to contrary belief of settling it like matured adults by listing over the pros and cons and all the shenanigans, they decided on rock, paper, pencil, scissors.
He also remembered how he was not disappointed about it either. All was well as long as he was the one marrying his man.
He took in the chilly but tolerable night air, the pristine white suit and the beautiful splatters of pink brought by the cherry blossom and lilies in his hand made him smile softly.
Sure lilies sometimes signified death but it also stood for beauty. Lillies for beauty of some thing transient and fleeting, something eternal too. Cherry blossoms that signified the beauty, fragility and shortness of life. Brought together in hopes of a little more time borrowed or owned to live together in this world, to make memories good and bad, as long as they were together.
Yoongi breathed in and out, unable to cover up his smile despite his jittery nerves that was rising by the second at the rising amount of chatters just beyond.
"Sorry I'm late." He sudden jolted as warm hand grasped at his shoulder. Startled Yoongi turned around to face the withered face of his CEO. Yoongi bowed lowly and the older man bowed back lightly smiling warmly.
"Feeling nervous?" the older man's eyes crinkled but did not quite disappear, the familiar fatherly aura immediately putting Yoongi at ease as Yoongi nodded biting his lip.
"Its normal." The Ceo spoke and Yoongi nodded feeling small as the elder man looked around, seeing the hesitant question in his eyes.
"No one's giving me away." Yoongi laughed but the sound sounded forlorn for some reason. "Its not like a normal wedding anyway."
The elder man looked at him, eyes flickering in the light of those wishing lanterns and somehow Yoongi knew what the elder man was going to offer before he actually spoke.
"May I?" The elder man's eyes were prideful, bright with joy and hopeful as though there was no more honor he could be bestowed as he stretched his hand out.
"I watched you grew up, before me yoongi-ah. I have no child of my own but you and some others, were always there with me. From the young age you joined, you went through a lot and there wasn't much I could do except hold out a hand. " The elder man began as he noticed Yoongi's pensive hesitance. "Sometimes when you took hold of it, I was never more happy but then sometimes you wouldn't. I would often have to let you go inorder to make you stand on your feet too." The elder man continued and it suddenly striked Yoongi how many hands had he turned a blind eye toward and thought of himself as alone until he had finally grasped Hoseok's?
"Seeing you all grow up before my eyes, following and finding your self makes me proud. There is no greater honor if you would give me the chance to give you away to the right person." The man smiled to himself not noticing the way Yoongi's eyes shimmered in the twilight, "A great honor indeed."
Yoongi found himself at loss for words, his throat parched and dry as he squeezed his eyes shut upon realizing how much he had craved for an older presence who knew him inside out, a parental presence in this important night of his life.
Yoongi tried not to think of his mom who had left him and his Noona, his dad who cared more about a golden euphoric drink more than his offspring, how would they have been if they had been like an ordinary family.
Would his dad be beside him right now, giving him pre-wedding advice while his mom and sister side by side excitedly talking as they impatiently waited for the wedding to start? Would they be crying once the ceremony was over? Would they tease him?
Yoongi only realized he was crying when a firm hand grasped his shoulder while another wiped at his tears.
"Yoongi." The Ceo began as Yoongi finally opened his brimming eyes. "I always thought it was wrong when they said you felt nothing." The man said and Yoongi's eyes snapped towards the elder man's.
"You always felt too much." The elder man breathed but before Yoongi could express his gratitude, the first few notes of the wedding march pierced through the air signaling his que.
The elder man held out a silent arm raising his eyebrows and this time Yoongi didn't hesitate before clasping the man's elbow and. Almost immediately the elder man rose to his full height beside Yoongi, beaming with pride and Joy as Yoongi silently began leading the older man in according to the rehearsed way.
It was a bit off beat when Yoongi finally stepped past the hedge but watching as the full beauty of the garden that had once been his and Hoseok's took his breath away. Yoongi caught the catch of breath of the older man and smiled to himself.
The lanterns continued along the dirt path altar, till the small makeshift dais where a priest waited along with Hoseok. The central dais were made out of an intricate foliage of cherry blossoms and the occasional lilly, diverging from four pillars on the dais converging at point in the center in a majestic way. Under those were curtains on all sides except the front bringing in a beautiful effect as the lanterns mades them and the flowers look like they were bathed in a soft gold.
Faerie lights clung to the branches of the trees flanking the areas and above the seating area and flowers bouquets in the general theme sat on every white clothed table.
It was annoyingly pink and white, Yoongi had pointed out, basically what you expect every gay wedding to be like but Suran then pointed out only we decided genders and sexuality to colors except for seeing them for what they were. For seeing colors as symbols as something more than just terms and labels. Besides, if the flowers had a meaning to it, why would you be affected by color?
So Yoongi and Hoseok had agreed but now, he had to agree that suran was right, the colors looked perfect in the twilight and they weren't just a random bunch of pretty flowers either. Yoongi's eyes sauntered over the handful of people who had been invited to their wedding.
Suran and Lisa stood beaming near Hoseok as his best women (did that happen in straight marriages?) and Jimin as his best man. He saw Jungkook's parents looking back at him as he walked forth and Taehyung who was constantly moving along with his giant camera trying to capture both the bride and groom. Seokjin who was grinning and handsome as ever, clicking pictures of- Namjoon?
Yoongi chuckled at the unexpectedness of the situation that was occurring even as the wedding march played and his eyes caught Hoseok's bright ones across the path. The bright smile he gave Yoongi coupled with how heavenly he looked and the promise in his eyes made Yoongi's knees feel weak and he clutched on to the CEO's hand a bit tighter.
It did not go unnoticed by the elder man either.
"Calm." The elder man soothed and Yoongi blushed in embarrassment almost forgetting his rehearsed steps that Lisa had painfully made him practice over and over again.
Yoongi suddenly felt thankful for the terms they were at now. His life romantically and his career they were balancing quite well enough. Yoongi and Hoseok had come out to the world just two months back and surprisingly all their fans took it well. Upon the new of the engagement, they went ballistic but in a good way. Sure there were hate comments here and there but the majority were messages of love and well wishes and joking letters of broken hearts but well wishes all the same. He was glad that as somebody they was able to change people's lives and their sexuality wouldn't cause an impact upon their lives badly.
Their fans weren't informed about the wedding to keep it private and he could already imagine the internet and media interviews he would have to go through in the next few days. But in the end it was all worth it.
And just like that lost in his thoughts, he didn't realize he had reached his destination until he was face to face with Hoseok.
Yoongi took in the Hoseok's slicked and spiked hair that reveled his forehead, his prefect cut black suit and his silky white shirt that was stretched almost too tight over the chest. The light and natural makeup on the latter's face accentuated his sharpness but did nothing to dampen the crinkles of his eyes when he smiled. And Yoongi was never more thankful.
He did not think he was prepared for being in the presence of something this ethereal.
"Done checking me out babe?" Hoseok smirked as the priest began the ceremony and Yoongi rolled his eyes though smiling.
"You've got lipstick on your teeth." Yoongi smirked and began giggling as Hoseok swiped a tongue over his teeth in panic but then stopped and sent Yoongi a dry look as he realized that the elder man was pulling his leg.
Smiling at each other, they did not realize how much of the ceremony had passed until the priest asked for their friends to read selections about love that especially resonate with them. Yoongi had chosen had chosen Lisa feeling that she too needed a part in is wedding seeing to the fact that it was Lisa who helped him cope at least a bit before Hoseok came along. Hoseok had chosen Suran, remembering the time they only had themselves before finally realizing their faults and opening their eyes to the people around them.
Hosoeok and Yoongi smiled fondly as Lisa and Suran walked up, Lisa standing beside Yoongi and Suran beside Hoseok. Suran looked beautiful clad in a soft white bridesmaid gown, snug on her torso and flowing from her waist ending just above her ankles. Her hair was down in curls framing her face and she looked extremely breathtaking if Jimin's expression was anything to go by.
Lisa stood in a similar attire opposite to her sister as Suran started her reading with a soft smile.
"When we end up in the cold sea despite their chase,
but with sparkling eyes and the seeping warmth of the one next to me,
When we realize that we didnt want the sunset to cease,
Not because it was beautiful and fleeting,
But because it means farewell as darkness covets,
But because it meant another set of eternities before I can grasp your hand again.
Is that what love is ?"
Hoseok's eyes caught Yoongi's as Suran finished her words, his heart screaming yes a thousand times over, yes that's what love is, his soul sang as it twined in the chilly night air with Yoongi's. Without them noticing, their hands twined, eyes so caught up in each other, none of the audience noticing how Suran wasn't looking at the couple in awe like the others. No, her eye were fixed on a taller man's back, who stood right beside Hoseok smiling with pride.
Maybe it was then too that Suran finally admitted to herself that no matter what love was, she was willing to find out what it was. Maybe enjoy sharing It with somebody else than Lisa, Hoseok, Yoongi or kook.
Maybe.
"I love you for what you are and what I become when I am by your side." Lisa broke the silence with her lilting voice and Yoongi broke into a laugh, his voice cracking but the happiness in his were not something that could be just blown away.
There was the rustling leaves, the moon hanging above the clouds just like when they had first met and a thousand lantern that lit up the way for their loved ones. But, to Hoseok there was just Yoongi and to Yoongi; Hoseok.
"Please join your hands to tell your vows." The pastor requested and the couple obliged, facing each other.
"The bride." The pastor prompted and Hoseok breathed in before beginning, eyes never straying a centimeter from the younger's.
"A soulmate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are; we can be loved for who we are and not for who we're pretending to be. Each unveils the best part of the other. No matter what else goes wrong around us, with that one person we're safe in our own paradise. You are my person, you are the person who loves me for me, you reveal the best part of me. I love you and I love our paradise."
"I promise to hold you through your tears, watch a thousand sunrises together, be the paradise you can dwell in and I ask of you nothing but to be true to yourself." Yoongi spoke words flowing smoothly, unlike the scratchy and crossed out way he had written at first trying to gauge his emotions and chain them to syllables and metaphors.
"This is my solemn vow."
Hoseok who hadn't heard of the vows yet, felt his breath knock out of his chest at the promise, the vow and the beautiful vision that the elder was giving to him in a span of a few words. His hands tightened in Yoongi's grasp as the elder smiled up at him and somehow Hoseok couldn't help himself from leaning forwards.
A sudden throat cleared and a few snickers rang out as Hoseok suddenly jostled backwards realizing that they were having a wedding ceremony and not a private conversation.
Laughing in embarrassment he finally began his own vows, even though he felt like they were tiny and incomparable compared to Yoongi's.
"When its summer I promise to enjoy the sun with you, when its winter I promise to give you my jacket and hold your hands through the snow, in autumn I promise to rake the garden regularly." Hoseok's last statement got a few laughs but Yoongi's croaky laughter was the brightest of them all.
"In rain, we shall drink tea together and look at our galaxy." Hoseok's hands left Yoongi's hands at that and drifted towards Yoongi's cheek unable to stop himself. "And in spring we will walk together on that path, downhill or uphill, through curves and potholes. I will be there every season, month and second of our lives together. I ask of you nothing but your smile and your tears, smile so I can see you everyday like that, tears because I can wipe them away." True to his words, Hoseok softly thumbed at the tears softly flowing from Yoongi's eyes, neither of them aware of the hushed and awed silence that had descended upon the venue.
"This is my solemn vow." Hoseok finished and Yoongi's cracked laughter broke the serious air and the pastor continued on with the ceremony.
"Do you take Jung Hoseok, to be your husband, to love him, to cherish him, and to continually bestow upon him your heart's deepest devotion? "
"I do." Yoongi breathed smiling happily.
"And, do you take Min Yoongi to be your wife, to love him, to cherish him, and to continually bestow upon him your heart's deepest devotion?"
"Yes. I do." Hoseok smiles stratched so wide, his cheeks beautifully puffed up even as tears leaked through.
"Exchange of rings." The pastor announced and the rings were brought forth.
They slipped similar thin silver bands with a diamond crescent moon on the front, on each other's fingers. It was the night that had brought them together, the moon who never left, the one who watched over them despite it all.
"With this, I thee wed." Hoseok began.
"With this I thee wed." Yoongi echoed and the people broke into cheers.
"You may now kiss the bride." The pastor smiled and the audience broke into louder cheers, little Na Heun, jumping and laughing excitedly, the others, Suran, Lisa, jimin, Jungkook, Taehyung, Seokjin, and the Ceo all howling wildly in excitement as the couple grinned at each other.
"What are you waiting for?" Yoongi asked sassily and almost immediately Hoseok's hand was pulling him against the younger's chest almost aggressively but the grip he had on Yoongi was anything but.
Gentle hands skimmed Yoongi jaw, gently tilting the elder's jaw up, the other hand holding him close as he leaned forward. Yoongi's eyes fluttered shut and almost immidealty Hoseok lip's met his sweet and slow like chocolate and milk but with an undertone of a raging fire that could burn through a thousand eternities.
The kiss was a promise, one treasured and one that would be kept. Something that was brought by thousands of memories and seeing each other's darkest memories. It birthed from treasuring their happy moments enough to not depair in darkness knowing that they would always have each other's warmth no matter what.
With a soul wrenching sigh, Hoseok broke apart their molded lips and smiled down at him.
"Hello Mr.Jung"
