The Ky are a space-faring race, generally allied to the Empire for several hundred years. They backed up a weakened Imperial Navy and won the Emperor's gratitude in holding the Mostrel back. Their reward was a parcel of the empire. To keep it safe. But it was technically Ky territory.

The relationship between the empire and the Ky remained mostly stable over the decades. They had a common enemy. But decay comes from within, and it was no different with the Ky.

Ky are humanoid, their life spans are slightly longer than humans, and they have been able to produce viable offspring with other races (Bask, for instance).
