Chapter 49
The entire time, I had to make excuses to them both to leave. I either had to tell them that I had "woman problems", that I was going to go get them something, or that I was going to make sure my hair hadn't fell out of place.
Right now, I was with Obito.
We walked around and then turned his head to one of the stands.
"Wait here,"
"Okay,"
He walked towards one of the shops and conviently, I saw Kurenai with Naomi and Hayate.
I called her over.
"Yes?"
"Someone wants to meet you later by the cherry blossom on the hill," I said and pointed towards it. "Go there at 8,"
"Uh, okay."
Kurenai was about to ask me who, but Naomi quickly pulled her away because she caught onto what I was planning.
Obito came back, looking a little nervous.
"Um..." he trailed off. "I know it's not much, but here,"
He handed a bracelet over to me. It had an orange string with a metal plate on it that had a symbol engraved onto it. There were two navy blue beads that went on each side of the metal plate and I actually liked it.
I took the bracelet and slipped it on my left wrist. I didn't care whether it had gems on it or not, it was the thought that counted.
"Thanks, Obito," I smiled. "It's cute,"
He looked relieved that I liked it.
"I'm glad you like it," He said. "I was worried you wouldn't and the guy who was selling these helped me pick it out. He didn't tell me what the symbol said though, he just said you would like it,"
"He was right," I said. "I'll go get you something too,"
"No you don't have to do that-" He started.
"Obito, you know that I'll do it even if you tell me not to," I cut him off.
He nodded and we walked around. I had to hurry back before Kakashi suspected something and get them both something.
"I'll be right back, I have to go change my-"
"I get it," Obito sighed. "Please don't explain,"
I chuckled and went over to one of the small shops. I had to pick something out for the two of them and find Asuma before time ran out.
I looked around and found a bunch of bracelets for Obito.
"Do you need help?" The owner asked and then looked down at my bracelet.
"Yeah, actually," I nodded.
"I have the perfect one for you," The owner said and grabbed a sky blue and black bracelet.
It was similar to mine and had a symbol engraved on it.
Now, I had to pick something else out for Kakashi.
I looked around and found a kunai with a charm attached to the end of it. I found him by a tree and I ran over to him.
"Kakashi!" I said. "Here, I wanted to make sure it would be something you like,"
My sleeve fell down a little, revealing the bracelet that Obito had gotten me. Uh oh.
Kakashi took the kunai from me. "You didn't have to get me something, but thanks. Also, that's an interesting bracelet. Where did you get it?"
"It was uh," I started. "A gift from Kushina. I thought it would be nice if I wore it tonight,"
I nodded. "I see,"
I hoped that he wasn't suspicious.
We got some food and sat down at a bench to eat. I had to make sure I finished mine quickly so I could get back to Obito.
This was a terrible idea. I should've just talked to Kushina instead of Kurenai and Anko about this.
We both finished out food and Kakashi grabbed a cherry blossom from the tree and got close to me. I started blushing, wondering what he was doing.
He put the cherry blossom in my hair and looked a bit embarrassed. "I just thought it would look nice,"
I nodded and I told him I would go apply some more lipgloss on at the bathroom.
I actually did so it wouldn't look weird and found Obito. I realized at the last minute that I still had the flower in my hair.
Obito looked a bit confused. "Where did you get that?"
"I found it on a shop when I went to grab your gift after I used the bathroom, that's why it took me long," I said and handed the bracelet over to him.
"The flower looks cute on you,"
His eyes widened when he realized what he said and I started smiling. He looked away quickly and got nervous.
"I mean, it looks good on you!"
"I think I liked cute better," I smirk.
He was too embarrassed to reply and we walked over to a quieter area. The Hokage was going to give his speech in three hours and I didn't have much time to find Asuma.
I leaned against the tree while he stood in front of me and he accidentally tripped on a twig when he was shifting his foot trying to get it off his shoe. He fell forward and I caught him so he wouldn't fall into the tree.
His face was close to mie and I blushed at the closeness.
"Uh, sorry about that," he apologized nervously.
I glanced down at his lips, but then Kakashi came to mind. I couldn't keep him waiting for too long.
"Obito, I'm going to go the bathroom. I'll be right-"
I turned
Kakashi was standing right there.
Oh god.
"Back..."
Kakashi crossed his arms. "I knew something was up,"
This wasn't good. This wasn't good at all. Oh god. Why did I let Kurenai and Anko get me into this?
Obito looked confused. "What are you talking about?"
I looked down, not knowing what to do.
"I'll tell you," Kakashi replied. "she came here with me as well,"
Obito looked over, sounding crestfallen. "Is this true Hana?"
"Yeah..."
There was no point in trying to lie. My charade was over.
I looked at both of them. My two best friends were both here, staring at me, the hurt evident in both of their eyes. What have I done?
I knew at that point, the answer was obvious.
"Why?" Obito asked.
"I...I..." I had a hard time trying to admit it.
"Well, I'm leaving," Kakashi turned around.
"Kakashi, wait!" I stopped him.
He didn't turn to look at me, but he was listening.
"I-I fell in love with you,"
My heart was racing.
Obito scoffed loudly. "Of course you are. I don't even know why I thought I had a chance. This happened with Rin, so I should've known it would happen again,"
I looked over at Obito.
"Go ahead, be with Kakashi,"
He turned around to leave
"Obito, hold on,"
"What?" He snapped.
"I fell in love with you too..."
"You expect me to believe you?" Obito retorted and I could tell Kakashi was mad.
"Look," I sighed. "I fell for the both of you. I tried really hard to fight my feelings, I tried to figure out what to do. I asked myself 'why' because I know one person is supposed to make me feel the way I do. I reached out to my friends and now this is the result of my inability to make a decision,"
I could feel a tear trailing down my cheeks.
"I'm sorry. I never intended for this to happen."
Kakashi left without a word and Obito turned around to leave. I tried to reach out to him, but she shrugged me off and walked away.
Damnit. I messed up big time.
I dropped to the ground, starting to cry.
