Chapter 39
I was shivering from being drenched in water since I was in the lake. Obito was carrying me because I overexerted myself and we needed to take shelter for the night. I stared into his onyx eyes and I started to blush.
"Don't move around too much," He said. "You really went overboard back there,"
Turns out Kushina just faked her death so she could pull the attacker into a trap. Losing my temper back there wasn't a good idea.
"O-Okay," I stutter.
Guy and Asuma had the men who attacked us tied up and we reached a secluded spot for the night.
Kushina questioned them, but it turns out they were being tricked by the man I nearly killed, so she let them go and warned them to stay away from us or she would beat them up herself. They shuddered at her and listened.
They had no idea why they were assasinating King Satoru and Prince Ryota.
"Asuma," Kushina said. "Make sure Hana's wounds are healed,"
He came over and Obito put me down on the ground gently.
"Kurenai's always making sure I have a med kit with me at all times," Asuma said and started cleaning the gash on my hand. I flinched at how badly it stung and he after he was done, he wrapped it up.
"Well, it looks like she helped us in some way again," I replied.
"You know," Asuma started to lecture. "You need to control that anger of yours. You could've gotten yourself killed. You can't just go charging in a fight without thinking,"
"I know," I sighed as he patched up a few more injuries I had. "I just lost control because seeing her get 'killed' like that made me remember the night I lost my parents,"
Asuma didn't say anything. "Well, we're camping here for the night. Make sure you don't strain your body even more so you can get healed up. Kushina's going to decide what to do with the assassin,"
Guy walked over and sat down next to Obito who was sitting across from me.
"Are you alright, Rival #2?" He asked.
I nodded.
"Good," He laughed. "Because when Kakashi's not around, I'm going to need Rival #2 to challenge me!"
I chuckled and he walked over to Kushina with Asuma so he could assist her with the rogue ninja who attacked us. Obito was about to say something to me, but then he got cut off.
"My little flower!" Prince Ryota exclaimed with worry. "I'm so glad you're okay!"
He took my injured hand into his and rubbed it. If looks could kill, Obito would've had Ryota dead by now.
He crossed his arms and continued to glare at Ryota. "She needs to rest and she's not your 'little flower' you just met her yesterday,"
"I'm just checking on her. Why are you so protective? Is she your girlfriend or something?" Ryota spat.
My cheeks burned at being called Obito's girlfriend.
"No! She's not!" Obito shouted, pink dusting his cheeks.
The prince rolled his eyes and looked at me. "Will you be okay, Little Flower?"
Obito fumed and Ryota smirked, knowing that he had angered Obito again.
"Yeah, I'll be fine. I just need to rest," I replied. "I am pretty cold though. I probably shouldn't have gone underwater,"
Ryota took off his jacket and Obito practically threw his at me before Ryota could give me his jacket.
I sweat-dropped and took the jacket, putting it on.
Asuma and Guy motioned for us to come sit by the fire and we did. I sat on the log that Obito was on and Ryota sat on the log next to me with his father. The fire felt nice considering I'm cold and I'm wet.
Asuma started smoking a cigarette and exhaled the smoke. "So, what's the plan now?"
"I'm going to send a message to the Hokage to send some ninjas here to retrieve this guy," Kushina motioned towards the rogue ninja. "Then after that we'll be on our way assuming they come in the morning,"
I nodded and Ryota huffed. "That'll make us late to the meeting!"
Asuma looked over at him. "Because Kushina-Sensei said we have him right now, they're probably going to send the Yellow Flash since he can travel quicker than anyone,"
"He better be fast," Ryota rolled his eyes.
I looked over at him. "Oh, don't worry. My Uncle's speed will take you by surprise,"
Kushina told everyone that her and I would be right back. She wanted to talk to me and we walked away so no one would hear our conversation.
"Hana," She said. "What happened back there?"
"I...I don't know," I replied. "I just lost control of myself after I saw you 'die' and I acted on my anger,"
"All of that sounds very familiar to me," she said. "Did you hear a voice telling you to kill him?"
I looked up at her, surprised that she understood. Did she have this "side" of her too?
"Yes,"
She didn't reply and looked thoughtful.
"Let's talk more about this when we get home. I want Minato there too because we need to discuss this," She said and stood up. "Let's go join the others back at the fire pit,"
We both walked over and heard Guy yelling.
"I can't just sit here any longer!" Guy shouted and everyone looked at him with confusion. "I need to train. I can't let a day go by without training!"
He immediately started doing push-ups.
"If I can't do one hundred push-ups, then I shall do two hundred!"
Asuma sighed and I started getting exhausted just watching him.
"You really don't know the meaning of 'relaxing' don't you?"
"Relaxing?" Guy said while doing his push-ups. "I am relaxing!"
~Time Skip~
The next morning, I noticed the pain in my body was gone. I checked the bandages to see if the cut was still healing and I saw that the cut was gone. It looked like it wasn't there before.
I took the bandages off and stretched my hand.
"I should probably stop using my hands to stop swords and kunais," I muttered to myself.
I looked around seeing that Kushina was still awake and she was guarding the area and was keeping an eye on our prisoner. Obito and the others were still asleep.
"Good morning, Hana," She greeted when she noticed I was awake.
"Did you sleep at all?" I ask.
"I did, but I woke up very early," She replied.
Everyone else woke up now and I couldn't help but stare at Obito when he woke up. He yawned and stretched out, then ran his hands through his hair. He spoke in that sleepy voice that melted my heart and I could feel my cheeks turning red.
"Has Minato-Sensei came yet?" He asked.
I started to blush even worse at how cute he sounded.
"Not yet," She said.
Right as she said that, a woman with blonde hair and green eyes spoke.
"You requested back up?"
We all looked and saw Mikoto with her. Minato was there too.
"Wow, he is fast," Ryota remarked.
"Told you," I said.
I learned that the blonde woman's name is Mebuki Haruno. I already knew Mikoto and obviously, I knew Minato.
I was in my own zone and I started packing things up. I was crouched down on the ground and had my head facing the ground, putting everything away.
My head hit someone else's head and I rubbed it, looking up.
Obito rubbed his head too and we both realized how close we were.
I started blushing and I got nervous.
"S-Sorry Obito," I smile nervously. "Didn't see you there,"
He smiled as well. "I-It's okay Hana,"
He sounded nervous too. We continued to stare at each other and then snapped out of it. We both quickly looked away from each other and I needed to calm myself down. I'm normally not like this. What's going on with me?
I stood up after crouching and noticed Ryota started glaring at him. We were now walking to the Land of Iron.
Now I couldn't stop thinking about Obito and Kakashi's question. The final rounds of the Chunin Exams are next month, meaning the festival is coming quick. I had to make a decision already, but it's hard. I don't want to hurt either of them and they both give me this feeling that no other guy has before.
I glanced over at Obito and Kurenai's voice echoed in my head.
"You're falling for your best friend!"
Was I really? I never thought I'd fall in love with him because Obito and I have always been such good friends, but I can't help but feel something towards him. The other problem is, is that I feel something towards Kakashi too.
I realized I was full on staring at Obito and I looked away quickly. Obito didn't even notice that I was staring because he was lost in his own thoughts. Now there was an awkward silence. Ryota wasn't complaning, Satoru wasn't gushing to Kushina about his gold, Guy wasn't talking about training, and Asuma didn't even say anything.
I spoke too soon.
"My Little Flower," Ryota said, taking my hands in his. "Do you wanna come with me? We can be together,"
Obito quickly looked over and glared. "She's a ninja of the Leaf Village and you don't even know her. Stop calling her your 'little flower',"
"I know her well enough to ask her to be my queen," Ryota smirked.
"No, you don't," Obito shouted. "You met her like three days ago!"
"Obito, hush! We can't be too loud or an enemy will know we're nearby," Kushina cut in, with a scolding tone.
I chuckled seeing Obito gave an annoyed glare to Ryota and Ryota just smirked, making him even angrier.
"Sensei? Are we even close to the Land of Iron?" Asuma asked, breaking the silence again.
"Sort of," Kushina replied. "It usually takes about three days to get there, but if we continue on this path it should take at least seven hours."
I let out an exaggerated groan and she laughed.
I continued scanning the area around us to make sure any more attackers wouldn't try to ambush us.
