Chapter 23

The next day, I went to the area where we weres supposed to meet up. Obito was actually early to my surprise, Rin was on her way, and Kakashi showed up.

Kakashi couldn't look me in the eyes and didn't say anything. I couldn't look at him either, especially after last night. I still got shy around him.

Obito rose an eyebrow and looked at the both of us, a little suspicious.

Rin was here now and she greeted us.

"Morning guys!" She smiled. "And I'm glad you're early this time, Obito,"

Obito's face turned pink when she smiled, causing me to roll my eyes.

Satoru, the guy who had given me my headband, Raiden, and Choza Akimichi were here once all of the genin were on the training ground.

Raiden's sharp cobalt stare scanned us and gave us a look as if he was trying to intimidate us.

"For those of you who don't know me, I'm Raiden. I'm your next proctor," He introduces. "You guys will be going into the Forest of Death today for the next part of the exam,"

"What?! Forest of Death?! Someone shouted.

Raiden grinned, almost sadistically.

"Yes," He said. "You have five days to get out. In the real world, you may have to carry some crucial information that you cannot look at to another village. Sometimes, that information could get you killed,"

"Five days?!" I exclaimed.

He now sighed because of how many outbursts there were. Choza took over on explaining what was going to happen.

"Your team will start out with one scroll and you will have to try and obtain the other scroll from a different team because you need both, the heaven and earth scroll to pass. If you have a heaven scroll, you have to try and get an earth scroll and vice versa."

Satoru and Raiden handed out scrolls to every team while Choza prepared to unlock the gates. Our team had an earth scroll and we just needed to find a heaven scroll.

With that, Choza unlocked the gates and now it was time to start the second part of the exam.

We walked in and looked around, debating on where to go.

A boy who wore sunglasses walked by and we both made eye contact. He was familiar to me and I couldn't figure out why. He even looked just as confused as I was. I think I may have seen him in the Cloud Village, but I just can't remember what his name is.

"Hana, let's go," Rin's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Right, sorry," I said and started following Kakashi's lead.

I jumped when I heard the gates slamming shut.

"Jesus, that was loud," I remarked.

Rin just nodded in agreement with me.

Okay, I just need to get through this, and then I can learn that new jutsu from Uncle Minato. This shouldn't be too hard.

Kakashi decided that he would lead the way, but that didn't fly well with Obito. He wanted to be in the lead instead, so they started bickering. Rin stepped in to stop the bickering and then we all settled on Kakashi being our leader.

As we followed him, a random group of ninjas from the Stone Village attempted to ambush us, but they failed because Kakashi was one step ahead of them.

We walked around for what felt like hours and I needed to take a break.

"Let's take a break," I suggested.

"Alright," Kakashi nodded and searched for an area that was safe enought to take a break at.

We found a small clearing and I leaned against a huge tree. Just as I was about to speak, a kunai landed right next to my face and I quickly got into a battle stance. Obito, Rin, and Kakashi looked around to see where it came from.

"Good thing you had your guard up, Hana," I heard Nozomi's voice sneer.

Figures she would attempt an attack on me now. I guess fighting is permitted now, so I can fight back finally.

"So, we meet again," I said, watching her step out from the bushes.

Her forest green hair blew in her face and her bloodthirsty, silver eyes glared at me.

"Now, we can finally fight without everyone interfering," She grinned and lunged at me before I had time to react. I dodged her attack and she quickly weaved signs for a wind release.

"Wind style, gale surge!"

I got caught in her attack and I stumbled, falling to the ground.

She walked closer and I noticed there was a strange black mark on her neck. She noticed my staring and then realized where I was looking.

"Oh, this?" She asks, rubbing her neck. "You're supposed to get one soon, but I'll make sure that doesn't happen,"

"Okay, I have no clue what the hell you're talking about, but all I know is that I'm getting sick of you already! I retorted and started weaving signs for a water release.

"Water dragon jutsu!"

Water formed into a dragon and strong currents aimed down at Nozomi. It wasn't that big, considering I was still a genin, but it was able to knock her off her feet. She fell to the ground and looked at me with surprise.

"So, you did improve from the last time we met," She remarked.

"Of course, I did," I said. "I trained just so I could fight you because I know this won't be our last fight,"

"You got that right," Nozomi said as I used the water chain jutsu on her.

Chains that were made out of water wrapped around her body, bound her to the ground.

"What? Can't move?" I mocked, feeling that stirring inside of me again. It wanted revenge.

I was about to attack her again, but Kakashi stopped me.

"That's enough now, we need to get moving," he said.

I felt that blood lust that was building up inside of me leaving and I nodded.

Nozomi continued to glare at me and she didn't even have to speak to tell me what she wanted to say. The look in her eyes said it all. She was going to come back and was going to try and kill me the next time she sees me.

I saw that she had dropped a heaven scroll and I grabbed it.

"Hey, we have a heaven scroll now!" I grinned.

I spoke too soon because Kakashi suddenly grabbed it out of my hands and threw it to the ground.

I was about to yell at him, but then it exploded. It was a trap.

"Woah..." I remarked.

"I bet her team has the real heaven scroll. She probably thought you were going to lose and force us to give up our earth scroll." Obito said.

"Yeah, good thing Kakashi got it," I said.

"Kakashi, it's getting dark, so we should find a place to camp out for the night," Rin suggests.

"Let's find a place that's far away from this area so no one else tries to attack us while we're resting," Kakashi said.

Once we found a place, it was completely dark and Kakashi started a fire. I put our things down and Rin was setting a tent up that she had in her bag. Obito went to go find some food for us by a stream and I sat down in front of the fire. Obito came back with some fish and I went to go clean it out with Rin.

"Hana?" Rin asks.

"What?"

"Why does Nozomi keep wanting to go after you? I don't get it,"

"I don't know either and once I do find out, I'll take her down before she gets to me," I exclaimed while waving around the kunai I used to clean the fish guts out.

Rin looked worried, but she didn't say anything and eventually the fish was ready to be cooked in the fire.

I didn't know what time it was, but it got darker and we were now eating our fish. I had no clue how we were going to sleep comfortably when neither of us had a sleeping bag.
