Chapter Four

My whole body was relaxed now and I no longer felt cautious. The first ten minutes of him being here, I made sure to keep a close eye on him at all times.

We were both sitting on the recliner chair, our legs spread out in front of us. We were watching.... wait for it... The land before time.

It was a movie about dinosaurs, a super old one at that. I remember I was first introduced to it by Zac's father when I was over at his house and I had fallen in love with it, especially with the character Ducky. She was adorable.

"Of course you'd choose this" Zac sighed from next to me. He knew what he was getting himself into when he asked what I wanted to watch. This was my life, the feels and everything mixed together was amazing. Especially because it reminded me of my childhood.

"It's the best movie ever, shut it" I complained.

"Did you know the person who voiced Ducky was shot by her father when she was young?" He shoved a bit of his piece of cake into his mouth.

"What?!" I turned to him, "Is she okay?"

"No, she died"

"What?" I stared at him but noticed he wasn't joking, "DON'T SAY THAT IN SUCH A NON CARING VOICE!"

He turned to me, raising his eyebrows, "It's sad but it was years ago, I didn't even know the person"

"You knew who she voiced. How do you know this happened?"

"It popped up on twitter one day"

"That's so sad" I frowned, and Ducky suddenly popped up onto the screen. So the person who voiced her was dead... That creeped me out. We were listening to the voice of a dead person.

"Hey look it's Fucky, your favorite character" He pointed to the television with his fork.

"DON'T CALL HER THAT, PAY YOUR RESPECTS!" I yelled at him, throwing a bit of my piece of cake.

"First of all, she died years ago, Second of all, I'm not talking about the actress, I'm talking about that character. She's so annoying"

"Shut up" I scowled, "You're annoying"

I froze when I felt a bit of cake fall against my cheek. I turned to him in shock, my eyes landing on his hand that had just thrown the piece.

"You did it first" He pointed out.

I debated on pulling off a bit of mine again but instead I brought the piece he had just thrown at me and smushed it onto his face. His face scrunched up in disgust as he tried to wipe it away with his hand.

The smirk that was on my face quickly wiped off when he reached toward me with more cake, "I'M SORRY! I'M SORRY, STOP!" I didn't want to get messy, "Don't destroy my couch!"

His hand stopped right in front of my face, almost threatening me with the cake.

"Open" He said, his voice sounded rough.

"Open? What?" My brow furrowed.

"Open your mouth"

I stared at him, "I'M NOT LETTING YOU FEED ME"

"Okay, you don't have to. I'll just put it into your face" He shrugged.

My mouth quickly opened and he grinned a victorious smile before popping a piece of the cake into my mouth. I chewed it angrily, throwing him a dirty look. I made a curtain between us with my hair to hide my warm cheeks.

My eyes focused back onto the television. Luckily we weren't watching the movie that had the sad moment in it. This was the sequel or.. I'm not sure. One of the other ones, there were a few 'land before time' movies.

I heard the buzz of a phone and I looked over to Zac who tugged the mobile from his pocket. His eyes scanned the caller I.D before bringing it to his ear with a sigh, "Kelly?"

Kelly.

The person on the other end spoke for a few seconds before Zac pulled a face, "Leave it on my desk, I'll sort it out tomorrow"

The person spoke again and the relaxed expression he had earlier was totally gone at this point, "Just tell him that I'll talk to him tomorrow, understood?"

He hung up the phone before she could talk again.

"Kelly?"

"New assistant" He sighed, leaning back his head.

"She good?"

"She's a bit clumsy and clueless but she'll get there. A bit nervous too" He brushed his hand through his hair.

"Are you okay?" I frowned.

"Me? Of course"

"You look stressed"

"My job can be stressful"

"If you're stressed in a job, it's not healthy"

"Don't you work two jobs? You're always stressed" He commented and I bit my tongue. He was technically right.

"Still.." I murmured.

"So, can I know who wants to talk to you?"

"No" His mood seemed to change immediately. Anger came from his voice and it almost looked as if his eyes had darkened. I watched him in surprise.

He copped on and looked to me, giving me a weak smile, "It's not important"

"Don't lie to me, Isaac, it is"

"It doesn't matter"

"Tell me, it's better letting it out than in" My therapist had told me that and honestly it was sort of true. When I had told her everything, it felt so good. It felt like a boulder had been lifted off my chest.

"No"

"Za-"

"Hollie" He stopped me, giving me a dark look and suddenly I understood. I knew he was talking about and it made my stomach turned over.

"I told you not to get involved"

"It doesn't matter what I do"

"Yes it does"

"You aren't involved, you shouldn't worry. This doesn't bother me like it bothers you"

"It does still bother me! I worry about you" I stared at him, desperate for him to understand. He looked over to me, his right eyebrow raising on it's own, "Do you?"

"Of course I do, are you crazy?"

"I mean we rarely talk unless it's... like you said, business related"

"It's not my fault"

"It's Max, right? He controls you"

"No, Zac. Stop twisting stuff, stop turning this on me and trying to squirm away form the conversation"

"I'm not" he shook his head, "I'm being honest here. You're being honest that it bothers you, so I'm saying what bothers me"

"You don't need to worry about my love life, I'm happy"

"You don't need to worry about my work life, I'm happy"

"Are you?" I raised my eyebrows.

"Very"

We glared at each other for what seemed like forever until I finally broke, "I'm sorry, I told you that... I just worry about you"

"Why?"

"Because you're my best friend, Zac!" I almost shouted at him.

"Okay" He leaned back in the chair, his eyes returning to the television, "Shush now and watch the movie. I missed what just happened"

"You hate this movie" I reminded him.

"Nah" He failed the argument horrifically and I almost laughed until I remembered our conversation just a few seconds before.

I told Zac not to start with those people.

There were... people. Whether you called them a gang or whatever, but they were bad. Zac had a history with them but managed to forget all about it then, and it was all over.

Until one of his friends from back there got in touch with him and needed his help. Something bad had happened, and Zac being the good guy he was got involved to try help and of course, it didn't end well.

You could say the people weren't on the best of terms.

I didn't know he still communicated with them, I thought he had sorted it out and all ties were cut but I guess not.

I just couldn't help but be concerned about the whole thing.

"Hey, Zac"

"Hm?" He made the noise while munching on a piece of popcorn. I glanced over, studying him for a second. If someone walked in right now, they wouldn't guess in a million years that this man owned a company was basically rich.

His eyes pulled from the television and he glanced to me, "Are you just going to stare or ask what you wanted to?"

I was pulled from my tance when she spoke, blinking for a moment, "Uh yes,.... yeah" I stumbled over myw ords whichc caused a smile to form on his face.

"You can take a picture if you love staring at me that much. It'll last longer"

"Very funny" I said, sarcasm lacing my tone. I bit my lip nevously, "Are you annoyed at me?"

"Annoyed?" He tilted his head, almost looking confused, "WHy would you ask that?"

"Because you seem to be getting frustrated with me easily"

"Not annoyed" He shook his head, "Upset is probably the word.. maybe"

"Why?" I frowned.

"Because of Max"

"If he's being rude to you, I'll try get him to stop but you can't be mean back. It doesn't work like that or else I can't help"

"Not for that reason. I miss this" He pointed between us, "When we could hang out without worrying"

I missed it too..

"We're adults now. Max just doesn't trust you"

"Or maybe he doesn't trust you"

I rolled my eyes at this, "Stop trying to make me go against Max. I love him, Isaac"

"I'm not. I'm just being honest" I notced the expression on his face. He was either hiding something or he really wanted to ask a question.

In this scenario, I assumed it was the question.

"Ask" I sighed.

His lips formed a straight lines, "You won't get mad?"

"Maybe"

"Good enough.." He hesitated, "Does he know..?"

My brow furrowed at his unusual question, "Know what?"

"That we had sex"
