The next morning I woke up, almost feeling sick full of nerves for my first day at my new school.

I went to my bathroom and washed my face, before putting my foundation on. I decided as it was my first day at a new school to keep it simple and to a minimum. I did my eyebrows and added some mascara and got changed into my new uniform. I grabbed my bag and headed to the kitchen where my mom was making me some coffee and food.

"Morning", she beamed.

"Morning", I groaned.

"What's wrong with you?", she asked.

"Nothing, just nerves", I say with a small smile.

"You will be fine. You're so pretty and bubbly, you'll make friends in no time at all, darling", she said giving me one of her 'mom cuddles'. I close me eyes and wrap my arm around her, too.

"Ive got to head out the door, but there is money on the counter for you to get some lunch today. See you tonight, have a great day sweetheart", she smiles.

I finish my coffee and pack by bags. I put on my boots and grab the money off the counter and fold it into my pocket. I shut the door behind me and begin walking to school. As I'm walking I can feel someone creeping up behind me. I turn around just as someone scares me. I scream and and lose my balance, but the person catches me before I hit the ground. I winced as I braced for the fall, but opened my eyes to see Mark, from the park yesterday.

"You scared the hell out of me", I screamed.

"Did you really believe I'd let a pretty girl like you hit the ground", he laughed as he placed me back on my feet.

"That was not funny", I said, rolling my eyes and continuing to walk towards school.

"Hey, wait up", Mark called out after me.

I didn't turn around, but kept walking.

"Do you mind if I walk with you?", he asked.

"Sure", I said.

"How're you feeling about your first big day?", he asked me.

"Nervous and not really excited", I said.

"Stick with me, you'll be fine", he smiled, putting his arm around me.

We walked silently the rest of the way, but when we reached the school car park I noticed a lot of people staring at me.

"Is it that obvious that I am new?", I laughed.

"Don't worry about them", Mark reassured.

As we walked past the crowds of people, one face looked familiar. It was the boy that took me to the diner the other day, Ethan! He smiled and waved at me, and I waved back.

The bell rang and Mark walked me to my first class, english. As the other students piled in, I quickly sat down at a seat to secure a spot. Ethan walked in and looked surprised to see me.

He walked by and took the seat next to me.

"Hey, Mariah", he smiled.

"Hey Ethan", I said.

"I see you met Mark, the campus douche", he laughed.

"Oh, he seems nice", I said.

"Mariah, I'm warning you now before you get in too deep, he's trouble. He isn't a very nice person", Ethan warned.

"Oh, okay, thanks for the warning", I said.

I wasn't really sure what to think about Ethan's accusations. Maybe I would have to find out more about Mark. Mark was the year above Ethan and I, so we didn't have any classes together. After two hours of horrible english, the bell finally rang. I picked up my books and walked out to the corridor where I was met by... Mark. He was standing there against somebody's locker waiting for something... or someone. His face lit up when he saw me walk out. He began walking over to me. He was waiting for me.
