☆《Eight》☆
Emmett-
As soon as I stepped into the house, I could tell something was off. I rushed towards Evie's bedroom, letting the door fling open with a bang. Peering inside, Evie looked like she'd seen a ghost, but as far as I could tell nothing was wrong.
A look of disapointment crossed my face when I realized she was still in the towel from her shower.
"I thought you'd have been ready by now," I pouted as I walked into her room.
"I'm having trouble finding something to wear," she said before quickly dissapearing into her closet.
"Well, hurry up and find something," I shouted to her. "I'm dying to show you your surprise!"
Moments later, she emerged from the closet and announced she was ready to go. I helped her with her scarf and coat before lifting her off her feet. She began to protest, but I cut her off.
"You weigh as much as a penny," I argued. "So just shut up and let me do this," I smiled.
"But why aren't we taking the ATV?"
"Because this is faster," I lied, and before she could say anything more, we flashed off at vampire speed towards the house.
When we got there, the rest of my family was gathered outside waiting for us. Alice smiled as I nodded at her, letting me know that everything was all set up and ready to go.
"Come on, let's go around back," I told everyone. "I think Santa might have left Evie a surprise back there," I teased.
I was in the process of helping navigate Evie through the deep snow drifts and ice, when suddenly Bella cried out, slipping and falling to the ground.
"See?" Bella angrily said to Edward as she pointed towards me and Evie. "Emmett helps Evie through the snow, why can't you help me?" she asked.
"Because," Edward chuckled, "you're a vampire," he replied as he wrapped his arms around her waist and hoisted her back up on her feet. Bella playfully smacked him in the arm before he finally picked her up and carried her the rest of the way.
As we rounded the side of the house, Evie's jaw dropped as she looked forward in awe at the black Volkswagen GTE Active that was parked outside.
"Someone got a car for Christmas?" she asked as she stood looking at the luxury SUV.
"You got a car for Christmas," I whispered into her ear as I dangled the keys in front of her face.
"It's too much," she protested with a shake of her head.
"It's really not," I replied.
"But it had to of cost a fortune," she insisted.
"We're vampires," Edward chuckled. "We have more fortune than we know what to do with."
I thought she might try to protest some more, but much to my excitement, she grabbed the keys and ran over to her new SUV.
"I can't believe you even got a big red bow on it!" she exclaimed. "How in the world did you do that?"
"He didn't," Jasper simply stated.
"We did," Edward pointed at Jasper and himself with an exasperated gesture. "And let me tell you, it's not as easy as you would think," he frowned as he shot daggers out of his eyes at me.
"Well, thank you," Evie smiled. "Everyone."
Suddenly, there was a strange rustling noise in the woods behind her. I flashed forward, placing my large body infront of Evie, ready to protect her if needed. But as the first of our house guests stepped out from the tree line, I sighed in relief.
"It's Benjamin and his mate," I informed her, excited to see my old friend again. "And his sire Amun and his wife."
I started to walk forward towards them with the rest of my family, but paused when I realized Evie wasn't behind me.
"Come on," I urged as I stretched out my hand towards her. "Everyone is going to love you," I said.
She looked down at my hand but hesitated to take it.
"I promise I won't let anything happen to you," I smiled.
She walked forward a little and finally grabbed my hand.
"I love you," I said before placing a kiss to her forehead.

The rest of the Cullen's friends arrived shortly after the Egyptian coven. I was introduced to all of them, but it would take a while before I would remember any of their names. I was actually quite surprised-- all those years I had spent with Klaus, and never once, had we come in contact with any of these vampires.
It was a couple hours later, after everyone had shared stories and caught up on eachother's lives, that I found myself sitting around and playing Cards Against Humanity.
"Oh boy," I said as I flipped over my black card.
"C'mon," Bella urged. "I bet it's a good one."
"Okay," I smirked as I looked over the top of the card in my hands. "What is Batman's guilty pleasure?"
Everyone threw down their cards and slowly I flipped them over, reading each one out loud.
"What is Batman's guilty pleasure?" I repeated the question. "Someone said-- alter boys; my collection of high tech sex toys; a bleached ass hole; all you can eat shrimp for $4.99; or sliding down on a cucumber really really slow."
"Oh my god!" I exclaimed as everyone burst into laughter. "This game is terrible!" I squealed in laughter.
After about ten minutes of laughing, I finally choose the winning card.
"As much as I love my high tech sex toys," I winked, "I have to go with-- all you can eat shrimp for $4.99," I laughed.
"That's right!" Jacob shouted as he took the black card from me and added it to his stash. "I'm just too amazing for this game!"
Suddenly I found myself sitting in Emmett's lap, him nipping at my neck with his strong arms wrapped around my waist.
"I'd like to know what sex toys you're referring too," he growled in my ear. "From now on, I will provide all the pleasure you need."
His words shot a shiver up my spine, and a blush up my neck and cheeks. Rather flustered by the whole ordeal, I stood up and quickly excused myself to get a drink from the kitchen. Upon rounding the corner, I could hear a couple of hushed voices talking. My ears perked up when I realized they were talking about me.
"Calm down, Amun," said Benjamin. "I'm sure the Cullen's have a good reason for Evie being here."
"She's a human," I heard Amun snap.
I gently pressed my back against the wall, the disgust in Amun's voice making me sick to my stomach.
"A hunan, Benjamin," he repeated again. "She doesn't belong here, and neither do we."
As hot tears streamed down my face, I rushed away from the kitchen and out the back door. Never in all my years with the Mikealson's had they ever made me feel so inferior. I made it only a few feet away, when I collapsed into the snow, an absolute blubbering mess.
With snot and tears everywhere, I suddenly felt a bubble of warmth surround me in spite of the icy snow I was sitting in. Looking up, I instantly knew it was Benjamin altering the temperature as he and Edward stood infront of me.
"I'm sorry you had to hear that," Benjamin apologized. "You should know, I do not share the same opinion as Amun."
"Oh really?" I sobbed as I looked down at my hands folded in my lap. "Cause I'm pretty sure he's right. I don't belong here. I'm not even Emmett's true mate!" I exclaimed.
"Sometimes you find the right person at the wrong time," Benjamin began, "and sometimes you find the wrong person at the right time. But if by chance, you happen to find the right person at the right time-- don't question it," he said. "Fate has destined for you to be together. Whatever you do, don't let love go."
I was silent for a moment as Benjamin's epic speech sunk in. As I stood up, Edward who had remained quiet the whole time, grabbed me into a hug and wiped away my tears. He opened his mouth to say something to me, when suddenly his head whipped up, as though he were listening to something in the woods.
"What is it, friend?" Benjamin asked as he followed Edward's gaze out to the trees.
"Allister," Edward said.
"Who's Allister?" I frowned, my eyebrows knitted in confusion. I had met a lot of people today, but I was pretty sure I hadn't heard that name before.
"Allister gathered with us ten years ago," Benjamin spoke. "But when it came time for battle, he left before it began. He would not stand with us, even though he knew what was right."
"Sounds kind of like a coward."
"Alot like a coward," Benjamin corrected.
"So what does he want?" I asked, licking my lips nervously. I had a feeling this was not going to end well.
"He used to be a freind," Edward said. "But I don't think he can be called one anymore."

"Has anyone seen Evie?" I called as I frantically searched around the house for her.
"Did you check outside?" Alice answered from somewhere upstairs.
I looked over at the coat rack, my heart clenching in my chest. Not again, I thought. Surely she would be a popsicle by now.
"You couldn't have told me this ten minutes ago?" I growled at Alice threateningly.
"She's fine," Alice informed me. "In fact I think she's coming back, right about--"
"Oh, thank god," I breathed as I rushed forward grabbing Evie up in my arms.
"Where were you?" I asked leveling my eyes at her.
"I just needed some fresh air," she smiled, but I knew she was lying. I bored holes into her, waiting for her to tell me the real reason behind her dissapearance, but she just patted my arm and smiled. "I'll tell you later," she promised.
I was about to argue when suddenly everyone was summoned into the living room. As we all gathered around the Christmas tree, Edward and Bella began a speech about how grateful they were for everyone taking a stand with them ten years ago.
I had just pulled Evie on to my lap when suddenly Alice had a vision. She inhaled sharply as the vision took hold of her and had Jasper not rushed to her side, she may have even fallen to the ground. I felt my heart sink into my stomach as she looked over at me with sadness in her eyes. Whatever it was, it couldn't be good. Only the bad visions ever really shocked her like this.
"The Volturi are coming for us again," she explained, her words ominous as she spoke. " And this time, they're coming for Evie."
