Chapter Five
~PJ's POV~
"PJ, it's ready," Lyra told me once I answered the phone call.
"Really?! What do I have to do?!" I anticipated.
"Well, for one, calm down!" She instructed me. I took a deep breath and let her continue. "All you have to do, is bring something that represents the emotional bind between the two of you,"
"Um.. Let me think," I muttered, looking around my room. Then it dawned on me, I gave (y/n) a necklace, then I kept the other one! "Found it!" I exclaimed, lifting the necklace from my chest.
The opposite one you chose in the last book on your first date with him. If pink, blue. If blue, pink.
"Alright, come to my void, we'll start there,"
* * * * *
Once I had come to her void, I saw Lyra waiting for me.
"Hey, PJ," She greeted. I nodded.
"Let's just get to the plan," I told her.
"Alright. Come here," Lyra instructed.
I walked over to her and she put her hand on my shoulder.
"Brace yourself,"
Before I had time to react, I felt as if my insides were being ripped apart and I couldn't breathe. Even if it only lasted three seconds, it felt like I had died and came back to life.
"Sorry. I wanted to send half of your soul fragments right now so it'd hurt less later on," Lyra smiled sheepishly. "You alright?"
I nodded, still holding my stomach (don't ask).
"Yeah. I'll be fine," I felt a little better, so I stopped holding my stomach and faced Lyra.
"Hey, PJ?"
"Yeah?"
"You wanna know why (y/n) went into that Mindscape?" Lyra asked, a faraway look in her eyes. My own widened.
"You know why she had to go there?" I asked, unbelieving.
"Yeah.. But Ink, her Ink, needs to explain why. So I called him to meet us,"
I nodded and I saw the end of the portal.
"Land on your feet,"
"Yeah, I've had practice," We landed on our feet and I looked around. There was Toriel, Frisk, Papyrus, Alphys, Sans and Ink in the room right now.
"Hey, Ink," Lyra called him overand he came.
"I'm here. We should go somewhere more private for this conversation,"
We went upstairs and we sat down.
"Right, um. Anyway, the mindscape is like a test. I had to go to it, so that meant that (y/n) knew what she was getting into. Well, kind of. She didn't know that it was a test, the only thing she knew, was that it happens to every magic user in every universe. She also knows that if she dies there, she dies here. That's why's she always fights to her full potential, because, if she doesn't, she might not be ready for when that day came," Ink explained. Realization dawned on me.
"Wait. Is that why she wanted to teach me magic?"
"Yes, it's because the Mindscape makes people, or monsters, that have magic take this test. Even if they haven't discovered their powers,"
"So, in a way," I began, "She saved me?"
"Pretty much. Now, Lyra told me you wanted to go to the Mindscape, right?" Ink said. I nodded, making him sigh. "You know there's a possibility that you might have to do it twice if you go, right?"
"I don't care. If I have to do it twice, then so be it,"
Smiling, Ink said, "I'm glad she found someone like you,"
~(y/n)'s POV~
When I woke up, it was morning and I was the only one that was awake. I looked around, and noticed that Jake wasn't here. 'Must be outside' I thought, yawning and getting up.
Walking outside, I saw Jake pacing around.
"Jake? What are you doing?" I mumbled, the sleep obvious in my voice.
"(Y/n)? Go back to sleep," He said quietly, standjng in front of me.
"Mm-mm. What's wrong?"
"It's... Nothing,"
"Something's wrong. What is it?" I had my hands on his shoulders now. I saw a light shade of pink on cheeks as he looked down. "Look at me,"
"Um. It's just... I've had a crush on this girl for a long time," He began, averting his eyes. "And I don't know hoe to tell her. I'm also pretty sure she's found someone by now,"
"Do you know for sure?"
"N-no,"
"Exactly!" I grinned at him. "So tell her!"
"A.. Alright!" His face was red. "I'm gonna tell her soon!"
"Great! Make sure to tell me her answer! Any girl would be lucky to have you," I smiled, making him blush a little more before smiling back.
"Thanks, (y/n),"
I nodded and yawned, covering my mouth to contain it.
"I'm going back to sleep, if I can,"
Walking back, I took a few steps and stopped.
"Jake?" I said, not turning round. "If she rejects you, she isn't worth it,"
I opened the tent 'door' and looked at Leoni, who was tossing and turning.
"Mommy," She whimpered. I frowned and rushed to her side.
"Leoni?" I asked worriedly. "What's wrong?"
Looking at her face, I saw tears flowing down her face so I started shaking her.
"Wake up!" I said into her ear as to not wake the others. "Leoni!"
After a minute or so, she woke and flung herself at me.
"Mommy! You're alive!"
"Of course I am! What did you dream about?" I asked worriedly.
"I dreamed that you died and left me alone like my real mommy," She whimpered into my shoulder. This surprised me.
"What do you mean?"
Leoni stayed quiet and averted her eyes away.
"Leoni?" I asked again. She muttered something under her breth which I couldn't hear. "Hm?"
"I..." She muttered quietly. I waited patiently until she was ready to tell me. "I'm..."
I saw Jake in the entrance to the tent. He mouthed, 'is everything okay?' I mouthed that he had to leave, but he didn't understand. He sighed quietly and he looked as if he suddenly had an idea. He put his index and middle finger to the side of his head, which surprised me because I didn't know he had this power.
"What's going on?" He asked telepathically. I looked down at Leoni.
"Nightmare. Also, I never knew you had this power," I told him, surprised.
"I rarely ever use it,"
"Jake? Could you please leave? This is personal for Leoni and she'd probably be really upset if you knew what she's trying to tell me right now,"
"Sure. See ya later,"
I looked back at Leoni, who was now starting to look at me.
"I'm..." She wiped the tears out of her eyes and looked at me.
"I'm... An orphan,"
