Keith pov

Lance's hand is warm.
Really warm and soft.
I'm so fucking stupid for getting so emotional over the thought of my family.
Lance was just asking questions and I started fucking crying.
I'm pathetic.
I'm totally beating myself up. Whatever.
I need to gain control over my emotions, jesus.
I didn't look at Lance.
I just kept looking straight ahead as we walked.
I was trying not to make a big deal out of my current situation.
I began to feel butterflies in my chest as Lance's thumb began to lightly stroked the back of my hand.
A shiver went down my spine.
I've never had my hand held before. Well, not like this anyway.
I looked over at Lance.
He was looking straight ahead now.
I resumed looking ahead too.
We were nearing the end of the bridge. Pidge quickly looked behind their shoulder at us.
They instantly saw what was going on and smiles cheekily at us and then turned back around.
Hunk didn't notice. Hunk suddenly stopped and looked over the edge of the bridge.
"That's a long way down" He said. Pidge stopped and moved to look down as well.
Me and Lance stopped and I snatched my hand away before Hunk could see. I looked down at the road below.
"I could never jump off this, I'd be too scared" Hunk said weakly.
Nobody said anything.
"Okay does anyone feel anything at all?" Pidge asked us.
We all shook our heads.
"See? I told you guys this is all bogus" Pidge complained.
"Maybe the ghosts just aren't out tonight" Lance said.
"Well, I guess this is it then" Hunk said shrugging.
"Guess so" Pidge replied.
We began walking again and we reached the end of the bridge.
I avoided eye contact with Lance. "Wow this was eventful" Pidge said sarcastically.
"Shush" Hunk hissed.
We walked back to Lance's car and all packed in.
That was fun right guys?" Hunk asked. "The view was pretty" I mumbled.
"I got goosebumps so maybe there was a ghost" Lance suggested.
"Or it could of been of been because Keith looks so good it's scary" I perked up. I just smiled weakly.
"You're gross Lance" Hunk complained.
"I'm a rat" I said.
"Oh I disagree!" Lance interjected. "You're a god!" He exclaimed.
I just smiled. I don't know how to process compliments honestly.
I usually reject them.
"Pidge give me directions to your house again. I don't remember" Lance inquired.
"You're going the right way, just turn left up here and it's the 4th house on the left" Pidge explained.
We stopped in front of a medium size blue house with the porch lights on. "Thanks for driving Lance" Pidge chirped and hopped out of the car then waving goodbye to us as they shut the door.
We pulled away after Lance made sure Pidge was inside safely.
"Can you remember how to get back to my house?" I asked.
"Yes" Lance said.
"Ack but it's all the way on the other side of the city, fuck" He complained. "Do you want to just come stay over at my house?" Lance suggested as we stopped at a red light.
My heart began to race.
I don't really know Lance.
God I would love more than anything to stay at his house but my anxiety seems to think otherwise.
"Fuck it" I thought.
"Uh yeah sure I'm just going to ask Christine" I said fumbling around for my phone. I pulled it out of my pocket and sent her a text.
Hey, Would I be able to stay at Lance's house?
Her reply was almost instant.
But you don't have a change of clothes or a toothbrush or anything.

I'll be fine.

That's gross. I don't know how you men can sleep in the same clothes as the day before😂

Ugh her and her emojis. She's an emoji person.

But yes I suppose you can. Dane isn't going to be thrilled you know?

I smiled.

I know he won't. But I've finally made friends!

I'm proud of you for that. I'll pick you up tomorrow if you'd like. Just text me the address.

Yes I will.

Thank you.

I'll see you tomorrow. Don't stay up all night. Sleep well, Goodnight 🌙☁️✨

Night💫

"Yeah I'm allowed to stay" I said. Lance's face brightened with happiness.
"Fuck yeah!" Lance said grinning. "Hunk snores by the way" He added. "Ack I do not!" Hunk complained. "Bullshit" Lance retorted.
"Heh I don't mind" I said.
"Where do you live?" I asked Lance.
"I live a few minutes out of town on an acreage" Lance beamed.
"I also have a really big family" "Really?" I asked my eyes widening as I looked at him.
"Yeah, 6 people including me" He declared.
"That's so cool" I said.
"I don't really like people but I've always wanted to be a part of a big family" I said.
"Are you all close?" I asked.
"We're the closest a family can get" Lance boasted.
"What about you Hunk? What do you have for family?" I asked him.
"I've got my parents and my older sister" He replied.
"That's it" "I've just got my foster parents and their two kids" I mumbled. Shit I opened up too soon.
"I didn't know you were being fostered" Hunk gasped.
"Yeah" I mumbled.
"I've been in and out of homes almost my whole life. My current family are the ones I've been with the longest" I explained.
Just thinking about what it would be like to have such a big close knit family made me happy.
I mean the 5 of us are close but I just wish I was an official member of the family.
"Well my mom will love you, Promise" Lance said patting my hand.
Lance turned on the radio and some old pop music filled the car.

We drove out of the city and soon enough came cruising up a long gravel driveway. Lance parked in front of a decent size white house. It looks like your storybook farmhouse. Big windows, front porch with a swing, screen door and two trucks parked next to us.
"We're here" Lance announced shutting the car off. I stepped out of the car.
"My younger siblings are probably asleep so we have to be a little bit quieter" Lance whispered as we entered the house.
I heard a female voice say something in Spanish once we closed the screen door.
"Mamá I have someone I'd like to meet" Lance said.
My heart jumped because I know he's referring to me.
A small woman with dark hair pulled into a tight bun entered the room. "Mamá this is Keith" Lance announced. I gave her a smile.
She smiled back warmly and held her hand out for me to shake.
I accepted. "Nice to meet you Keith, I'm Mariana, Lance's mom" She said. I could hear a slight Spanish accent in her voice.
"Nice to meet you too" I replied and let go.
"How was your ghost hunting?" She asked.
"We didn't find anything" Hunk pouted.
"Damn, I was hoping for a good report back" She said.
"Is Keith going to stay the weekend as well?" She asked.
"No just for tonight" Lance replied. She nodded.

I followed Lance and Hunk into the nearby basement.
We got to the end of the stairs and Lance flipped on a light.
A large white leather sectional sofa was pushed up against a wall.
A black table was in front on the sofa. "Me and Hunk have been sleeping down here" Lance said flinging himself onto the piece of furniture.
"It's convenient since there's 4 built in recliners" Hunk said and sat down next to Lance.
"There's a bathroom to the right as well as two guest bedrooms and then my older sisters room to the left of the stairs and then an office is at the end" Lance explained pointing to each thing. "And that's just the fireplace on that wall" He added pointing to large grey stone fireplace with lots of blankets and pillows in front of it "I had my room down here when I was younger but I had night terrors so I moved back upstairs and just haven't left" Lance said.
"Ah I had night terrors too as a kid" I said sitting down next to him.
"I've never had 'em" Hunk added. "You're lucky, they're not fun" I huffed.

Lance pov

I was spread out on my basement couch talking to Hunk and Keith.
I was glancing over at Keith once in a while.
Just seeing him in my house is weird. Keith is in my house.
All of a sudden some spontaneous...thoughts popped into my head.

Keith pov

I think I'm letting Lance in too fast. He could still sabotage me with the information I've given him.
I need to stop with this...all this overthinking.
Lance is a good guy and I need to stop thinking everyone I meet is terrible. But the thing is: I can't let Lance know I'm into him. That's not how I work. Deny deny deny.
But it's just so hard. He's just so charming and it's hard for me to resist him.
He's a temptation.
Provocative.
But I've given in to his charm already and he knows but now I'm so far in I can't go back and just now play the iconic "hard to get" ...or can I?
