Chapter 20

"You foiled my plan and I'm not happy about that," Someone said by the doorway.

I panicked.

"Who are you and what do you mean by your 'plan'?"

"You don't need to know that right now, but when the time comes, you'll learn who I am."

What is he talking about? Does he mean the whole scheme that happened at the Ishida Estate?

I felt that familiar stirring deep inside of me again, but I ignored it once again. Someone else walked in, and I jumped.

"It's just me Hana, are you okay?"

Oh, it's just Obito.

"Yeah, I'm okay," I said. "And what did you need to talk about?"

I really wanted to know what he wanted to tell me.

He started fidgeting and then his cheeks dusted pink again.

"Come on, Obito, tell me!"

He shook his head.

"Please,"

"It's nothing," he looked away, his cheeks dusting pink again.

I gave up.

"Okay, well, can you at least check on Mariko for me?"

"Yeah, I can do that," Obito said and left the room to go see how she's doing.

Minato and Kushina walked in after he left.

"I'm sorry Uncle Minato, but I knew she was in danger and I couldn't stand seeing her look so fragile and when he told me that they were being targeted, I just felt this need to protect her," I apologized.

"We both think of you as our own daughter now. Do you realize how worried sick you had us? I thought Nozomi may have gotten to you or something," He lectured me.

I looked down.

"Yes, I know. I'm sorry,"

"Just don't run off like that again without telling us. I lost Yukiko and I don't want to lose you either, you know," Kushina said and hugged me.

I teared up when I realized that this was the parental love I longed for. My parents were gone, forever and I thought I'd never get to feel it ever again.

"I'm sorry for lecturing you so much Hana, but I just don't want to see you get hurt. I care about you like my own daughter," Minato said and joined on the hug.

Once they pulled away, I quickly wiped my eye.

"Dust," I said. "It's dusty in here,"

Minato just laughed.

"Once you're out, I have a new jutsu to show you before you train with Master Jiraiya,"

"What? Really?! I can't wait!" I beamed.

Kushina smiled at how excited I was getting.

"Yes, really. I promise I'll teach it to you once you're out of here," Minato smiled too.

They had to go back home and I could faintly hear their conversation as they left.

"I think she's the one," I heard Minato.

What?

"I think so too, she has the potential." Kushina answered him.

"She does. I think Hana is the Child of Prophecy that Jiraiya told me about." Minato's voice faded and now I was just confused.

What are they talking about? I'm no prophecy. I can't even find my shoes even when they're right in my face.

Another person came in the room again and I saw it was just Obito.

"How is she?" I ask.

"She's not doing so well right now. I heard the nurse talking about some kind of heart valve disease or something like that," Obito said.

I looked down.

He gave me a hug.

"I'm sure she'll be okay, Hana. After what you told Minato today, it sounds like she's already endured a lot and she's still strong," He said.

"Thanks, Obito. I'm glad to have you back because I felt awful after last week," I said, hugging him back. "We should get ramen after we're out of here, I'm dying for another bowl,"

He let go and nodded.

"Yeah, ramen sounds good right now,"

"Oh and do you know where Kurenai and Anko are? I want to see them after I'm out of here as well,"

"Kurenai has a mission and Anko hasn't been seen after you left," He answered.

"What?! She's missing?!" I exclaimed and tried to get off the bed.

He stopped me and pushed me back down lightly.

"Don't freak out because you need to rest. I think she's on a mission or she's with her sensei," He said.

I had an unsettling feeling in my gut.

"Oh, alright..."

"You know her sensei was part of the Sannin, so he's strong. He taught her how to be tough and even if she is missing, she'll come back unharmed," Obito reassured me.

Someone walked in and we both looked at the doorway.

"Satoshi?"

Obito's jaw clenched.

"What are you doing here?" He asks, with hostility.

"What, I can't thank Hana and say goodbye?" Satoshi smirked.

"Thank me?" I ask.

"Goodbye?" Obito asked.

"Yeah, Hana. You helped me cheer Naomi up and I wanted to say goodbye because I'm going to join the ANBU Black Ops," Satoshi replied.

"Really?" I widened my eyes.

He lifted the sleeve of his shirt, revealing an ANBU Black Ops tattoo.

Obito rose an eyebrow.

"We won't see each other as much, but it was still nice to get to know you. I have a mission today and I'm going to go see Naomi before I leave."

With that, he left the room. Obito scoffed.

"He thinks he's all that just because he's an ANBU now! Just wait, I'll become stronger than him!" Obito exclaimed.

"I don't doubt it," I chuckled. "I'm sure one day you'll become strong and people will finally stop thinking you're an idiot,"

His cheeks dusted pink at my compliment and he got all fidgety again.

"I'm gonna go train for the Chunin Exams! I'll see you later!" He rushed out of my room and I chuckled.

A nurse came in.

"What do you want for dinner?" She asks me.

"Um, miso soup," I reply.

I wasn't exactly big on hospital food.

I waited on the nurse to come in with my soup and the woman from earlier came back in my room.

"Hana?"

I look at her, nervous.

"So, how is she?"

"She has heart valve disease and it's getting worse. The only thing that'll heal it for good is surgery, but she can't undergo the surgery right now,"

"Surgery? Why can't she undergo it?" I ask.

"She's too young. She needs to be older so for now, we're going to help her prevent the symptoms from getting worse,"

"Will she survive it?" I ask.

"There's a chance she will die from surgery since it is her heart."

The woman walked out and I sighed. After everything, I felt completely responsible for her wellbeing.

The nurse came back in with my miso soup and set it down on a tray.

"God this is stupid. I just want my muscles to heal already!" I groaned.

I felt a stirring inside of me again and this time, it sounded like whatever it was, it was trying to call out to me.

"What do you want?!" I shouted.

I was surprised when something answered back.

"You want to heal, don't you? So you can get out of here?"

"I do, but what the hell are you?" I demanded.

"I don't have to tell you anything. I just want to make a bargain with you, because if you die, I die,"

"What is this bargain you're talking about?"

"I'll heal you again, but you have to do something for me in return later on,"

"Whatever. Just do what you want."

"Very well, child."
