Epilogue pt2
"Hoseok!" Suran yelled brightly into the phone as soon as it was attached to the ear.
"Ay! How's my little sister doing?" Hoseok replied just as brightly and Suran scrunched her nose in disgust at the term, choosing to keep her silence.
"Missed me?" Hoseok asked again unfazed by the sudden disapproving silence.
"Never." Suran lied through her teeth, shaking her head for added effect even though it was only a phone call.
"You know I can smell you lying from here?" Hoseok joked and Suran hummed in agreement, not bothering herself to deny it as she packed her bag with art supplies.
"So how's the album doing?" Suran asked even though she already knew exactly how many charts it had topped worldwide.
"You heard the song didn't you?" Hoseok asked after a brief pause and Suran shrugged, still rummaging around her apartment to find a damn pencil.
"Maybe."
"And? How was it?" Hoseok asked and when she recognized breathless anticipation, the kind of aura Hoseok usually had when he made himself vulnerable to anyone, the kind that could easily hurt him no matter whether it was a joke or not.
"It was beyond anything I hoped for." Suran whispered, not playing with him anymore and she was rewarded with a relieved breath.
"I'm glad." Hoseok breath and she just smiled and finally secured her backpack, deciding to call and ask Kaziah for it later on. She never understood herself really. She was an art students who did not have pencils. Pencils always seemed to always run away from her, whether it was in her apartment or on her school desk, they always jumped to their suicides when she wasn't looking.
"-Did you hear?" She heard Hoseok say as she snapped back from her gloomy reverie.
"Could you say that again?" Suran asked sheepishly while trying to lock her apartment door.
"What were you thinking about?" Hoseok asked her light heartedly and Suran gave a genuine reply.
"Pencils."
"What they committed suicide again?"
"Even worse." She whispered dramatically as she pressed on the button for an elevator. "Kidnapped."
"Whats the ransom?" Hoseok asked her rather seriously.
"I think they have an oath against staying in my pouch." Suran pouted at herself as she got into the elevator, noticing hooded taller man's presence in the lift.
"Or you just loose them." Hoseok popped her bubble and she blew breath rustling the lock of hair that had fallen onto her face.
"Oh please." Suran stuck her tongue out at herself, trying to fix herself before she got out paying no attention to the guy in the elevator with her. She was wearing grey sweatpants and a loose crop top that was fairly oversize and her hair in a ponytail.
"So as I was saying Yoongi-" Hoseok started on the other end and the thought of Yoongi connected her to Tony Montana and before she could stop herself from doing so, she yelled in realization and accusation into the phone so loudly that the taller man beside her flinched too.
"Jimin!"
Realizing her error she quickly bowed in apology saying sorry in english and to her surprise the man bowed back nodding in acknowledgment.
"What about him?" Hoseok asked softly almost as if mocking her and Suran's eyes narrowed.
"Park Jimin." She seethed noticing how the man flinched almost involuntary again, how his face was also covered by a mask, making his face not visible. "That bastard."
She noticed how the stranger stiffened again yet she did not understand why he did so. She cursed in Korean-wait was he Korean too?
"Why exactly is he a bastard?" Hoseok enquired amusedly.
"He didn't say that he was collaborating with you guys!"
"He is...I don't know." Suran shook her head as she stepped out of the elevator and continued onto the university which was on the same compound.
"That's not all you are irked for." Hoseok commented.
"Please hold on for a second." Suran urgently whispered suddenly as she noticed the hooded man following her. She couldn't tell if they had the same destination or if he was actually following her.
"Suran? Whats wrong?" Hoseok's worried speech came from the other end yet Suran paid no heed to it. Slowly breathing in and out she calmed herself and tried to take control of the situation. She forced herself to the open ground instead of the empty hallways that waited for her.
Just to make sure, she turned around only to see the hooded man being led away with man with a bucket hat who was taller and broader than him, with a clap on the bag. Relief rushed through her system as she answered the call once again.
"Suran? Su-"
"Its alright Hoseok-ah. I was just being paranoid." Suran explained wincing as Hoseok began to scold her fro scaring him. After a shit tin of words, apologies and light promises, she was standing in front of her favorite room.
The art room.
She pushed the already open door and peeked into the room o find Kazaih and Shealyn already waiting. She waved smiling softly as they enthusiastically back.
Meanwhile Hoseok was still ranting.
"I said I'm sorry." Suran suddenly cut off Hoseok as she set her backpack down on the ground and rolling up her sleeves to get to work.
"Su-"
"oppa." She warned and Hoseok sighed in defeat.
"Just take care of yourself okay?"
"You always know I do oppa." Suran smiled reassuringly but it almost instantly turned into a frown when she saw her friends make smooching faces and mocking hearts at each other.
"Guys! Its my brother." Suran said in absolute disgust at them and they sheepishly smiled at her. She rolled her eyes at them, nevertheless showing them five fingures indicating she would take a few minutes and the nodded understandingly.
"So tell me what is wrong with Jimin?" Hoseok asked her suddenly, resuming their earlier conversation.
"Thank you." Suran said to Shealyn as she pressed a warm cup of Frappuccino onto her hands.
"Its okay. Take your time." Shealyn smiled and Suran nodded gratefully.
"Was that your friend?" Hoseok asked again.
"Yes you snooping grandmom." Suran chuckled as Hoseok feigned a gasp. "It was shealyn."
"Oh! Tell Shealyn that I said hi!" Hoseok said brightly and Suran could almost imagine his bright heart shaped smile.
"My brother says Hi!" Suran yelled sarcastically and Shealyn yelled back a hi loud enough for Hoseok to hear.
"Im glad that you have friends."
"Yeah me too." Suran smiled as she looked over to her bestfriends who just sat chatting just a few meteres away from her as she talked.
"So why exactly jimin a bastard?" Hoseok asked and Suran drew in an exaggerated breath.
"Because he didn't talk to me the past few days! For days Hoseok! Like does it look like I'm that jobless to go and talk to him even when he puts me on read? And on of that he collabed with you guys for a song! He never told me anything! We are supposed to bestfriends and this is biting my head off because I feel guilty not knowing that Jimin was a good singer! And that makes me think he doesn't want me to talk to him anymore." Suran ranted out, varying before yelling and whispering, startling her friends greatly event though she didn't notice it.
"Theres more.." Hoseok urged and Suran rolled her eyes for the millionth time that day.
"Of course there is!" Suran yelled into the otherwise silent room, making the other girls flinch at the abrupt noise. "He promised me Hoseok-ah." Suran now whispered trying to keep her stinging eyes from stinging further. "He promise me that he would come. The day was yesterday. He still did not come."
"Suran," Hoseok breathed out after a brief pause and she bit her lip, bringing her knees against her chest as she slid down the wall. "Do you like him?"
The breath knocked out of her so hard, it was audible. Her frantic eyes noticed her curious stares but she couldn't form an answer at the possibility.
"H-how do you f-feel when you like someone? In that way?" Suran asked after long pause, swinging her legs back and forth nervously, suddenly thankful that her friends couldn't understand Korean.
"Its like..." Hoseok sighed through his nose, "Its like waking upto warm sunshine, except you don't feel your eyes go blind at the brightness, instead its timid and has a thousand lots of kisses accompanied with it."
Suran frowned. "Are you sure you not talking about Yoongi?"
Hoseok laughed and Suran's frown quirked up at the genuine action.
"Fine then." Hoseok rlented before finally thinking of something.
"Rani, you are sleeping on the bed there is somebody next to you, his arms are draped around you waist" Suddenly Hoseok paused and let out a small 'ew' at the mental image he too had gotten.
Suran laughed out loud.
"Continue." She giggled and she could almost see Hoseok rolling his eyes.
"I cant. Its disgusting to say from my mouth." Hoseok gagged. "You continue."
"Mhmm? Okay." Suran agreed to the little game, not getting how it would explain liking someone but nevertheless curious.
"Uh so okay. His arms are around my waist and He's spooning me, except he really cant because he's shorter than me. And I keep giggling at him because of it and I finally turn around to see his eyes squint and disappear as Jimin smiles sheepishly...." The rambled thought suddenly trails as she finally realizes who she was picturing.
A soft gasp escapes her lips as realization dawns on her. But still a part of her doesn't want to comprehend nor accept the fact.
"Ohmygod." Suran whispers and she can hear Hoseok yell victoriously on the other end. "But I just need him in my life, his presence just makes me happier, comforting and safe. I-" Suran starts words tumbling from her mouth but Hoseok interjects shutting her up almost immediately.
"Suran, isn't that what love is all about?"
*
"Suran why don't you date?" Shealyn's voice pierces the tranquility of the room and Suran's mind immediately flies to Jimin.
She frowns at her own mind, remembering Hoseok's words and pouts at herself.
No she couldn't like him like that. Its just her mind playing tricks.
"Why did you accept-whats that guys name again-Brian?" Shealyn asks while Kazaih rolls her eyes. Like Suran, Kazaih had no tast for dating or significant other relationships and such.
"Because..." Suran bit on the back of her paintbrush, trying to figure out why exactly she had rejected him, "He was so....bland?"
"But he was cute!"
"Doesn't matter." Suran shrugs making Shealyn huffs in disbelief and Suran goes back to painting her piece.
"How much time do we have left?" Kazaih asks while munching on an apple looking at the soft afternoon sunshine shining through the big windows.
The room had been given to her on weekend just because, she had begged for it. She didn't have anything to do particularly in her lonely apartment so on free weekends, she used to come and paint when Shealyn and Kaziah would leave for their homes. But this time they had stuck around for somewhere, saying something about celebrating new year early since Suran would be all alone on New years. And here they were, snickering ,bickering and disturbing the hell out of her.
"About –oh shit- five minutes."Suran panics as its already time for wind up and she wasn't able to finish the portrait like she had wanted. She stomps her foot angrily and throws up her hands while her friends snicker at her childishness.
"Its because of you guys!" Suran yells just to get them riled up.
"Wha-"
"How-"
"Shorties." She giggles teasingly at them and almost immediately they take offence.
"Friendship cancelled." Kazaih claims somberly, clasping Shaelyn's hand dramatically. "You are the only one true to me."
Suran rolled her eyes picking up her glass of stained water and walks towards the nearest washroom when a finger taps at her shoulder.
"I know its time to leave..." Suran turns around, thinking that it's the security again, reminding them about their time but she trails off as she sees three unfamiliar men dressed in all black, with masks, hoods and sunglasses enter.
Immediately her heartbeat picks up, fear kicking into her system and she vaguely notices Shealyn and Kaziah getting up worriedly from their positions.
Its when a girl, dressed comfortably in ripped jeans and a tight top emerges from behind them, that the grip on her glass of water releases and it sloshes to the floor messily. Suran stumbles, knees wavering and gasp tearing as the familiar ravenette, now blond grins at her cheekily.
"Lisa!" She yells in disbelief as her sister tackles her almost toppling them both over but she manages to stay up right while holding onto the easel behind her for support.
"Aish." She mutters as she sees some of the painstakingly applied paint smother her fingers, smudging the painting but she doesn't bother about it more and immediately hugs the familiar skinny frame of her sister back, taking in her sweet scent and sighing contentedly.
"Missed you." She murmurs quietly into Lisa's neck and Lisa giggles but running her fingers over Suran's hair. Its then that Suran realizes who the other men and she wrenches herself out of Lisa's grip and topples toward the tallest one she identifies as her brother.
The bright laughter she gets once she is in Hoseok's arms confirms his identity and Suran rests comfortably against his solid chest, his warmth echoing deep inside her heart.
"Rani." He cooes softly while pinching her cheeks making her annoyed ." Aigooo, my baby sister has gotten prettier."
Suran slaps his hands away, pushing away his hood and mask to see his face better, knocking off his sunglasses off to in the process. He grabs hold of his seemingly humongous face and flicks his forehead and darts away before Hoseok can reciprocate.
"Whats with the masks oppa?" She laughs coming to a stand beside Lisa while Hoseok frowns at her distastefully for letting her get away.
"People were recognizing us on the streets." Hoseok mumbles a bit embarrassedly pulling the small bundle of black next to him, to his side.
Suran twines her hand with her sister's smaller one, trying to look past Hoseok's broad shoulders and the other men behind him.
"Yoongi?" She calls loudly at the now black haired man who was irritatedly taking away his mask and sunglasses.
The said man breaks into a gummy smile and waves his hand with a soft "Hi, Suran-ssi"
Suran smiles back walking over to him and sharing a brief hug with the older.
"Black hair suits you." Suran compliments and Hoseok flicks the back of her head, "Hey! I dyed my hair too! Why didn't you compliment me?"
It was true , Hoseok's hair was an aurburn shade, made him look sharper and handsome but Suran scrunched her face in disgust while roving an eye over his appearance making Hoseok lurch forward again to flick her.
Yoongi stops his boyfriend with a laugh and that's when Suran notices a thin gold bracelet on Yoongi's pale wrist and a ring dangling from it. Her eyes almost bulge out and her gaze immediately snaps towards Hoseoks and as expected she sees a similar one on Hoseok's.
"Ohmygod." Her words come out inn a jumble and breathless disbelief. Shes then violently gripping onto Hoseoks shoulders and shaking the hell out of him. Hoseok tries to say something but Suran feels violent and ends up slapping any pice of Hoseok she could find.
"Ow-"Hoseok's yelps at a particularly hard slap and this time Yoongi steps in.
"I told him to keep a surprise." Yoongi smiles and Suran narrows her eyes because she can see through it all and see it was Hoseok's idea.
"Two hits for every lie you say to defend your boyfriend." Suran warns and immediately Yoongi slides away leaving Hoseok to his own.
"You little-" Hoseok's starts looking betrayed by Yoongi but Yioongi smiles his gum,my smile as he backs away with his hands up defeatedly.
"Su-ow!- Listen" Hoseok yelps and Suran ceases her attack for a moment allowing him to speak. "It happened yesterday!"
Suran gives him a flat look. "Its been twenty four hours then, why didn't you say anything ?"
"Uh, surprise?" Hoseok mumbles sheepishly and Suran lets it go. Its then she realizes the full enormity of the situation. Hoseok, Yoongi and Lisa are here in Dubai, to see her. And Hoseok and Yoongi are going to get married.
"Oh my god." She mumbles again burying her face into her hands, "I still remember when you guys were in denial about your feelings," She fake sniffs ignoring the couple's smiles at each other, "Now you are about to get married."
"I know right!"Lisa yells and soon is pulled into a squealing Lisa's enthusiastic jumping and squealing ceremony and she lets herself be manhandles by her sister's bold dance moves, her laughter echoing across the walls.
"I missed you so much." Lisa smiles finally calming down and Suran notices the silver lining her eyes and she softly smiles back tucking the shorter one close. And suddenly she's wrapped up in a giant hug by Hoseok and she laughs amidst of all.
God, how she missed them.
Suran finally notices the third man who still has his hood and mask on.
"Whos that?" Suran whispers to Hoseok and Hoseok grins unnervingly.
"Our bodyguard." Suran relaxes at that, disappointment and relief coursing through her and she beats herself up internally for it.
Its not like she wanted to Jimin to come right?
But then she finds her breath caught in her throat as the man taks of his hood and mask, finally uncovering himself.
"Jimin." Hoseok whispers teasingly into her ears before pushing the girl towards Jimin.
Suran cannot find anything to say as she takes him in. Oh boy, he has grown. Grown would be an understatement infact. She can already see that Jimin is infact taller than her now, built with more muscles than pudge now. His eyes and lips more prominent because of his slimmer cheeks and sharper jaw, and he looks so sensual with that newly black hair, Suran does not realizes that she reached him until they are almost nose to nose.
A thousand worries closes up on her throat and she finds herself unable to say anything. Her eyes raked over Jimin's now tall form longingly, wondering if that silence he had initiated between them would take over now, and if Jimin would continue be as cold,, how would she take it?
She didn't time to ponder over that when Jimin suddenly broke into the familiar eye smile, eyes still disappearing despite his cheeks having lost his chubbiness. The sudden sight shot a wave a relief and she relaxed as Jimin muttered a soft, "Hey."
"Strawberry shortcake ." She muttered out of instinct and Jimin threw his head back and laughed, legit rainbows giggles smiling from his laugh. He mockingly gestured to himself, his height and hair to which Suran rolled her eyes even though her heart melted at the sight.
"Black...berry..." scrunching her face up thoughtfully, she tried to come up with a new nickname that suited him but was soon cut off by Jimin's smile.
"Chim girl." His voice resonated deep within her and suddenly she was aggressively grabbing his hoodie and pushing him against the wall behind him without a thought and to her surprise Jimin let her.
It wasn't necessarily at the nickname she had earned during those continuous hours of chatting after calling him chim chim for being so cute. She couldn't tell if it was flirting or not but it made her feel all fuzzy inside . She was currently pinning him because of those ignored texts that had put her on edge those past few days and the way he acted like nothing happened with being all giggles and smiles with her.
"Why." She muttered and Jimin's eyes avoided hers as he mumbled out a sorry.
"It was for this surprise." Jimin smiled and she had to admit her heart did melt at the sheepish eye smile he gave her.
Suran held his collar for a few more beats and then let him go with a sigh. Jimin smiled victoriously and Suran tried not to cringe at the sudden knowing silence of the room as she turned around. True to her expectation Hoseok, Yoongi and Lisa were grinning at her and she huffed trying not let her sudden blush show.
Suran walked towards the door of the art room and smiled warningly as she opened it.
"Come on, lets meet my friends ." Suran grinned wider at the thought she didn't have to hide anything anymore and the fact that all of them looked apprehensive. "And lets hope you survive."
